Ask HMF anything

Thank you so much for looking!

I don’t know exactly, what it was, if it was some beta or something else. But yes, it was posted some time ago, I think one of the first videos of Dubai

I found it  Starts at about 57:35 Minutes.

Thanks so much to @LandirtHome for the effort to search for it

Cool that you found it
That’s interesting to look at.

Grey emoted much more. I get why you wanted to find it @Mini.

(also yep : offline, from the date and platform I presume a disc version obtained before the proper launch)

Tbh I like the final version more

I mean, yes, Grey is an emotional man, and yes, I can see him crying. But not in that particular moment. It felt OOC. I like the final version more, because he is audibly touched but not crying :see_no_evil:

I’m still confused by this. Not to put too fine a point on game development integrity, but never would I have extrapolated such a wide-spread phenomena.

Does anyone else have concerns for this?

At first, I was surprised that so many people got that invitation e-mail. For example, I didn’t expect to get it myself, but I was very excited, when I saw it.
Then again, the registration was only mean’t to show interest. That doesn’t mean all of us will get in, unfortunately.

could you please say this in human rather in pseudo intellectual mumbo jumbo that reads about as nicely as sandpapering your eyes

When the registration emails came about, people were quick to boast how fortunate they were for receiving one. This is true for this case when so many people are saying it all at once, and I’m only inferring/concerned why this was happening.

I think it was assumed that IOI would contact people at random (since according to Travis) “there was no signing up – people would be contacted”…

So when people started getting emails they thought they were lucky and felt a need to let others know how lucky they were.

But I think most of us understand now that that initial email wasn’t for the play-testing. Just letting IOI know who was interested in the results of the testing(?). Or something like that.

Edit: Would it have been better if anyone that got an email from IOI that they kept quiet about it?

This might be suited to site feedback, but… I’m going to guess that Freelancer will have its own forum category. Right?

Not really sure if this is the right place to ask: When H3 was released on Epic I bought it there and transferred everything from Steam to Epic.
Now I want to start fresh on Steam. If I buy H3 there does this overwrite my stats on my IOI account? Or do I have the option to switch between accounts (with absolutely nothing on Steam and 100% completion on Epic)?

No it doesn’t. Steam and Epic are considered two separate platforms now. They don’t even share the same pool of player-created contracts (despite their IDs all start with number “1”). It also specifies on the official guide that Epic’s progression cannot be carried over to Steam:

For the sake of clarity, please note that it is not possible to move progression from HITMAN 3 (PC/Epic) → HITMAN 3 (PC/Steam).

So in short, your Epic stats are safe. You can safely start fresh on Steam and switch between them.

Thanks! Oh, the joy of starting fresh with all the grinding…

Thankfully we can boot up the tech test in offline mode and fiddle around in the options menu.

So level with me, PC people… how bad are these default settings for me? :grimacing:

Eh, it will be playable. Not beautiful, but considering how little VRAM you have, it’ll be good enough.

I’ve been watching a playthrough of God of War: Ragnarok, and though the gameplay looked subpar the story got me really interested in reading about the norse myths and legends again.

So does anyone know any good books about norse mythology that aren’t the book by Neil Gaiman.

I keep seeing people use the term “sky box” when talking about the sky on the Hitman maps. I can’t take it anymore: what the hell is a “sky box?”

Take for example the older games… Like Tomb Raider back in the PS1 days. On some levels, you could look up to the “sky” and see these graphics that wrap around… Like someone placed a giant bowl, open side down, with clouds painted on it, and you’re looking up at/into it. If it weren’t there it’d probably look all black… Like the 1st TR game - The Lost Valley. The sky was black because it lacked a “sky box”.

But that’s just the primitive version…

In modern games, a skybox is essentially the “graphics” for the sky.

Edit: Unless it’s a digital limit that could be potentially filled. I suppose it’s that too. But I’m pretty sure it can be used to show what time of day you’re wanting the player to see. Like a ‘Day Sky Box’, ‘Cloudy Sky Box’, or ‘Starry Night Sky Box’.

I guess. :man_shrugging:

In order to understand what a sky box is, you need to understand what are the limits of the real life world, which don’t exist, you could go to every spot of space with the right equipment which might be a way to say that it is our sky box, like shit, I can’t just go to space if I want to , so if you understand the limits of the real life world, then you must understand that the game has real limits and that it’s pretty much a box, you can’t keep going up at a certain point, and even if you’d get as low as possible underneath the map, you’ll die at some point, making it the limit, pretty much it.

Any reason you doesn’t want to read anything by Gaiman? Here are two other alternatives.

The Poetic Edda - Stories of the Norse Gods and Heroes
By Jackson Crawford

And

The Wanderer’s Havamal by Jack Crawford. The Havamal is the closest you come to a “Bible” it’s rules to live by from Odin. It’s written in poems.
