Elusive Target #38: THE HARBINGER - Patient Zero REQUIEM, ft Milla Jovovich (25 February - 24 March 2026)

Alrighty, did it now we wait… again

So in my two attempts to cure (or kill) all infected people during the Elusive Target Arcade version, Ether stopped executing infected people when there were still many infected remaining in the foyer. Ether staff would call for next person to be tested, but no one would move.

1st attempt: I killed Devereux, killed Gregory Carlisle, killed the co-conspirator (maid), inserted USB into Ether laptop (kitchen) so the grey hazmat suit Ether man went to top floor (Alexa’s hallway; I did not know that he would kill Devereux, had I left her alive because she would be “magically” summoned to meet him; instead, with literally nothing to do, he stays on that floor “forever” (the 20+ minutes when I last checked on him)) and cured several other infected without being detected, refilled on antidote then returned to foyer to discover that while Ether staff would call for the next person to be tested, no one would move. Ether staff would repeat the call, no one would move, etc. I waited ~10 minutes then gave up waiting for Ether’s executions.

2nd attempt: got Ether hazmat disguise, went straight to the small office (lawyer’s office in story mode), and waited until Devereux and co-conspirator finished dialogue, and former left. Killed co-conspirator, picked up USB, went direct to Ether laptop, inserted USB, followed (as instructed) the Ether man in grey hazmat suit to top floor, watched as they killed Devereux, got antidote doses, and cured Gregory Carlisle then began curing the infected people not waiting in the foyer (e.g., the woman in furs who drinks behind the Ether banner behind the stage, the Carlisle manservant who eventually jumps off Alexa’s balcony, the guest who goes to the ground floor lavatory next to the library). Eventually, I returned to the foyer, and found that the Ether staff again were no longer executing infected people because people were not moving when called.

I don’t know if it’s time (only X minutes of executions) or quantity of executions as I had at least 10 infected people standing in the lobby when the executions ceased, and had spent more than 20 minutes since 47 learned of Devereux’s plan. Perhaps it’s another reason.
I played in different sessions (game completed exited) and on two different days one day apart (not next day), and have no mods except the “Hitman” 2016 intro mod.
Also, I did not lose SA rating during these attempts (e.g., dead / unconscious bodies hidden, no suspicious actions noticed), so there were no security alarums to disrupt Ether’s procedures (of course, their quarantine remained on the guests / staff / residents).

Something to consider if you have several infected and thought Ether’s executions would eliminate the trickier infected people so you needn’t lure them away from the lobby to maintain Silent Assassin rating.

Best regards.

PS: edit for punctuation and adding that I did not lose SA at any time.

Funnily enough this results in 47 getting special treatment by getting escorted outside to the healthy visitors even if you’re infected. Same goes for the gardener, I think, which is also interesting as starting as one seems to be the only way to have that disguise on this ET.
But yeah… There’s a lot of weird stuff regarding trespassing areas and checkpoints going on in this mission in general

There is a second dictaphone by the bodies that I just found!

Also if you stick around for a while you get a lot of dialogue from Herb who is the first ever bio-computer. :pink_heart:

If you stand back at the 3rd laser bit, you get a prompt to play the cutscene and dodge them!

Just like the Patient Gown suit exclusive to The Reflection, there’s a gloveless version of The Urban Maverick exclusive to The Harbinger!

It seems like it’s meant to be the default suit for the mission, but it doesn’t seem to always work. I think it depends on whether or not the starting suit had been changed on the location before. On some of my alt accounts where I hadn’t played the main Dartmoor mission the starting loadout had The Urban Maverick as the suit. But on my accounts where I had reached Level 20 on Dartmoor it instead defaulted to the Classic Cut Long Coat Suit with Gloves since I had changed suits.

I think this is also why I never had the Patient Gown as the default suit on The Reflection, because on all my accounts I had swapped to the White Yukata so that’s what showed up instead.

Make every suit unlockable at some points “At some point” preferably meaning “some time within the next year,” please.

Bio-computer? Did he use to be a person before?

Imagine if, instead of these being separate outfits, we had toggles with which to put on and off gloves/glasses/hats during a mission.

