Thanks! This worked for me, with one additional step: I had to go into Steam → Settings → Controller → General controller settings and check “Xbox Configuration Support”. I did also check “Xbox Extended Feature Support”, which installed a driver and made me reboot. My triggers did not work until I did this.
Also, for anyone else who doesn’t have the controller input do anything in game, make sure you don’t have any other joysticks or virtual joystick drivers like vJoy connected/enabled. My Xbox One Series X Elite Xtreme Whatever™ controller had to be the only controller listed.
