Elusive Target #38: THE HARBINGER - Patient Zero REQUIEM, ft Milla Jovovich (25 February - 24 March 2026)

Just found it, honestly never went down that hallway in all my playthroughs lol

I was going to write a post praising and comparing many aspects, but practically everything has already been said, so I’ll just add that this is the best DLC released so far and one that partially justifies the title “Paid DLC” All the previous ones were charming in their own way, but the limited amount of potential possibilities cast doubt on whether they were truly worth the price.

What I expect from expansions like this:

  • new and varied opportunities

  • new interconnected equipment items

  • new mini-mechanics

  • new and numerous challenges

  • The ETs should be developed enough to function as a mini-mission package and be available as a separate mission in the Locations section

  • More additions to the Freelancer mode

  • I really like that the game doesn’t spell everything out and that you have to figure certain things out on your own - I hope there are more initiatives like this, because that’s exactly what I enjoy about the game.

What I don’t like:

  • the recurring issue of sound lag with every new content release - it really takes away the enjoyment

  • cosmetic additions to Freelancer that add very little (even the garden reduces functionality)

  • in this particular case, an overly linear and overly long path to trigger the actual mission sequence

  • Certain inconsistencies in the mission that feel unfinished (e.g., using the ring at the entrance causes the target to appear in the laboratory earlier; triggering the manifesto opportunity after the target has already been killed results in you going to the meeting spot with the leader, only for him to say that “someone has already taken care of it” - even if there’s no body present).

PS: I liked very much lasers, its bring me back first Resident Evil movie memories. Great easter egg.

some extra hidden dialogue with H.E.R.B. if you wait around in the room with the two scientist corpses. goes into the origins of the virus. might be more dialogue. don’t know. he makes a very specific and deliberate point that it is 5000 years old (some kind of Easter Egg clue? I inputted it into Alexa’s safe but no dice) and that it was brought over to wipe out an unnamed group of natives. didn’t record it, but should be easy enough to see for yourself.

also- all of the mansion guards outside the manor get despawned once Ether rolls in, and unlike the cheap trick in Chongqing, where some of those facility security (blue berets) get turned into the masked facility guards- all of the Ether containment get spawned in. alot of them are named John Doe according to the the mini-map, but a bunch of them also have unique names. all the guests have unique names too. also, weirdly enough, I noticed it despawns a couple of the generic guests too. want to say at least 2 just vanish- odd.

lastly- is is very easy to softlock yourself in the basement with Devereux. wanted to wallbang her when she gets close to the glass- but i tried with c4, xmas, and serpent’s bite a bunch. didn’t seem to work.

what’s really odd is that she can see bomb’s placed on the glass- but not 47. weird vision blocker ig.

Having thoroughly enjoyed “The Harbinger” and “The Contagion,” I’d like to share my thoughts.

This ET was positioned as the final chapter of Patient Zero, and it was quite an intriguing experience.

The mission being split into two parts with distinct content for each half, the underground lab triggering special events, the latter half descending into chaos with infected enemies appearing one after another as befits Patient Zero’s finale, Resident Evil elements scattered throughout
I enjoyed it from start to finish.
My favorite scenes were “Lilith injecting herself with the virus” and “47 dodging the laser.”

It was undoubtedly enjoyable content, but it inevitably makes me think that the level of polish in this content no longer fits neatly within the “Elusive Target” framework.
As many visitors to this forum have also mentioned, I believe it’s time for Celebrity Targets to be changed from “Elusive Targets” to permanent “Special Missions.”

Playing through this mission made me realize,With multiple mission storylines, multiple events, lethal gas and laser death events where one mistake is fatal, and the relentless escalation of infected enemies, a proper save/load system is sorely needed.

Furthermore, given the effort put into such extensive content, I’d love to see plenty of “challenge elements” – a hallmark of HITMAN.
For example, if designing challenges for this mission, I think the following would be interesting:

・Assassinate Lilith Devereux before she obtains The Carlisle Family Ring.
・Assassinate Lilith Devereux before she descends into the underground lab.
・Assassinate Lilith Devereux using the Bartoli Hunting Shotgun.
・Assassinate Lilith Devereux without infecting anyone.
・[REDACTED] Have Lilith Devereux killed by a third party.

・Desecrate Alexa Carlisle’s grave.
・Find the mansion’s master key.
・Find the greenhouse key.
・Collect all four Carlisle Family Rings.
・Discover the underground lab.
・Craft every cure item exactly once during a single mission.
・Cure any one person.
・Cure yourself.
・Escape by helicopter.

