So, we know that currently there’s no starting under cover (for instance starting as a waitor in the kitchen) for Freelancer.
My idea for introducing this into Freelancer is simple: Starting under cover requires you to have brought that particular disguise off the map (wearing it). Once you do you now have the option of starting under cover with the disguise (assuming such a starting point exists).
As an addition to your player home there would also be a “hall of disguises” where you can see all of the disguises you’ve brough off the map (which is in line with your wall of guns and so on).
Interesting idea. This would really add to the whole planning and preparation aspect of Freelancer that is so integral to Hitman!
I could see this being seen as OP for some missions and disguises (guard disguises especially) but idk.
Maybe there could be a way to balance that out, like you can only have one or two disguises stored from each level, or around ten disguises total from all of the levels? All disguises are lost whenever you fail a mission? Wouldn’t really want a situation where after one or two campaigns you would be strapped with disguises for all missions, effectively making you forget about the suit which is nerfed enough by being enforcable on Alerted/Hardcore territories.
Another problem is that it would be a bit unintuitive and unfair in how only a few disguises are available as undercover starts. And making undercover starts for other disguises would take a lot of resources.
For fun, here’s how many undercover starting spots each level has:
This would be nice to have… But one would always want to keep in mind of possible conflicting objectives… Well, one in particular I suppose. ‘Suit Only’.
This is a whole other topic but in such cases the game should show a warning so the player can proceed anyway, or review and change whatever until it goes away.
it would be cool to use those Merces for things like Under Cover disguises, increased gear slots, or even an agency stash on the map (so you can have two large items) …
It’d be nice to be able to purchase starting locations before your flight, so you go into the computer, choose a starting location and let’s say it’s 2500 for a specific suit start and 5000 for a specific disguise start. i’d like that. i’d really want more things to spend on
