Dartmoor Garden Show

I guess this particular one will be an Enhanced Escalation, because we know that it will be available for contacts mode. None other Escalation allows that

There was one once.

But many complained how it it was impossible to navigate the menu. Not that it is much better now.

I think we spend so much wanting ā€œbetterā€ content that we forget how lucky we are to have ANY content. I don’t know if anyone remembers that time a few years ago that Square Enix left IO to die? And the trilogy almost ended after one game?

It’s a small miracle IO is in the position it’s in today. Could some things be better? Sure. But they could also be far worse. I’m hoping for a few things before all is said and done on the world of assassination (mainly, permanent reactivation of the elusive targets) but I’m going to reserve my final thoughts for after they stop supporting the game and there’s nothing left; then I can more accurately judge what we ended up with.

Until then, I’m going to enjoy what we have (and whatever we get in the coming months) and be thankful IO survived 2017 to be able to give it to us.

The man with the Hitchhiker’s name is right, we already set to have more ETs than last game and so far ever single one has had something unique and now we are getting an event level for free and it looks much better than Snow Festival. It could be better but it could be worse, IO don’t have to do this, they could easily just stop all of this and focus on 007 or what have you. I say we enjoy what we can get.

Hitman 2016 = a lot of Bonus missions and Missions
Hitman 2 = big maps to explore never get boring
Hitman 3 = The game of Escalations , spend money for Escalations Dlc and even the best thing that was in the game (Egg Hunt) was taken from us lol

I agree with everything you’ve posted here, and without arguing against any of the points you’ve made I’d like to add an additional point in the ā€˜other’ direction, so to speak:

I think whilst we should recognise and celebrate the fact that there’s an IOI in business in 2021, while HITMAN 3 is still a live game that is still being worked upon and edited as we speak, it’s a good thing for Hitman fans to give IOI their honest feedback so that IOI can make better decisions on where to direct their future efforts on the game. As long as that feedback is given in a spirit of good faith and constructive discussion, it’s just as acceptable for that feedback to be negative as it is positive. In one of the more recent IOI Insider streams, Travis acknowledged that IOI want to hear what fans think of the ongoing evolution of HITMAN 3 in an honest and constructive manner, and wants there to be a dialogue between IOI and the fans. As long as everybody is respectful and doesn’t put across their points in bad faith, then we should feel like we can let IOI know about all the things we love and all the things we think they should do differently - they want us to let them know our thoughts.

Now of course IOI don’t have to actually action every last fan request and we should remember that as the creators of the game they have final say over all the creative decisions, but while the game is still a live game and will develop further before its end-of-development-life and eventual final state, now is exactly the time when we should be giving IOI our feedback so that they have time to implement any features/content that the fans are asking for and that they are excited/willing/able to deliver. If we don’t deliver our feedback (both positive and negative) now, then the game will reach it’s end-of-development-life and it will be too late to make any further changes.

We should sing IOI’s praises when they do things we like (and I’m pretty certain that we all do), and equally we should be confident in telling them the things we’re less happy with so that they have that information and have the time to act on it should they choose to do so.

Correct! Which leads me to believe that each of the gardens will be from places we visited from around the world, like maybe Italy or Paris.

Completely agree, constructive criticism is more than fine anywhere and I continue to give IO my fair share. As you say, I’m mostly calling out stuff that’s not particularly helpful and is more akin to whining when we’re lucky to have anything to whine about.

I think you had a more scholarly way of putting it.

It’s definitely not better this way. The menus are still messed up, in my opinion.

Oh, I’m not saying mistakes haven’t been made (though, one could argue some of IO’s overzealousness in touting the financial success of Hitman 3 comes in part from them remembering their dire straits of a few years ago) but a lot of what I read from some people reads like whining instead of, as @scat1620 said, offering constructive criticism. I’m mostly calling out that stuff and the tendency of some to demand maps and/or missions and citing completely different situations and release models as to why we should have them already.

TL;DR: Keep offering constructive feedback and suggestions until IO stops releasing new updates and content and save the outright anger and hostility for after that if/when we don’t get all of our wildest dreams.

Yeah I hate when people demand new maps, that’s obviously a giant effort and unreasonable to demand.

But a couple paid bonus missions and free special assignments before their support ends… I think is entirely reasonable. Not to mention the usual ā€œImprove contracts mode at allā€ etc etc

Anyway, don’t want to de-rail. Looking forward to this mainly for contracts mode tbh, though hopefully the escalation itself is something I feel is fun to come back every now and then (almost never happens with escalations for me). Still don’t see why they couldn’t have made this a ā€˜special assignment’ instead, let’s see if they’re actually taking advantage of the point of escalations, or if they’re just doing it because they didn’t want to put the resources in to making a briefing like they’d have to do if it was an SA or Bonus Mission

Fair. At any rate, it looks interesting so I’m cautiously optimistic. Honestly, though, I’d probably be content for awhile if they let me have the eggs from Berlin permanently (but I’m a simple man).

When we ask for a new map, it’s only because they did it in H2. They gave new missions with revamped locations in H1 so it seemed not that unreasonable to think they’d do something in that direction for last installment of the trilogy.
I’ll take again RE Village as an example, but when producers declare fans have been actively asking for dlcs and so they’ve decided to grand their wish, it was planned since day one of development. It’s some sort of an acknowledged riddle between developers and players.
I know dlcs/new contents etc, demand a lot of work but to me, so far, H3’s legacy commitment has been a little dry and that’s just not fair. Game sold itself beyond expectations, a following year of new contents sounds… logic? fair? cool? as planned? expected? wished?