・Make Lilith Devereux slip on a banana peel on the event stage.
・Cure Lilith Devereux after she is infected with the virus.
・Eliminate all targets while infected with the virus yourself.
・Complete the mission without ever becoming infected yourself.
・Prevent Gregory Carlisle from becoming infected with the virus.
・Infected Rebecca Carlisle with the virus.
・[REDACTED] Completed the mission without the Aether biohazard team killing a single person.
・[REDACTED] Infected 47 or more people with the virus and treated them all.
・Completed the mission with 2 or fewer people infected with the virus.

This is purely my personal opinion, but I believe the Elusive Target should be changed into content that can be played consistently at any time.
On top of that, I thought it might be better to add “optional elements unique to that year” to the traditional live Elusive Target, similar to an arcade mode.
For example, Year 6 ET could be “Only one character can be knocked out,” Year 7 ET could be “Accidental deaths only,” and Year 8 ET could be “Lethal slow only.”
I think this would maintain the tension while still introducing a bit of change each year.
Of course, it’s strictly “Optional,” so there’s no need to achieve it.
I think it’s best to treat it as an element that only those who care about rank scores need to pursue

Anyway, I really enjoyed this Elusive Target too.
I hear there are still three more new Elusive Targets coming this year.
I’m thrilled to think there’s still plenty more HITMAN fun ahead.

I really enjoyed this ET. So many great possibilities to kill Lilith. Does she drop her ring after you kill her? I don’t think I’ve ever got the chance to pick it up. But maybe I was just distracted by other things

She does.

Alexa’s safe has the same code as in the regular mission, but it’s empty (at least in the first stage, but don’t think it would change in the second).

The little extra chat from HERB is quite fun. I particularly enjoyed his “Who made you?” question.

Shame they didn’t slap the name Lilith Devereux on a random non-speaking female NPC in The Source to retroactively have her be present like is mentioned in this mission.

In my eyes, just because she was in Thailand doesn’t mean she was at the cult meeting. But there’s other plot holes that are worse.

After more testing, once you leave the basement & start to get back to the main mansion floor, these 2 individuals (shown in picture below) are the only 2 infected right from the start! If you wanted to, you could deal with these 2 easily by using emetics & subdue both targets all before the infected part starts. The only other person who gets infected after these 2, is Robert Carlisle! But you can deal with this & stop the virus spreading to downstairs by using 2X Banana Peels for Suit Only/No KO. Plus Agent 47 won’t ever get infected no matter which approach you use. This all ties in with the Sniper Kill i was talking about earlier in the thread. Gameplay to be shared once i finish uploading it.

It’s suggested she’d have been using a different name back then anyway.

I wasn’t the biggest fan of Patient Zero because of how easily the virus can get out of control however after seeing how tame it is in this ET , I kinda wish it was that chaotic.

I loved how quickly the virus could spread in that mission. In fact, at times when wanting to do a kill everyone run, I would let the game just go for about a half hour while the NPCs all infect each other, then KO a few infected ones and drag them to places where they don’t normally wander so that other uninfected NPCs in safe seclusion could catch it too, and KO the ones in hazmat suits and take their outfits so they’d be exposed, and then once everyone’s infected, kill-em-all!

I may not be a fan but at least the music makes it feel like a movie.

More info on that in my post yesterday, and then zubin47’s an hour later.

I think we’ve argued once before about whether KO via banana should really count as “no KO”, rather than say “no non-accident KO”.

I’ve done a “12 minutes later” run with actual no KOs, although it does mean a bunch of infections need curing. It goes best when Charlotte decides to not join the crowd and infect half the foyer, but I did have one run where she infected a dozen people in the crowd and I somehow managed to perfectly lob three cure grenades from the balcony and cure them all.

i just looked, and i don’t have it either
@IOI_Artjoms @IOI this is becoming a major fail

3rd method:

Here is the SO/SA/Sniper Assassin Kill from the main road. I use 2X Banana Peels in this strategy, one to stop the 1st infected individual from spreading the virus downstairs & the 2nd one on Robert Carlisle! Usually Lilith Devereux will walk to talk to Robert Carlisle & infect him with the virus, but because he is not there, this will trigger her to eventually go outside to the balcony all alone for an easy kill! Her 2 Bodyguards will wait inside near the balcony doors. Once the virus has been prevented from spreading downstairs & the 2 individuals have been cured, she will then proceed to the balcony area outside the mansion. Robert Carlisle is the key for this to happen! Once he is out of the picture, then this opportunity is possible. It’s a long method, which could be easily reduced in time by speed runners, but its a super easy Sniper Kill from long distance right next to the mission exit & you can kill her in different ways if you want. Agent 47 out

U are not alone. I beat ET and Arcade ones like an hours after the patch hit and I’m still missing the reward. Pretty dissapointing.
