Ah… I’ve now come to the point in Hitman: WOA where I have done every single achievement, every challenge, and gotten every weapon and tool in Hitman Freelance. What I am left with is 1 distruptor challenge, for killing him, and 3 weapons/tools in the glass cabinet. Shame to have spent so much (fun) time on these things, but then missing something, that should have been available.
I really hope they could bring it back again, even if it sounds impossible. It would probably take them 15 minutes to put it back in again, for everyone. Does cancelled mean for life?
There is a technicality where IO can take the Disruptor DLC away from people who already bought them - nobody owns digital content they only paid for a license which can be revoked at anytime for any reason.
But yea it’s awful and really only regulatory rules could change it b/c so many casual gamers have no idea and don’t even care bc they will just play a game for a little while after it comes out, so it never impacts them.
I completely agree. If they’re not going to reinstate the DLC (with another actor or fictitious character,) they need to at least remove all traces of The Disruptor from the game, at least for the people who didn’t buy the DLC in the first place. I’ve collected all of the items I can for Freelancer, but can’t fill the few slots that “Require the Disruptor Pack.” I also can’t get 100% on all my arcade achievements, since I apparently didn’t didn’t take him down when he was available as an Elusive Target.
Less than a month ago I was casually looking at my wishlist on Epic Games and noticed the Disruptor DLC was still on there with a price tag, I also had the Hellraiser DLC from Dead by Daylight but this one said unavailable,
Out of curiosity I went on to buy the Disruptor and it worked, I guess IO delisted it from the store but didn’t make it fully impossible to purchase
The guy is a professional who whipkicks people in the nuts, and excellent at pounding someone until their unconcious in the head. Are they likely to be angels?
No, they shouldn’t have made it to begin with. They were either too willing to ignore Conor McGregor’s reputation for the sakes of new content, or didn’t do the bloody research beforehand.
And failing that, they could’ve removed it, refunded purchases, and donated said monies to a charity. But they simply delisted it and honoured purchases instead. It’s not wrong…but it’s not the most honourable route they could’ve taken either. Conor has no business being in the game in my opinion.
i agree with the first part, they could’ve not done it and picked anyone else. I do think tho they should never actively remove content unless they can replace it with identical content
Take for example The Simpsons episode Stark Raving Dad: not on Disney+ due to featuring MJ, but other celebrities like Russel Brand and Dustin Hoffman who have also been accused of rape still have their episodes on the service. I think this removal of stuff is silly because it can always lead to more stuff being removed. If the level designer of Sapienza was a nonce, or David Bateson, or anyone who worked on the trilogy was outed for something what do you do then?
The ET formula I know is different because it does glaze these celebrities, but that’s why rerecording the dialogue and remodelling NPCs and essentially keeping every design the same, but removing the McGregor glaze would be the way to go that way you can have the same mission design but under a more neutral coating
At least the mission doesn’t really put him “on the spotlight” as he is quite the asshole in the game and you get to kill him in any way you want
I’d say that’s a funny way to add someone like that to a game, it’s like those old Flash games with someone’s face plastered on a dummy and you could torture it
Except flash games are, for the most part, unofficial, and he wasn’t getting paid to be in those games. And even if they were, nowhere near the scale to a full mission in a reasonably popular live service game.
I think there’s a stark difference in context here.
Aside from what Dribbleondo said, I would like to add that, despite you being able to kill him in whatever way you want, he’ll come back to life in the Cutscene after the mission, rendering the whole thing pointless and maybe even giving him some (undeserved) credit for surviving a normally fatal fate.
