I think you mean Troutt died of the poison. Still, awesome timing.
Indeed, I have amended it.
Ahhh, hello you two! The surprise hit of the H2 ET’s.
This is one of the better ideas IO had in H2’s life; retconning seperate contracts and making their lore more interesting by interweaving two targets together. I really like this setup and I’m annoyed they didn’t do this for anyone else.
I generally don’t have too much bad to say here. They’re challenging in their own ways without being overly-difficult, The Guru can be killed in a few ways once you isolate him, and they feel very separate, by nature of their original designs, but work surprisingly well together in gameplay.
My only concern is that The Congressman is harder to isolate, and that essentially railroads you to a poison kill as he drinks from a glass in the Caruso manor wine cellar. But electricity traps are also still possible, so it’s not as linear as, say, Vincente.
Easy C tier I think.
As usual, all the 2016 ET’s have their own seperate videos on my feelings of them I made back in the Christmas 2022 period.
Same. Probably the most obvious pair of targets they could connect is The Forger and The Broker, given that they already have a lore connection built-in. Maybe they could even combine The Iconoclast and The Heartbreaker, like Philo uses Joanne instead of killing his victims himself. If they wanted to be more sadistic, they could put The Ex-Dictator and The Warlord together or combine The Chameleon and The Bookkeeper together, keeping all the objectives.
Thanks I won’t be able to sleep tonight after those visions of horror :x
Boy oh boy I certainly do love it when Anthony L Troutt visits the basement multiple times but doesn’t drink from the poisoned wine glass! Doing it on my other 5 accounts he drinks within like 6 minutes, but on my main account it took half an hour!
Ugh I guess it’s finally time to go Troutt fishing in the loo again -_-
When he was sick in the toilet and when I came to pick him up, FOR SOME REASON HE WOULD GET DISTRACTED BY ME AND AFTER THAT HE WOULD LEAVE AS IF NOTHING HAD HAPPENED
I had zero motivation to play this one even remotely properly, so on Steam I used the SDK to give myself two red eggs and used them to kill the targets and leave.
Otherwise, presumably I would have played it in the same way I did in 2024. And 2023. And 2022. And 2021. Shame IO isn’t listening that everyone is bored of the same ETs year after year.
I was going to do it using the old reliable too, though I discovered a quicker route. It requires a Sieker, Durian (Praise the Durian) and two lethal syringes.
Start as a chef in the Mansion, grab a lethal syringe pickup from the pantry and pick up the expired can of sauce to then throw at the CCTV camera to destroy it. Walk over to Magee and snipe him using the Sieker from the stairs to the toilets, then wait until he gets behind the wall and poison him. Immediately drop the Sieker to get past the frisk zone back into the mansion. Drop the Durian near Troutt and he’ll either go into the basement bathroom or the mansion bathroom on the left side of the mansion. Poison/drown him.
I managed to get 4 minutes on the clock using this strategy. There are faster methods but I couldn’t be bothered to finagle my way through speed-run strategies for an ET which I frankly dislike.
EDIT: Also, were you waiting by the Harbour for him to drink it? For me, it caused inconsistencies animation wise on my end if I was at the harbour rather than following Troutt close enough to see him do the drink animation. I’m guessing the game may have been particularly unlucky for you in animation/dialogue skipping if you’re too far away. Though, this is a fairly unpredictable ET for strategies like that. Sometimes he drinks quickly, sometimes not.
Nope, I was waiting in the wine room itself. The first time he went down in the basement it didn’t play any of his dialogue, the second time he played the dialogue discussing the ventilation system built by Caruso but not the wine tasting, and then the third time around he finally played al his dialogue and drank.
Wow, sorry to hear that then. I remember one time I was doing the ET and it took me until 45 minutes for him to get poisoned, and I was at the harbour exit.
SASONKO No Loadout.
Not the smoothest run to watch - lots of waiting and two bad coin throws for The Guru, but got them anyways and without cheese items.
Not quite sure how I’m gonna approach this one this year, but I’m gonna see if I can take them out with an SMG and an Assault Rifle, respectively. Or maybe only use the AR on Troutt and maybe use the combat knife on Magee, if it’s still there. We’ll see.
Ok, so this didn’t go as I had set out to, but I think it’s better for it. I know I was going to go for direct murder in the case of repeat killers and proxy killers, and while these two targets qualify, I decided to go for an accident run since it is a contract that is political in nature. I took out Magee in the usual way of dropping a chandelier on his head from the upper floor of city hall where the winch is located, after dropping off two pistols picked up from the apartments to get the two wandering guards in here to leave. That was easy, but that one came second, rather than first, as I have always done with this ET.
This time I took out Troutt first, although that was more based on his loop timing than me, as I had actually expected to finish with Magee before Troutt’s route made him fall into my trap. Originally I tried to repeat what I did last year with using an emetic to get Troutt to go to the ledge where he pukes and you can kick him down, similar to Caruso, but it kept going wrong and I was losing patience, just wanting to get this over with today. Then, the idea struck me of what I should do instead. I restarted the mission with the oil canister in a black briefcase in my possession, and had the RFID taser in the pantry hidden stash. After sneaking onto the villa property and getting the disguise in the basement laundry room, I grabbed some rat poison from the kitchen, went to Troutt’s wine glass, and once all the staffers were looking away, poisoned the drink. Then I went to the bathroom nearby that I knew Troutt would go to, and you can probably see where this is going: I poured out the oil right in front of the toilet and set the taser in the far end of the puddle, where it would not trigger until Troutt was touching the puddle. The hardest part was getting Troutt to pick up the goddamned triggering coin without his bodyguards or his staff guide going for it first, but eventually I managed to place it so that only he tried to pick it up, then I went and changed back into my starting outfit and snuck out of the villa, then headed to take care of Magee. Got the notification of smoked Troutt just as I was sneaking into the window of city hall to to eliminate Magee, so I bounced once that fuck was dead.
Two terrible but unrelated accidents for these two old bastards and nobody saw a thing. First time using the RFID too. Perfect.
Can I KO both Keith and Katherine? I want to do something with him and these two are kinda in my way.
Yes. The stipulation that they can’t be harmed in any way from the original Guru ET was removed for the Deceivers combo ET.
The more I am planning accidents for the target the more I wish the RFID Explosive wasn’t such a bad item, if only it had a smaller explosion radius or a bigger vertical trigger radius it would allow so many more creative takedowns.
Exhibit A (allowing the chandelier to fall down when someone is below):
Exhibit B (allowing an accident kill instead of an explosive one):
And yes this is a foreshadowing on how I’m gonna get them, since certain explosives (usually the round ones) seem to stick onto chandeliers (which I hope remains as a FEATURE even if it might be a bug).
