Epic Games Exclusivity and how it will affect the release of Hitman 3

I agree with this exactly. I don’t care about most of the “features” that Steam has. It’s nothing more than a storefront for me. I don’t care where I buy the game from - it has no bearing on actually playing it.

I think they were meant to evoke a comic book, but obviously look like really bad stills.

The earliest cutscenes are the best ones, they start to get noticeably less stylised later on.

Maybe its too early to hear about this, but I still want to know if we can import our progress from H2 multiple times, for Epic and Steam.

I figure if they have an internal progress transfer working between Steam and Epic, they have a decent idea what use-cases it can handle.

I suppose it might depend on whether it’s all linked together on the IOI account. I assume that’s how they’re doing it.

Honestly, now that I think of it, I don’t give a crap about where I buy the game from, as long as I can play it without interruptions. You’re only gonna see the launcher while buying, downloading and uninstalling anyways.

The only true problem with Epic I had personally was the lack of payment methods, since I always use a prepaid wallet on Steam, but that wasn’t a big deal at all.

I don’t mind having games on different platforms, as I use GOG Galaxy to open them anyways.

I just realised… The progress from Steam versions of H16-H2 will be carried out to EGS Hitman 3. But it doesn’t seem H3 would have H16-H2 content (levels and all) by default. This means you would have to get H16-H2 on EGS? Right?

Upd: yep, found the answer in FAQ thread. Oh well…

I doubt they’re going to charge people on EGS for the Legacy Pack if they own them on Steam and not EGS. That would just cause people to riot.

I didn’t read the whole GameInformer article, but I read the summary of it, where it’s been said that HITMAN 3 will contain all 20+ locations “from the box”.
That means once you downloaded the game, you’ll have everything installed. All base locations, all bonus locations, all DLCs, all additional campaigns (Patient Zero, Special Assignments) etc with no need of redeeming something, with no Legacy Pack and so on.
You just click Download once, and get everything at once.
The whole game will weight only 100GB.

If all this true, this is good, as how I see it. Because HITMAN 2 system was too complicated.
But since we had no info or confirmation from IOI directly, doubts still might take place.
We’ll know everything on 20th of January or if IOI throws out all the info they promised

Looks like IOI wants to make this as simple as possible, because of how complicated and confusing the H1 & H2 pages are on Steam.

Where does it say that? Because everything I’ve seen indicates that the base Hitman III game only has the 6 new levels and implies that there will be some kind of Legacy pack, just like last time.

We’ll see, I never said it was a completely true.
I just saying what I’ve read. And that’s why I prefer official confirmation rather than some journalist have misheard sonething and takes it as true. Or a different journalist misunderstood something and brings it as a fact

I hope this (or next) week IOI say something regarding progress and locations once and for all.

There have been several articles and interviews with Hitman developers where it’s been stated outright that if you already own H1 and H2 (or H2 and the legacy pack), you’ll have all of the levels in those games activated. This article on Screenrant, which links to another site that a supposed developer commented on, says that the entire trilogy, all levels, everything, will consume less than 100GB. Hitman 3 Packs Entire Reboot Trilogy Into Less Than 100 GB Of Storage.

Yes, we all know that there is going to be a Legacy Pack. What killer seems to be saying (and maybe something is getting lost in translation) is that Hitman 3 will contain the first two games without an add-on and be accessible whether you own the first two games or not.

What I read in his statements (and he’s welcome to confirm or correct this) is that the installation of Hitman 3 will include those earlier locations but they will be locked out unless you own the other games. The installation files themselves though will contain those locations even if you can’t play them due to not having the first two games. No separate download, just the one.

That, admittedly, seems more likely, but I still don’t think I’ve seen anybody say that all three games are downloaded at once in one big file, just that the total file size is ~100gb. :man_shrugging:

Neither have I. The Epic Games Store page for H3 says that the games needs 80GB of storage, which doesn’t really tell me anything. I guess we’ll find out in 16 days.

So Epic is somehow forcing IOI for exclusivity deal? If it is profitable for IOI why does it matter? IOI is not doing anything illegal. If Epic is doing something unethical, does not mean IOI should scrap the deal.
All businesses are unethical, some apparent some not so apparent.

In other words, you need a license of the game activated (on your account), maybe.

If that is what you have to say about this you might not reply at all because it adds nothing.
