What? :o Still?
DM me your IO account details please (name and email).
Edit: Same for you @Minnow ! Give them to me. ![]()
No, only session data is stored on the server, the actual save data is stored locally on your machine/console. There’s no real way to prevent the user from loading a save from the server.
A fitting end for this humiliation of an ET. Obviously, SA failed.
This time the game trolled me twice:
Could be a perfect suit only/no loadout if not that blunder, with complete narrative and all three mission stories done.
Here’s one of my practice runs in ETA. Doesn’t look so cinematic and the story stuff’s mostly skipped here, but everything goes as planned, no bullshit surprises.
No offense intended here, but given the wide variety of acclaim this particular mission has received from other players, you may want to consider that the mission itself may not be the issue. Perhaps your computer just has a bad random seed or memory issues or some other technical fault, but the mission seems to be pretty well liked by everyone else commenting on it.
No hate towards the mission, I love it, it’s just funny how it humiliates me in particular. And only in the ET mode, when I’m trying to do it perfectly.
So, it turns out the issue was not that I didn’t have the duck, and was actually that I expected it to be under Explosives (like other ducks, since they actually are explosive) rather than Tools (with its fellow emetic devices)
Usually this happens to me because I look for poison gas devices (and the durian) under Poisons instead, but this time it was a little different :p
So, it seems like I have the duck after all :]
Did you complete the mission story? So the target getting shot by Ether?
I seem to have a memory of Anita Henley, aka the lady who you see walking up to the manor in the default starting location, reaching the office on the top floor to talk to the man she is with. When the infection starts, she is the lady smoking in the corridor connecting the entrance and the event hall, with her going into the latter after getting infected. Considering when she’s cured she moves to the entrance hall and smokes infinitely, is it actually possible for her to get up there and reunite or have I misremembered (quite possible)?
I’ve never seen Anita Henley do this but Julia Clutterbuck, who’s on the phone as you approach the manor, does go up there and sits on a chair near Holden Henley. Maybe that’s what you’re thinking of?
As a little side note, the Ether leader who can shoot Lilith is named Kevin Cox. Most Ether guards don’t have proper names, just being “John Doe”, but he has one :]
(I also modded them all to have proper names in my game, just for fun :p )
I probably am just getting mixed up with her, yeah
At least they’ve been named properly somewhere!! Such a shame to find out there’s a dozen John Does but then there’s ol’ Taint-Bollock Webster in the crowd which I suppose softens that blow a little
: P
Turns out I was wrong actually! There are John Does are mostly in the garden around the greenhouse - the ones in the main room of the manor do mostly have names!
Special shoutout to Terry Cloth, who’s a hazmat guard at the end of the path to your bike and thus incredibly hard to infect even if you’re trying :p
There’s also one just outside the manor doors named Vivian Birdsong. Not that significant, I just think it’s a really cool name :]
Too busy with his marvel rivals fame smh

This might not make complete sense, but I feel like IO missed out on a trick here. They could’ve given us a dialogue tree, where H.E.R.B would ask about Zachary, and you could choose to either tell him about Zachary’s death or not.
Event flow could look like the following.
A) NO: 47 and Diana don’t tell H.E.R.B about Zachary’s death.
H.E.R.B enacts containment protocol and tells us about materials for a cure in Zachary’s bedroom.
ETHER sends biosafety teams to the Manor and places the manor under lockdown, effectively ending all fundraiser events.
(pretty much identical to what we’ve already gotten)
B) YES: 47 and Diana let H.E.R.B know about Zachary’s demise.
H.E.R.B shuts themselves down (which could be lampshaded in the form of a unique line of dialogue from Devereux), and does not engage containment protocol or notify ETHER about the breach (and doesn’t tell you about the possibility of the materials for a cure being in Zachary’s room, either; ).
ETHER biosafety never arrives at the manor, and fundraiser events go on as usual (with unique mission opportunities here, just like in the previous case); this’d be a more challenging version of outbreak, with much more potential for things to go south.
It’d probably have been a bit much to actually implement in the game, but it’s a thought : )
There was this dialogue between 47, Diana and H.E.R.B regarding Zachery’s death but unfortunately it didn’t make the final cut unfortunately.

Good thing, too, because that figure makes no sense. I can’t remember if they specified anywhere in the mission how long Zachary has been dead, but I’m assuming that at least a year had passed since the start of the Freelancer era, possibly more, meaning it’s been at least two years since Zachary died. Assuming a roughly 2019-2020 period for when Zachary’s death occurred, and then considering that means at least two years have passed since then - and we can even allow for up to five years, then we are, at max, circa 2024-2025 when this mission takes place. That figure of the number of days that have passed since Zachary was last down in the lab totals out to over twenty-six years, meaning HERB has existed - as it is presented in this mission - since anywhere between 1994-1999. A computer system with this level of artificial intelligence, having existed since the 90s, while also describing itself as the world’s first biocomputer? Bullshit.
Related to that, since the Patient Zero campaign most likely takes place between Club 27 and Freedom Fighters, this means that Devereux, even when allowing for the maximum possible amount of time to have passed since the start of the Freelancer era, would only have been six years younger at the time Nabazov was killed. Yet she tells 47 that she was “much younger then.” Unless she’s in her early 20s, there’s no way she would have been “much younger” at that time. We can’t even consider the possibility that she’s referring to it metaphorically, that she didn’t see things the way her father did at the time, or that she hadn’t yet experienced the death of someone close to her at the time and that she’s “older” now as a result, because she was explicitly referring to 47 not recognizing her in regards to haunt been younger. She could not have experienced enough aging in that time for her to not b visually recognized, so either she’s not being clear with what this means.
