Freelancer - General Discussion

The Freelancer Silent Assassin Prestige Objective behaves like the old Silent Assassin in 2016, where being spotted at all ruined SA (this was, of course, changed early on).

I can record a video of this, if you like, but many people have complained about this as well.

Specifically, as far as Merces are concerned, it only changed Prestige Objectives. I think they increase by 500M per prestige level.

Base mission experience is also increased, though I never bothered to note by how much :weary:

Same here! They might be allowing us to keep them for their usefulness (or they are needed for the undiscovered Safehouse Secret that grants the ICA coin (I’m mostly joking, but maybe… :eyes: ))

This can’t possibly be true, because I’m only getting 350M base right now and I’m on Prestige Level 1.

I’m pretty sure SA and being spotted is fine. I almost always choose SA or SA/SO when it’s available and kinda remember being spotted by target still retains SA in freelancer.

I’ll have to test again. You got me confused and intrigued to check. lol

Yo another Big A fan! I was made up then he finally completed a hardcore run. The streams are perfect background noise while playing freelancer

Yeah… when I go into a room. Throw a fire extinguisher at a guy. Then start choking my target to the the ground…Then 3 waiters I didnt even know were in there. Start saying…omg what are you doing etc etc etc. First instinct is to pull out gun and head shot all of them, and then the unconscious target. Runnnnnn - I know where I have seen that before

So, I just ran a Silent Assassin Objective in standard Freelancer, and it worked just fine (specifically: I pulled a gun on my target, aimed it at their head, and after they reacted I shot them, still retaining SA as normal)!

So it’s definitely a Hardcore thing. I’m not too eager to reset my progress again again, but I’ll revisit hardcore ā€œsoonā€ and try to get a video.

I can confirm that, as far as I am aware, nobody saw me or the body. Cameras were disabled, target was alone, doors were closed, nobody freaked out, there was no ā€œhunted,ā€ ā€œengagingā€ or ā€œcombat,ā€ disguise was not compromised, etc.

It was performed here and the body was then dumped.

Both hardcore and standard and the main game all work the same for SA. Thanks for testing.

Just figured out another Prestige system ā€œhackā€ while performing my second reset - if you don’t take an item out of the Freelancer Tools reward crate, it will still be in there after the reset. So if there is an item you’d like to ā€œsaveā€ (and you have all Freelancer Tools already) make sure you leave it behind in the location you play before resetting - as it will guaranteed to be in the crate as your reward.

Reset, pick up the ā€œsavedā€ item and continue on!

I guess this also works with the other reward crate which will contain Merces once you have all items and you’ve finished a Showdown too (didn’t test this though)…

You can also now shoot cameras & recorders without failing perfect shooter.

I know that but I think that’s a stupid addition that makes perfect shooter a little moot. The purpose or at least the challenge behind it was to force the player to not shoot cameras and recorders, but to use bombs, emt (or any other item that works) or disable the recorder by hand.
Now PS waters down the challenge.

I like when they change things to make things better, but not when it makes things easier.

It’s not even a change that makes it easier. It’s mostly a change that benefits people who never read the objective’s description and went surprisedpikachu.png when shooting a camera would fail the objective.

Well let’s say that now it’s useless since we can destroy the cameras with objects Might as well put that back.

Well, there’s forgetting the objective, then there’s NEEDING to destroy a camera or a recorder - especially if will make or break a SA rating. And how feasible or practical is it to find an explosive or get lucky and get an EMP to take care of a recorder?

So there’s Perfect Shooter, and
No Firearms.

Either one will screw you over if you can’t destroy a recording or camera by shooting it. So the best bet is to tweak the ā€˜Perfect Shooter’ objective since you can still use a firearm.

And if that still gets your knickers in a twist… then make shooting whatever or not a personal decision and elect to not do it. Good luck (tho).

Nevermind, I stand corrected. Started a new campaign this morning. First mission awards only 250M base!

I’m led to believe the weapon DLC items aren’t part of the equation, unless something can correct me if I’m wrong? :slightly_smiling_face:

Wow, so 10 prestige levels now? And only the first five levels give you a (small) boost?

Yup, another challenge I’ll probably never complete.

I always thought the purpose was to prevent bullet distractions and those weird glitches when you shoot a wall three times or some other nonsense.

I considered not being able to shoot a camera as a side-effect.

What’s the boost? I don’t filmt understand the mechanic but I did lose all my wrap ons and got a trophy to show for it.
