Ambrose Island - Pre-release Discussion

As much as I would also really like Master challenges (the unlock animations and sounds make me all giddy), it would have to be rethought compared to Hitman 2.

I expect Ambrose to arrive with a mastery track.

And to be honest in Hitman 2 the Master challenges broke the mastery progression. Just by doing one run on Master (not even trying, just SA, No Evidence, and a few others) and it was half of the progression done.
Even worst on smaller mastery (which Ambrose might be). I remember having two third of New York mastery done after my first run.
Hitman 3 was more fun, and it made me use the intermediate unlocks during the discovery phase.

So either cutting down the xp, or limiting the number of difficulty challenges unlocked concurently.

Now if it’s just SASO Master alone, then it could be fun Without being broken. And a good bow to this (potentially) final level.

By the way, what does everyone think on mastery track : 15, 20 levels, none ?
And what could be in it, I wonder.

I just want the challenge. I dont need it to award me 8000 xp.

And i think Rocky will have 20 mastery levels. Maybe a few blank ones in between like other smaller levels have now.
But they will probably filled with mostly reskins. Maybe a few useful surprises but im not sure.

I wish there would be at least some nice reskins, although I would prefer actual new stuff. What do I know tho, maybe they cooked something in meantime between latest updates.

I think anything genuinely new they could introduce at this point would lead to a lot of complaints that involved the terms “OP” and “breaks the game” and stuff.

They’re damned if they do and damned if they don’t. Introduce a genuinely new item and it’s over-powered. Reuse an older one with a new color (or even a new attribute) and its just a reskin. No way to win that game.

Well, there’s one thing they could do: introduce the new items anyway, and those who don’t like their use can simply not use them. Of course, we know IO won’t follow that plan, as the ICA Electrocution Phone can attest.

I was wondering, if Grey really comes back, can we get his revolver? I mean the one he has in Hitman 2016, in that cutscene in the car. I would like to have a revolver!

That’s a good idea. I miss them, from Blood Money and Absolution. It’s not 47’s style, but on the occasion when he resorts to one, he looks pretty badass, like the most suavely-dressed sheriff ever, forget Rick Grimes.

A revolver would be absolutely PERFECT for your loadout when playing the 1940s Noir Film Easter Egg in New York/Golden Handshake. Can’t be a proper hard-boiled PI without one!

And one of those big, long-barrel magnums, not one of those short little snub-nosed .38s.

:unamused:

I promise I’m talking about guns.

I dunno, those stumpy bois fit the Sam Spade look better, I reckon!

But I guess the one Grey uses is a long one

Edit: that also sounds wrong

I dunno, it’s harder to aim it under your own chin if the barrel is a longer version though, right…?

Absolutely agree! We need his revolver and sniper rifle! (already got the boots and clothes, will probably get a motorcycle for Freelancer)

And now I know what the reward for beating freelancer should be. I Lucas Grey skin is on lock, to play in all missions and contracts. The only question is shoot you play as him all should you play as 47 with his sold on skin 🫠

Grey: “Good job on Ambrose Island.”
47: “Thanks, can I get your revolver?”
Grey: “Uh wha- no, I still use it!”
47: “… Well not gonna spoil it to you then.”

Psh, 47 wouldn’t ask for the revolver. He’d be like, “I need your revolver,” and hold his hand out. Grey would try to explain why he doesn’t want to give it to him, and 47 would just glower at him that same way he did with Birdie, and Grey would fork it over.

Oh I thought his sniper rifle is the Jaeger 7 Tuatara?

It looks very similar to PSG-1. I mean The Grey’s rifle in the cutscene after Colorado.

Nope. His is a unique one, based on the (German) PSG-1 (like Tupi47 mentions). Been hoping for it since Colorado first came out :frowning:
