Any chance of more sniper assassin maps? Hear me out

I remember when I got the first of the new hitmans and it only had the one map, the wedding. I just beat 007 & decided to reinstall Hitman on console & I hadn’t played in 10 yrs, & I recently got back into it, with WOA, been havin a blast.

Anyway I totally had this memory of this little addictive side-mode that had only one map, it was in my head as I reinstalled on console even. I figured there’d be 20 of those little fun side sniper maps by now, I loved how it broke it up, felt different but still had a little puzzle to it.

I thought something was wrong that there’s only 3. Did people not enjoy them? They were such a nice little side-dish!! I played the patient zero campaign & at least the Colorado one gave me some of those feels. Anyway, it makes me curious if A., there’s ever any possibility of more, & B., why in the world stop at 3, it seems such a small & odd number, did people really not like them?

(Really, If ya added some unlocks & a little story etc, I could even picture that bein a little game unto itself I’d pay $20 for like how Fallout made Fallout Shelter. Obvs it’d need punched up as a full game, but still…All sorts of things ya could do with that setup.)

Idk, I imagine u here have probably had this question before, but I’m coming from a unique angle I guess, an angle of being stupefied when I loaded it up that this little addictive side mode that stuck in my head for 10yrs seems like it got so abandoned I just wonder what happened. Even if not everybody was into it, there was somethin there, even if unperfected, there was potential. Maybe yall/IOI/whoever’s reading this can think of how to punch it up & make it better.

IOI sure seems to like coming up with new modes, maybe somethin will happen when H4 gets made/added, who knows. I know everybody’s probably currently thinking of or working on DLC for 007 rn etc, but Somethin tells me there were more maps. There’s probably more sitting unfinished somewhere? Idk.

But bottom line is that it was enough ddifferent from main campaign & all other modes that it genuinely felt like a mini-game, a side-mode, & that made it feel like a fun addictive little break after a long run in a reg map.. So I guess I’m asking what happened & if anything like that can make a return in one way or another. And what the rest of yall thought of it. Sorry so long.

Interesting perspective!

I imagine the sniper maps, while very simplistic compared to the sandbox levels, still required a lot of work and it was always meant as just a little bonus. They might have had ideas for more locations but the demand for more just wasn’t there.

I enjoyed them for the most part. It was just a chore to replay them over and over to unlock everything if you wanted to reach the max level and some challenges required you to wait a long time for the NPCs to get in place.

In hindsight, maybe I “only” liked them because sniping is just a big trope in hitmen movies and games and I felt the sniper opportunities in the sandbox maps were a bit underwhelming.

Maybe future Hitman games could have maps big enough to allow for sniping opportunities like in the sniper maps but seamlessly integrated into the sandbox? Imagine Himmelstein but you can walk around the map and choose a sniping spot yourself … or ditch sniping and go infiltrate the wedding.

They’re cute puzzles with lots of easter eggs hidden in them, but they lack the proper replayability of regular Hitman levels. I admit to grinding them out for achievements but I needed a guide open for some of the more esoteric ones and they quickly stopped being fun as a result.

It’s the kind of mode that needs its own dedicated game to properly explore sniping mechanics. Have you ever played Sniper Elite?

I haven’t but it came up yesterday when I looked up more “more games like hitman,” just on a blind chance there was one I hadn’t heard of or tried. That came up. If it’s somethin like hitman sniping. I might check it out, thx!

Yeah, the sniper elite series as a whole is a great sniper game, though I’d say 2-4 would be a good entry point to the series. The first one I only recommend if you really love sniper elite.

I’d like to see more sniper maps if they’d set them in places 47 hasn’t been to yet. It would be cool to see one set somewhere in Australia, or some safari where 47 has to snipe poachers and prevent losing too many albino rhinos or something.

I personally have wanted a Sniper Assassin map set in Khandanyang, as that would be the first time we’d see the country in a Hitman game.

It does have background story significance as Hantu Port several Elusive Targets, and even the Target Hush from the main game (Chongqing) all are tied to the country/the Po family.

I’ve made several comments about my request before, so I’d be down for one last Sniper map.