I join the others in here who are still disappointed by the content we’re getting on HITMAN 3 since launch…

As a huge fan of the franchise i’m saddened to see how this last game is being treated in terms of content and attention

Since it’s supposed to be the ultimate chapter of the trilogy i thought that they would make everything possible to make this one the greatest of them all. It seems that i was wrong.

Sadly after seeing the roadmaps and the released DLCs since the game’s launch i think we are very far from what fans expected for the ultimate installment of the franchise, particularly when it’s meant to be the last one for the years to come.

Compared to the previous HITMAN installments, this third (and last) episode of the revamped franchise seems very low in terms of content, mostly being a pack of escalations, even if this last one is an interesting modification to the escalation concept.

Compared to HITMAN 2016 and HITMAN 2 where there was a pack of Bonus Missions, new maps and additional side missions, this new game is only getting a series of escalations and short temporary/permanent events, which is far away from the quality content fans expected after all the amazing things they’ve been through from all those years and knowing this will be the last HITMAN game for a while and the one most people will play and remember.

It’s too bad that after the huge financial success of the company they just decided to move on and go make the Bond videogame, leaving only a few part of the development team focusing on this game. I expected a much better caring from the studio that brought 47 to life and the game that helped them to be known worldwide

This third and final installment of the HITMAN saga deserved way better treatment and polish in the end. Let’s hope that the next months will be better in terms of content and that this third and final game will get the treatment, quality and content it deserves, even if my expectations are close to zero after seeing how they’re handling the situation :grimacing:

There is quite a big difference, the two new maps we got in H2 where planned. It was content that was likely cut due to IO’s situation when they nearly where going bankrupt. It had to be finished at a later point in time. The bank and Haven mission was also part of the narrative of the trilogy. The story have now concluded, which is why IO been upfront regarding new maps from the start.

We are still getting a bunch of new content, dlc and so on. Weather we like it or not is for us to figure out. All in all we got a pretty big catalogue of content we can play around with within H3 launcher.

The game have been out around a half year, the Patient Zero DLC came out a year later with the GOT edition. Who’s to say what’s to come down the line. Patience, we might be getting more content.

Eh…comparing Hitman 3 post-launch content to pervious games is always a bit sketchy for me.

Namely when at best it took time after release to break even and then start making a profit for H1 and H2 it likely really strained those game’s DLC budget.

Hitman 1 DLC, Unsure to include the bonus mission content as always seemed like it was packaged with the whole game. Patient Zero DLC came out a whole year and a-half after Hitman 1’s Paris mission was released and a whole year after Hokkaido was released. So was a fair wait and in all fairness IO didn’t announce till close to release.

Hitman 2 DLC was different with alot of it already being made during Hitman 2 game development hence good turn over from Hitman 2 release to DLC. First major DLC which was Hantu Port was out March and then the first map was June. So around a good 7-8 months for a new Map.
Which from what I remember did have some strained free-content and the special assignments which were suspected to be have been intended for ETs.

Hitman 3 where after 2 releases failed expectations. IO seemed to of taken a more of a wait and see before dedicating to DLC which I can’t blame them for.

That is not to say IO can’t be criticised as I do think they have made a number of mistakes for Hitman 3 post launch. Lack of communication being the biggest (Community contracts, ET changes which never came etc…) which IO has apologised for and is getting better at , 7DS announcement really…really could of been better. Plus if they also announced on live-streams ahead of time when it will be a quiet month (June) that can help temper expectations.

But feels like the engine is starting to turn with what looks to be much better 7DS content, new map variation with contracts mode and if there was be a new ET for each sin then that will already be more then Hitman 2 ETs. Also while everyone seems bit tired of escalations, the free ones also seem to be getting some improvements like the Sniper team one or the knife throwing one which is lot more different then what was made for H2)
If they are gonna do full bonus missions or extra campaign it will likely be released early next year.

I“m keeping hopes that IO are working on a proper bonus mission in the background (or even better a series of them, perhaps in the vein of PZ) and plan on releasing it around the time the game hits its year anniversary and (hopefully) a Steam release. Until then, it makes sense that they“re focusing on the easy-to-make content for monthly updates. That being said, I“m not exactly a fan of escalations in general (the only one I really enjoyed was the deluxe Chongqing one, and even that one gets ruined for me due to the sodding time limit) and won“t be getting the 7DS pack until the game hits Steam, as there hasn“t been anything so far that would make me want it immediately.

Back on topic: as for the DGS itself, I“m curious about it and the changes to the map itself, but am so far really only excited for it because of the neat suit. I“m obviously not thrilled that it“s an (partial) escalation, but I“ll wait with my judgement when I actually play it. And the randomly generated targets sound interesting, but at the same time it will likely rob them of any interesting background (unless it turns out to be a number of pre-selected NPCs which will happen to be elaborated upon through dialogue). At the very least though, I“m glad it“s a permanent event from the get go and doesn“t come with a one year waiting period like Holiday Horders, Snow Festival, and (presumably) the Easter Egg Hunt.
