It might be beneficial to consider not treating your players like they’re dumb by labelling the maintenance as an “emergency” when it is conveniently scheduled to end the moment your Showcase starts and we already know about the Drops (so maintenance/a patch was always coming to support them). Its not hard to work out that the “emergency” is just a farce.

I’d really love to give the benefit of the doubt here - your suspicion does sound entirely plausible.
Though, if that is true, why wouldn’t @Combatglue say that it’s some routine maintenance to prepare for the showcase? Was it considered worse to say it’s something that was planned because it could have been announced earlier?
Or is it genuinely emergency maintenance? We’ll probably never know. But, if this really is emergency status, I would suggest that in future, especially when your timing is this suspicious, elaborate a little. If it isn’t, better to just bite the bullet.

Who seriously cares? “Emergency” “Unplanned” whatever. They’re doing it and didn’t give a prior heads-up. JFC. The poor guy has to walk on eggshells with literally anything he says. Does he also require your permission to breathe?

Do remember that IOI isn’t offering us charity. They’re providing the service that we gamers paid for.
Keep being honest and transparent is imperative if they wish that the community to stick to them, from which they’ll gain a lot.
Surely they can make up some lame ass excuse and don’t give an actual fxxk. This will slowly yet inreversibly damage their reputation and trustworthiness, which has been going downhill ever since H3.
Keep in mind that you don’t care doesn’t mean that others don’t.
There’s quite a huge difference phrasing the post as it was and saying something like “The servers are going into maintenance, as its required so that you can get your Drops during our Showcase. See you there!”.
Using the word emergency sends the mind in the direction of something has gone catastrophically wrong unexpectedly and needs urgent attention. A pre-planned patch/maintenance with game content does not constitute an emergency.
Someone in the Community Manager role needs to be providing clear and honest communication to build up trust within the community. Otherwise, and unfortunately it seems to be a repeating pattern, we build up distrust instead. Especially when the deception is transparent as a window like today’s example.

Nevermind in my excitement I got today’s not-super-late “emergency maintenance” mixed up with the later showcase time.
I understand the position Samir is in here. “Emergency maintenance” is phrasing that came down from on high. This being a surprise drop, there’s only so many ways one can diplomatically and efficiently communicate this. I didn’t originally approve of the verbiage but now I get it, and I give @Combatglue no shit for having to phrase it thus.

It’s now out on PlayStation as well not sure if it’s different between the PS4 and 5 but for me it’s 4.022 GB

Is the maintenance still going on? The game keeps pausing it’s update after every 0.1% of progress it seems.
