Elusive Target #37: EMINƎM vs. SLIM SHADY (Year 6: 27 July - 23 August 2026)

It would be perfect to swap to this two-handed animation when you use the “Steady Aim” perk by squeezing the trigger or pushing the shoulder button

I’d prefer a straight toggle on and off whenever holding a handgun and aiming. I’m thinking the same button used to zoom the map in and out, which for example on the Xbox is pressing down on the left thumb stick. Press that, 47 switches to a two-handed posture and remains there as long as you’re holding aim. Release aim, he returns to a standing position, press aim again, he takes up the two-handed aim position again. Press the L stick again, he reverts to a one-handed aim.

It could behave like zooming in with the sniper, just it gets like 10% more zoom for pistols while 47 holds it with both hands then.

I’ll ask if that is something we can add.

Bear with me, if I can’t go into details or have an answer for this at the moment. All I can promise, that I note every bit of feedback I read in this forum (which is a lot!) and will relay the communities’ sentiment internally.

I am still in sort of a “listening mode”, where I try to get a feel for the overall picture of all communities (forum, discord, socials, reddit, steam etc). As I am also currently finishing my onboarding onto other tasks lime patch notes fir example, I hope to be up-to-date and running before the holiday break in ~20 days.

Maybe you can be the first to listen to our calls… these high effort ETs should not be ETs. They are very different to when the ET system began in 2016 and were as simple as one new NPC walking around an otherwise unchanged map. The ET format is very bad for high effort content that changes a lot of the map. It does not encourage the player to try every elimination method, or listen to all the dialogue recorded and scripts programmed for the scenario, or just generally experience all the work your company has put into it.

My suggestion is to use the “Special Assignment” system, something only used once and briefly in HitmanTM 2. It’s what these ETs are but it does away with the ‘only complete once, high stakes fail’ thing. It can then come with some fun challenges which encourage replayability (which ET and ET Arcade do not), and players can take risks to experience different kill methods and scenarios without fear of any lockout (ETA) or permanent end (ET). The encouragement to buy the DLC version could be to probably shorten the free period, DLC owners are the only one who get the suits and items as currently, and then after the free period only DLC owners have the entitlement to keep playing the special assignment (As is currently with ETA); all without the weirdness of people having to wait 30 minutes (or 12 hours) for something they paid extra for

And just to see if I have any idea what I’m talking I’ll leave a little poll:

What is the best format for these higher effort celebrity collabs?
  • Special Assignment
  • Elusive Target + Arcade combo

I always thought the Special Assignments were Elusive Targets that just didn’t make the cut to be Elusive Targets. They feel that way, anyway.

Don’t forget the other advantages of the Special Assignment system:

  • The ability to save
  • The ability to select a preferred difficulty
  • The ability to play the mission offline

And I think a Special Assignment with several challenges would add more value to the game and more people would feel that it was worth a buy than the current ET Arcade for celebs.

You are correct. The first two Special Assignments, IO didn’t re-render the briefing videos once they were converted - which is why some overlays in them that have only ever been used in ETs can be seen (ie the target icon in the Embrace of the Serpent briefing as Diana says “your target is Blair Reddington” is stylised as a clock).

They fixed it in the second batch of Special Assignments as this was noticed prior to their release.

I prefer special assignments for one simple reason: challenges. It doesn’t matter if theres multiple ways to kill these celebrity targets, it would feel a million times better to me if I got the challenge complete sound to go with it. Plus, they get me to try methods I wouldn’t otherwise think of on a normal playthrough and actually “challenge” me to play the game differently. It’s what I feel is the one thing missing from these missions that would make them “perfect” additions to the game for me (yes I am a completionist and like checklists, sue me).

Obviously special assignments would be better than Elusive Targets. I mean, just from a business perspective I don’t understand how Elusive Targets would help at all. I get the FOMO aspect of it being limited time, but not the overly punishing one attempt thing

Oh wow 100% of us voted for a special assignment: that really is telling.

I’ve never seen a poll so comically one sided, beautiful.

I have no problem with ETs existing as special one-time events that will be associated with the achievement of non-repeatability.
Personally, I would prefer the option to play a given mission, such as Hokaido Snow Festival, in the case of more difficult ETs. To me, that’s a mission reminiscent of ET, but with challenges.

Great… now some executive in some boardroom in Copenhagen is going to be sitting in a meeting discussing this and declare “Yeah, but that one person on that one forum said they liked it the way it is!”
