That….

Damn…

That… yeah. That would’ve worked.

I’m kind of not looking forward to this patch because they’ll remove the glitch that lets you shoot in the safe house.

I enjoy running round the house, shooting open doors…

And as a recovering alcoholic, is quite satisfying to shoot that glass of wine off the table so it’s not an option.

Please IO, let me continue to shoot in the safe house. (I know they won’t.)

I have the payout objective to sedate a target in a Showdown.

Two questions:

  • Does the found body of the sedated target void SA, as per usual with target bodies?
  • Is the leader alerted and does he flee after being woken up?

I’d like to know what I’m up against before going in.

Towards the second question the leader will flee, once woken up. However happened on alerted Showdown.

He doesn’t if kalmered/banana’d, as long as no lookout saw the body

Interesting mine was kalmered no look out saw him, guard woke him up.

ive done several kill all suspects in an unique way on both alerted and non-alerted territories, they dont panic and flee

Kalmer’d targets don’t void SA (unlike other sedatives) in the main game, im assuming it’s the same in freelancer, but not sure

I love answering polls like this, thanks!

I’m going to be completely ignoring safes as soon as I get that cat burglar challenge as merces are very much pointless to collect now for me. When I first started playing though, I did do the safes and couriers as much as I could have. My game plan was buying all the weapons as soon as I could and then working on getting my best/favourite weapons and tools to use when the mode first launched. Been on quite a journey since then!

As for Hardcore, I played it early on and I still wouldn’t recommend playing it unless you have a substantial arsenal and map knowledge of most maps. As previously discussed in the hardcore-related threads on here, I don’t like that our Freelancer tools get wiped completely simply for wanting to switch gamemodes. There’s also a good few bugs that still exist in Freelancer so I hope the interest in the mode will increase as these bugs get stamped out!

I do appreciate a good challenge however, so I’m looking forward to seeing if the next patch can improve this difficulty setting upon the player feedback. In which case, I’ll change my vote

I’ve completed about 35(ish) campaigns, completed a hardcore campaign, and effectively all of the challenges except for the 4 numerical ones (employee of the year, GOAT, slow and steady, top dog). I’ve got around 3 million merces saved up, a completed weapon wall and tool box, and I’m also just one level away from level 100 safehouse mastery so XP will soon become irrelevant and money has become generally not a problem.

I haven’t failed a campaign in a while and when I do fail a normal mission, i’m usually just restocking my tranq guns, lockpick, and silverballer (that I use on every mission). Maybe occasionally I also have to buy back an SMG or melee weapon I brought in with me for an additional objective, but other than that I can usually get everything back in 1-2 missions.

Hardcore I mainly just did for the challenges, the fact that turning the mode on and off takes away your tools has made me just kind of ignore it after I was done with it. Prestige objectives being so few and (currently) as buggy as they are doesn’t help either. There were times where I failed hardcore campaigns for literally no reason because the timed objective just failed to register as completed when I left a completed level, THAT was annoying and made me alt-F4 a few times when it happened.

When it comes to safes or couriers, I’ll only go after them if I’m conveniently right by them / my targets are right next to them, so its more of a “why not?” for the little bit of XP currently (after that though I doubt i’ll ever really touch them again). Same thing with objectives and the perfect run bonus, once I actually hit level 100, I’m full on just going to ignore them for the completion of the 4 big challenges. It also depends on what syndicate I chose (I mainly just choose for locations and Mendoza as the showdown, so type doesnt really matter to me). Blinding objectives are annoying to do, and currently VERY finnicky (sometimes I’ll blow up a flash device next to a target and several civilians/guards and NONE of them will get stunned, its actually ridiculous how much it just doesnt work)

Safes are really more of a “depends on whats around you” / map knowledge question. If theres a fire extinguisher or propane tank nearby, I’m blowing it open. However sometimes its in a spot where I just do the clues instead.

Couriers I just kill if I’m near them, sometimes I’ll even just shoot them in full view of everybody, I have enough map knowledge where I can get away and/or find choke points pretty easily.

I’m effectively done with the whole mode for now though, once the next content update drops I’ll be back though to complete the new content and make solid progress on the big 4 challenges though.

My only problem with Hardcore mode remains the forced Prestige objective. Outside that, if the game wants to take away all because of my mistakes, it’s fine by me. But don’t make me dependant of something that causes a lot of RNG or simply isn’t fun to do with such high stakes.

Not so much terrified, as just knowing I can’t do the required prestige challenges all the time. I will never do a “time” challenge, so they could have left that out completely. Not how I play ever.

Today’s annoying Freelancer fact:

The “The Coast is Clear” challenge and the “Neutralize Lookout” objective aren’t made to measure the same things.
“The Coast is Clear” requires that a lookout is killed, while “Neutralize Lookout” works if the lookout is killed, but also if you simply knock them out and stash them in a container.

Also, I just died from electrocution for the first time, not only in Freelancer, but in the game.

I opened the taps of a sink, dragged the target body into the water puddle, threw a car battery at the target… and then nothing happened… for at least 10 seconds.
Then a nearby guard heard the pouring water, so I decided I’d snap the target’s neck instead. As I approached Diana suddenly exclaimed “Good job 47!” (implyin that the target just died of electrocution) as I fell dead to floor.

Is there really this much lag in electroction in Hitman? Usually a second passes after I throw the battery and then the electrocution happens.

inspired by frote’s collateral kills, i lured all suspects to the catwalk, and killed them all with the light rig, but the POS radeon software didn’t record anything. fml

Does opening a locked door from the inside count as opening locked doors?
Some locked doors can be opened without keys or lockpicks depending on the side you approach them from.

No it does not, so no worries

Can confirm Frote is correct. You can actually cheese some doors by getting an NPC to come near it or walk through it, which will open it for you and doesn’t count as unlocking it. You’re allowed to unlock the security doors and vents in the Chongqing ICA Facility without penalty too.

Just a word of warning though, if you’re ever playing on Isle of Sgail, opening the secret doors (the ones with the buttons) for some reason DOES count as ‘unlocking’ a door. Learned that one the hard way.
