Freelancer - General Discussion

This also happens on walking exits like the main gate at Miami, the small bridge at Dartmoor and the sewer exits in Whittleton Creek.

Another hint is to do the timed action once more between killing your last target and exiting the mission.
So to make sure to hide in a box on your way to the exit even if you still have plenty of time, or to get an additional disguise or do a KO.

I’m like, 99% sure I’ve been caught trespassing and it counted as a witness, 90% on the bodies found. It’s definitely not just a guess, but I’m not infallible and it’s not impossible I’m misremembering.

I’m gonna test this out later tonight.

I had a Timed Takedown one in WC, escaped via the sewer almost front of the empty house and went normally. Mission Completed succesfully.

I finally finished all of the “Eliminate 50 members or leaders on X map” challenges. Funnily enough, Colorado was done the fastest cause I wanted to get it out of the way while Whittleton Creek took me the longest because I mostly used it for Showdowns.

I’ve done a bit of testing: finding bodies and seeing people die but not the killer don’t seem to count, I misremembered that. Trespassing and “Suspicious but not compromised” (e.g. getting seen by an enforcer, then getting away from them) do count as a witness.

Basically it seems like they need to have seen you, but they don’t need to suspect you to the point of shooting you on sight.

But what if it’s a civilian?

As a map, I don’t mind Colorado. However, in Freelancer I know what you mean. Now that I’m done with it, I avoid going there.

Having now finally hit level 100 in freelancer I can breathe a sigh of relief that I never have to touch that game mode again (barring any new challenges that provide new unlocks). This is just my opinion but it just didn’t feel like Hitman to me.

As someone who has played these games since 2002, Hitman to me is all about trial and error. You get given your targets, you go in, observe, look for opportunities, make a plan, and try and execute it. Generally things go wrong, but you restart, try again and again until you have that perfect hit and when that happens it feels great.

That to me is Hitman. The only reason I went for level 100 is because I have every unlock in the trilogy and wanted a full account of unlocks. The one thing I won’t be doing is unlocking all the challenges. I have every challenge unlocked in the base game but those freelancer challenges are just a chore.

For now I will only be returning to Hitman for stuff on the roadmaps like Elusive Targets, Featured Contracts, and new Challenges.

Civilians don’t turn orange with “no witnesses” if they catch you trespassing. This is problematic if you don’t track these npcs. You’ll never know who is a witness.

In that case, replace “shooting you on sight” with “calling a guard to shoot you on sight” :)

Nobody does. They only turn orange if you escalate the situation by fighting them or resisting the escort. Like I said, they don’t need to suspect you to the point of “this bald man needs to die”, they just need to know you committed a crime.

Orange marks compromised, i.e. “this guy killed someone/assaulted someone/has a gun etc. and needs to be stopped”. ‘Witnesses’ can also be “This guy wandered into a restricted area, but he was cooperative and I won’t suspect he’s a murderer until we find dead bodies after he’s gone, or realize that four people died in “accidents” within an hour of each other.”

I agree that a similar way to identify witnesses would be good, but right now they’re not supposed to turn orange, since that’s an indicator of something different. (and more dangerous!) I’m pretty sure they can highlight NPCs in other colors, like Diana & The Constant are blue. Maybe a greenish yellow?

I’m always tickled with amusement at how many people just write off freakish “accidents” in this game. “Oh. Two people in a bedroom with a propane tank? How unfortunate. Could’ve happened to any of us!”

Weirder accidents have happened in real life, so it’s not such a stretch.

When a bald guy runs across the street with lots of ppl around and he drops a propane tank and breaching charge then see him click a trigger, ya, weirder stuff has happened irl.

Actually, yes. But, you know, I would make the bald guy run up to the person, and while the dropping of the propane tank might be necessary, I certainly wouldn’t use an explosive to set it off. Think actual accidents, people. I posted a how-to guide for a reason.

Or you can just whip out the old pistol and get the job done.

pfft… propane…

Also Heisenberg, sees people talking earlier about avoiding Colorado when they’re done completing challenges in it because it’s too hard, starts new contract, begins in Colorado because it generates by far the easiest challenges:
