Coin passive abilities/variations

Good evening, agents.

As of right now, every single coin functions exactly the same. My proposal is to add additional traits to certain ones, which would alter their behavior, usage cases, niche pick-ability and enrich your gameplay without affecting the balance at all. They’d essentially get traits (like how silverballer has “steady aim” or krugermeier has “subsonic”).

Coin/Classic coin - default behavior.

Gold coin/Greedy little coin - “Shiny” trait, attracts 2 NPCs simultaneously (like kiwi toy), one from the noise and other from seeing the coin fall. Only 1 of them would pick it up.

Casino Monarchique chip (both 100k and 1m) - “Smooth” trait, the thrown chip will slide forward (direction of the throw) for a fair distance until it hits a wall, instead of bouncing additional few times.

The Purple Streak Coin - “Sticky” trait, the coin will stick to the first surface it contacts (including walls) instead of bouncing. NPCs can still pick them up and pocket them normally, unless you throw it at a ceiling or very high up in the wall.

ICA … performance coin - “Flat” trait, if thrown towards the door, the coin will slide beneath it a tiny bit, making the next NPC who investigates it open the door with 100% guarantee. You can already make NPCs open doors with current coins, this would simply make it more consistent.

Doubloon/Commemorative token - “Intriguing” trait, the NPC who picks up the coin will examine the coin for a bit longer (not too much, just extra 3-5 seconds), before returning to what they were doing. (Btw, I propose that both should be unlocked from Haven and Sgail escalation challenge).

Collector’s coin/ICA outstanding service coin (freelancer exclusives) - “Recouping” trait, should you lose either during a mission, it will be automatically returned to the safehouse and -500 merces would be subtracted (can technically go into -1k debt).

I think it’s a good idea to give players a reason to bring different coins for different purposes, and I see you’ve chosen ways that aren’t overpowered either. It would certainly justify 47’s collection of seemingly random coins!

P.S. Welcome to the forum

Hello! welcome to the forum!

The performance coins are limited to those from 2016 who did a now-impossible to complete transfer process. I don’t dislike the effects though, but having mechanics tied to unobtainable coins is not the best idea.

I don’t think that’s a good idea. It just ruins what niche the melee distractions have in that regard. Also, if the animation is just them staring at the ground for 3 - 5 seconds, then that’s just look like something has gone wrong with the game.

Thanks!
In regards to doubloon/Commemorative token - you know the animation when guards find a weapon and they pick it up while saying “A weapon? Who leaves a weapon lying around?”. The animation that I had in mind is similar, except a bit shorter and instead of that voice line they’d just say “huh? strange” while investigating the coin that they just picked up, before stashing it away. Also it would work on both guards and civilians.

If a vanilla coin would keep their attention for ~3 seconds from the moment they reach it (to pick it up), these two would be ~6 seconds.
