Epic Games Exclusivity and how it will affect the release of Hitman 3

Yes, that is most likely how that will work. We were wondering though if the Hitman 1 and 2 content was downloaded (but locked away) as part of the base game install or if it was only downloaded once the game confirms that you have a license to that content.

Wait, really? that’s quite impressive considering what the game has. Looks like they did some cleaning up.

Actually IO’s latest financial report makes it sound like they went looking for deals as they credit their ability to open Malmo and get Project 007 solely to sustained sales of previously released games and making deals with companies (EGS exclusivity for H3, PSVR exclusivity to PS4 etc).

Malmo and P007 were obviously things they wanted to achieve, so it makes more sense that they went looking rather than having these dreams and it just falling into their lap.

So if IO did go looking, can’t really blame Epic…

I tried borderlands 3 and a few of the free games without epic running and it worked must be bc gta idk

I mean I just hate epic bc launcher trash and to update hitman I’ll have to run it anyways.

Does anyone know when H3 will be available for pre-install yet on Epic? Or if?

well the feature exists, but they havent said anything about it

We’re getting close enough to release that I’m starting to actually load the Epic Games client from time to time to see (and am continually disappointed).

I’d think maybe 3 days in advance might be common, but 2 weeks? Seems pretty optimistic, or unrealistic

Well I am very impatient and demand instant gratification at all times!

I know you’re being sarcastic, but there are people online that unironically act like this.

LOL! I know, my kid is one of them. Now! Now! Now!

PC

I fully disagree with it. IO had their reasons, though.

No.

I don’t think so, Epic already paid for the copies.

I was excited until I learned about the EGS exclusivity. Since then I’m not as invested as I was in HITMAN/HITMAN 2 hype cycle. I just learned today Berlin is a location. I’m waiting for 2022.

I don’t care

That’s a hard “meh” if i’ve ever seen one.

I mostly don’t mind much but for people on PC do not want to miss elusive targets but hate Epic that would be quite a dilemma. They may have to wait for the reactivation (if there will be any).

that would be quite a dilemma.

Play it via GOG galaxy?

If I’m not mistaken, if you play a non GOG game through Galaxy, it will launch the client from where the game is from so you’ll still need Epic to be installed and to be running when playing Hitman 3. Plus, this doesn’t solve the problem with having all Hitman games on a client (have them on both GOG and Steam) but now I need to use a different client for the last game in a trilogy…

At the very least you can play with the Legendary launcher instead of Epics.
It’s hosted on GitHub so you can see exactly how it runs.
I refuse to install Epic’s launcher but I’m still on the fence for giving them money. ESPECIALLY considering the deluxe edition is 10 USD more than it is on consoles…

Still worried about one thing. Will H2 levels be available on EGS H3, if we transfer the progression from Steam?

yes…

:joy: I didn’t make myself clear.

My question is, basically: is it necessary to purchase H2/some kind of “Legacy Pack” on EGS to play H2 levels in H3? Or, will the data transfer “unlock” this content in H3, cos you already have it on Steam
