Do you feel Hitman franchise is still underrated

Do you feel that Hitman franchise is still way underrated? This article explains why Hitman WoA is still underrated after many years.

I find it surprising that I hardly see people talking about Hitman franchise, whether on social media or by popular Youtubers. Very few do.

I have been a Hitman player for a very long time. I started playing in November 2009, started with Hitman Contracts- then Hitman SA, Hitman Codename 47, Hitman Blood Money in 2010, Hitman (2016) in 2018, Hitman Absolution and Hitman 2 in 2019 and eventually I finished Hitman 3 in December 2022.

I have always loved this franchise, and even though it was 6 years till we saw Hitman Absolution after Hitman BM, I knew and had hope that Agent 47 would return (which he did!) and I also knew that he would see more of his brothers as an ally or antagonist (and yeah, we saw Lucas Grey).

But what surprises and also saddens me that how this franchise is still underrated despite being running for 25 years. On social media , we often see people talking about their favorite games. I see everyone talking about GTA, Elden Ring, Dark Souls, Witcher 3 (which is my favorite too, after Hitman), God of War, and even racing games like Forza Horizon. But I have probably never seen anyone talk about Hitman franchise.

Not saying the game is not popular at all. It is, but only to some extent. I feel the game has not even received 25 percent of the popularity it deserves, to be honest.

I feel the reason behind is that the game requires you to use brains, which most people unfortunately lack. They just want a game where you need to mindlessly shoot zombies or terrorists, but they don’t have the brains and the patience to play a game that requires you to think strategically.

In my opinion, I think the Hitman franchise is in the strongest position it has ever been in. Plus, the fanbase seems to be growing given the recent releases to both Nintendo Switch and PSVR2.

I eagerly await 47’s return in the next big Hitman game :slightly_smiling_face:

^^ this!

People want shooting games that are all reflex and a little bit of map memory. Hell some may prefer no map memory but the game doesn’t create enough new maps for that. Puzzle games will always be less popular bc of the time required to get into them.