Alright, I finally got time to try tackling this thing, and started with the Contagion in Arcade. Not too bad on a first try.

I really only messed up in that, first, I got the one NPC woman in the front hallway out of the way with a durian before I had obtained a banana for her to slip on, so for this first Arcade attempt I decided to forgo the HPP for the sake of experimentation, and just KOed her and hid the body. The biggest challenge here will be making sure I drop the durian in the right way so that she goes to one of the two upstairs bathrooms. If she goes for one of the downstairs ones, I’ll have to restart, because unlike the Ether soldier I’ll need to get a disguise from later, this lady’s body needs to stay hidden until Devereux is dead.

Then I went through the mission story, and by the time I got to the part where I would have an Ether soldier step on a rake so I could obtain his disguise, his partner spotted me and I had to kill him and hide both bodies. I know how to avoid this now too, so I should be able to get it in the ET proper.

Then once I had Ether execute Devereux, I got my regular suit back and walked out the front door without realizing it was now a restricted area (because, really, why would I think it would be?), and got busted. So I restarted the first round of the Arcade mission and just poisoned her drink to get through it.

Now I’m going to do the second round and try to get through it all the way in the way I want, and escape without going through the front. But I have a couple questions, and if the answer is yes to either of them, I’ll have to restart the mission a few times to find out, so before I waste my time, if anyone is willing or able to tell me: when Ether executes Devereux, if her body is then found, does it void SA? If not, does it void SA if you shoot her along with them, and then her body is found?

To be fair, I got her before the guards did and nobody found her body on the top floor. To be honest with you, a part from Devereux and Ether when they head up there, I don’t think nobody else goes on the top floor.

There’s a woman in the next room, Alexa’s office. I like it when bodies are found that don’t void SA, and I would like to call attention to the body, but I wanted to know ahead of time if it would count against it her since it’s a direct murder, especially if I shoot her with the others. Guess I’ll just have to test it.

Yes!

Serious question: Doesn’t that fact that your sacred method hinges on so much foresight bother you? Is 47 clairvoyant in your head canon?

Well, based on Diana’s comments in the training mission, 47’s “instinct” is really just him having heightened senses, and paying closer attention to them than most people do, similar to a blind person paying more attention to their other senses and picking up cues and details that sighted individuals usually do not. It creates a sort of extrasensory perception, similar to the Marvel character DareDevil. 47 is feeling the world around him better than others do, seeing, hearing, smelling who has been where and done what, to a degree, and using his keen mind and heightened intelligence to extrapolate and picture in his head who and what is likely to be where and when, and then picturing how things will likely pan out when he makes his move based on that information. So it’s not so much clairvoyance as it is heightened awareness and well-informed guesswork.

Ok, I tested it out, and I’m delighted to say, the answer is: no, Devereux’s body being found after being executed by Ether does not invalidate SA ranking, although not for the reasons I expected. It turns out, Devereux’s body is treated like Ken Morgan’s body when Jordan Cross pushes him out a window: nobody notices or does anything about the body, even if they walk right next to it.

You can trigger the confrontation with the Ether soldiers and Devereux, and even if you shoot with them - hell, you can be the first to shoot (the cue is when the leader says “take the shot!”, immediately waste her at that moment and your shot is the first to hit her), and even if you lure the lady in Alexa’s office out to the body, or even lure Devereux’s bodyguards waiting downstairs up to the body, they won’t do shit, as if they don’t even see the body. So anyone who takes this route, it won’t matter what happens after, Devereux’s corpse won’t ruin SA, so no need to hide it. I like this because, unless I’m forgetting something, it’s one of only two times in WoA where you can use a firearm with no suppressor to kill a target without fear of losing SA status; the other being the option to shoot Edwards at the end of Untouchable, but in this case, there’s actually two witnesses right next to you watching you shoot the target in addition to using an unsuppressed firearm, and still no status loss, so this one takes the crown.

The hardest thing to do after this point is getting out, and whether you decide to steal Ether’s helicopter or work your way back to your motorcycle, be prepared for a lot of crouch hiding and moving through bushes. Either way, I’ve now got this down, and the next opportunity I get, I’ll take on the ET proper and finish it exactly the way I was hoping to.
