Previous ET’s aren’t nearly as complex or as in-depth as this one. Even The Banker is fairly linear, though there are open-ended routes that would not be out of place in a special assignment.
This ET feels like a mission that was turned into an ET because all the other CelebrET’s were Elusives, so this had to be one too. It has plenty of depth to stand on its own without the behaviour that ET gameplay disincentivizes. I don’t even think ET’s suck, it’s more that the more complex you make the mission, the harder it inherently is, and the more unfitting it becomes as an Elusive, which require more simple mission layouts and objectives.
I’m going to post later on some of the things this ET implies for the series’s storyline and a few other things, but first, so I can cover everything, I wanted to ask: has anyone seen, during the mission briefing or anywhere else while playing the mission, any indication of the ICA’s logo, or their involvement?
Don’t think I saw any ICA-related stuff in the briefing or in-game, but Room 207 (Jackie Carrington’s room) has the same news report from Whittleton Creek playing, meaning it’s taking place before Sgail happens (probably within the same two-month gap that Ambrose Island does).
Well, Smith’s comments indicate the Banker taking place between H1 and H2, so they’re definitely involved there. I think the stash blurbs and the TV news report for the Infiltrator are just recycled stuff that don’t really provide context on the timeline one way or another. But, if there’s no confirmed appearance of anything directly relating to ICA, except perhaps Lee’s use of the word “agency”, which could mean either ICA or the branch of British Intelligence he’s working for (likely MI6), then that helps to narrow down the points I’ll be making later.
By any chance, is there an orthodox way to get rid of the barbell guy so Xiao can exercise? The only thing that worked for me was scaring him off with bullet hits, but it’s kinda dirty.
I’m curious what cancelling the funds on the laptop in one of the henchman’s room - I presume that this just is another way to take him out of the tournament?
Don’t interfere with the board (other than making sure Roland doesn’t beat Lee) and eventually Xiao will fight the barbell guy, and when their fight is over, she’ll get to the barbell before he does and he’ll walk away and you can then kill her with it. The trick is making sure the other woman in this area doesn’t see you.
It can also be used to interrupt him poisoning Lee if they are meeting for the first time before you’ve had a chance to get an antidote. Trigger the laptop before they shake hands and it can avoid the poisoning, at least that time.
Well, there’s also a few other possibilities, depending on if this mission takes place during the Freelancer period of the timeline. But, I wanted to make sure I hadn’t missed any clear and obvious sign that ICA is involved before presenting all points, which I’ll do later tonight when I get off work. This ET has some of the most fun possibilities to consider on just how 47 and Lee are working together that we’ve had in some time.
I’ve played it a little bit. I’m only halfway through the comments here, but my reactions and opinions are clearly shared by many. I will simply say this for now:
The Elusive Target mission model does not work anymore when you need to play in the Arcade first to experiment without fear of insta-fails, timers, target escapes, bugs, and missing content and context clues. The Arcade should be for further fun and limit-pushing, not for practice on how to not lose the mission due to unforeseen poisons and panics.
This mission being an Elusive Target is anathema to Hitman. The devs should know better.
I like a lot about this mission* but it’s kind of trying to do too much and stuff too many inconveniences into a format you can’t save in and can easily and on-script insta-fail.
Now I’ve read through the entire thread, I can make the following comment: Turning off the amplifier behind Jordan Cross’s recording booth causes a showering NPC in the basement to get distracted and make his way all the way up to the amp. This, I must say, struck me as odd.
No (I mean maybe, but I haven’t seen anything) but there’s a magazine in a bedroom that implies that Novikov is still alive…
This guy’s probably the only Cross Crew guy left on the map (well I haven’t explored Cross’ wing during this mission actually, but it makes sense IOI would have reused the Source setup and not the Club 27 one) which would make him the only NPC responding to that distraction? Now that you mention it maybe it works in The Source too (I don’t remember if he’s there during this mission)?
I am now ready to present the comprehensive list of the best to worst tournament fighters. The non-unique fighters anyway. 36 fights tried and tested. Every one on the list defeats the ones under them.
Yu Lei
Helen Peng
Mateo Garcia
Sita Achari
Shen Fang
Igor Staub
Kaylee Edwards
Kevin Hughes
Edgar Zhu
Though I haven’t tested the three targets, Bruce Lee and 47 I must say it is obvious they would all win against the rest. I’m guessing Jiaolong Wu is a better fighter than the generals so if including all of them than the list would probably be as following.
Lee Siu Loong (Bruce Lee)
Rory Cutmore (47)
Jiaolong Wu
Xiang Weisheng
Xiao Hu
Roland Chau
Yu Lei
Helen Peng
Mateo Garcia
Sita Achari
Shen Fang
Igor Staub
Kaylee Edwards
Kevin Hughes
Edgar Zhu
There’s also the already defeated J. Tsui and F. Swift but I can only conclude they would be under Xiao Hu and Mateo Garcia respectively but not their exact placement on the list.
@474747 Nice work, happy cake day, and congrats on the post milestone!
I played the Arcade’s 2nd level and after messing about with the mechanics for 50 minutes and getting Lee to the end, the Dragon came down, they exchanged a few words, then the Dragon walked off and returned to only roaming upstairs. No further interaction possible. So I threw a razorblade at him eventually and will wait another day to play.
During my messing around, I went through this process:
Lee gets poisoned
As the Judge, I rearrange his next match to be against a regular fighter, not a general
I then start the match because I want to see if a poisoned Lee would win against a normie, but as it’s looking he’ll lose, I disqualify the other guy
Lee remains poisoned. I try to give him the antidote, but I cannot interact with him.
I then go through many of the other fights, disqualifying Chao and Xiao so only Zen remains to fight Lee
Once Zen comes over and shakes Lee’s hand, and he’s now double-poisoned, THEN you can give him the antidote.
So if Lee gets poisoned, and you make him win a match while poisoned, you can’t unpoison him until he’s been handshaken and repoisoned again.
