I would hope not, there’s a challenge for killing assassins, and it’s also just my playstyle so I’d rather not get penalised for that.
The only change I didn’t like/appreciate but I understand why it was changed - I love the absolutely party and was so ready to cram 12 people into the smallest map I could find - would have been convient too, I’ve got something (that I think is) cool planned and to have a bunch of the suspect designs right in front of me is helpful. I hope the finale has 10 instead
(I posted a reply to this already but just ignore the earlier one) I feel like it would be better off if there were a “No Civilian Casualties” objective when doing a campaign mission if it’s gonna be the case since it would sound more fitting in my opinion
Well, I like and support most of these changes. Some of them I suggested as feedback to the CTT (among with many others I’m sure).
Will have to wait and see how big of a punishment non-target kills will be (and if the punishment persists even if you have “collateral kill” objectives and whatnot), but if done correctly I think it could be good while still keeping the greater sense of freedom from the rules that Freelancer had.
Really looking forward to this. I hope it doesn’t consume my life.
Atm I see a raid being implemented for levels rather than the safe house. Some kind of trigger or trap that fills the area with enforcers.
It would work perfectly on maps like the Bank. if you are in the vault, exits are blocked and you can only escape via the main entrance. Getting Hitman Contracts vibes
No idea how it would work on larger maps such as mumbai. Maybe only triggers in Rangan’s Tower or somethin.
For rival assassin’s I see them hunting you rather than the target. I can picture a use for those trip mines in the berlin tower being used against us. Alert a roof sniper then suddenly you have to be more thoughtful about open areas
It sounds like they got after most of the testers complaints! I can’t wait to get in and try it. I’m super curious what a Merces is worth now too since they said they decided to devalue them to make it feel more realistic. I sorta even want to make a merces to in level coin comparison
The issue with that idea is that it’ll be ignored too easily, and it won’t be on every mission simply due to IOI’s RNG system. Doing a flat penalty is just more consistent across the board, as it applies to every level.
Yeah, someone in the official discord suggested a reward for no civilian casualties at the end of a mission instead of a penalty. I think this would just encourage you to throw away that reward in favor of the optional objectives which would more than likely reward more.
I much prefer the “cleaner fee” that they chose.
.
Because it will allow for actual flexibility in the playstyle. And not an all or nothing.
Then again it will depend on the actual cost. If its less than an objective. Then it could actually be part of the moment to moment decision.
Cumulative, it will discourage the worst of the worst “nobody can testify if everyone is dead”, but still allow the “well my target is part of a patrol of two, and even with the penality of his colleague I will make a profit with the “explosive elimination”, it will be fun”.
Sometimes the player can have a little non-target kill, as a treat.
I’m going to guess… or bet that the fee will be -50 per non-target/civilian NPC killed.
However… Since some of the “Prestigious Objectives” seem(ed) to involve offing a guard in some way - hopefully there won’t be a deduction for that, or any you’d have to kill to get out of a situation.
I mean, really. There’s absolutely no reason to intentionally kill non-target NPCs. If you’re compromised… Try to KO them (if not in front of others), or just find a different disguise. Collateral damage might be unavoidable sometimes. So that’s fair.
