Freelancer - General Discussion

God bless their decision to do the CTT. Otherwise Freelancer would have launched with that and might have ended up sticking around.

Anyone noticing higher payouts?

I’m not sure if this is prestige related but I’m on
Level 2 Prestige.

Hide and seek which usually pays 3500, is now paying 3950

Everything is about 400 higher

When you prestige, it raises the payout amounts up until prestige level 5, if I’m not mistaken.

I wish they had done the same thing with the 500 leaders and 100 campaigns challenges

The worst! They had done it about the ā€œEmployee of the Yearā€. They downed it from 1,000 (CTT) to 500 (Final release)!

They divided by four the GOAT challenge. Why did they only halve this challenge?

Yeah, for me Top Dog and Prestige are waaay too much. I know they’re supposed to last for the rest of the game’s lifespan but it’s overkill imo. Prestige x10 is especially brutal.

Personally I would’ve had Prestige be a one time only thing like hardcore and 47 campaigns for Top Dog.

That’s a pretty cool idea to be fair

WOW! I didn’t know they were that high in the CTT :open_mouth:

Thank god this was reduced for the launch version of Freelancer!

I have 5 more weapons to get before being able to Prestige to level 10…however the suppliers are not offering anything to buy… and some of the post-Syndicate reward crates just have Melrces … what’s the deal?

Don’t remember if there were particular rules or things to keep in mind regarding the vendor but for the crates the reward is tied to the syndicate number within the campaign. If for instance you’re playing on normal and the weapons you are missing are all Legendary, then you need to finish the fourth syndicate to receive one.

Which weapons are those?

Small weapons (handguns being the biggest offenders) have a lower probability to appear in vendor inventories than large weapons and sometimes that probability will be zero even though the vendors could technically have space for them. Comparatively snipers will always appear in their dedicated space, and as most of them are useless once you get a decent Sieger it’s better to never buy any new snipers until you’ve bought pretty much everything else, while you should always try to buy handguns if you can.

Regarding crates, the Ancestral / Ornamental weapons will never appear in them, your only option to get them will be to buy them. So you’ll only get merces as rewards if they’re all you’re missing in a specific rarity tier (aside from the bugged HWK21 Pale that never appears in crates).

So I suppose most of what you’re missing are small Ancestral or Ornamental weapons?

Therein lies the problem … the Supplier doesn’t have anything for sale at all sometimes … later on, he had one or two, but I feel like he should have had all five for me to purchase … I ended up getting a couple after showdowns, and I got the rest from a supplier … but it still took over half a campaign to get them all … so, I’ve finally gotten to Prestige Level 10, but seems like it took way longer than it should have … now, 14 more campaigns to get that last challenge : Top Dog

Respect brother!! :clap:t2:

You know what, I’ve only Prestige once and I’ve left it since then. For now, I enjoy playing Freelancer with all my inventory and I can’t be arsed for the constant chasing of all the weapons etc :joy:

Once content fully wraps up on Hitman WOA and we have the long wait until the next game, it might be something I do again to fill in the time

i didn’t want to do it, but I did enjoy it… I was just wanting to clear those five prestige challenges… in the process, I cleared some other difficult ones like Employee of the Year and GOAT… that top dog is within reach, but 13 campaigns plus the last two syndicates remain to be done… and that’s 245 more missions… I’m tempted to exit some missions without completing the mission, but I think I can only do it once per syndicate and then have to do alerted territories for the rest…

I’ll more than likely end up doing it eventually, but like I say, I’ll probably start working on that once content wraps on the game. I’ll need some time to fill in until the next Hitman game :joy:

So I had a really challenging playthrough of New York last night. I’m doing two campaigns, consisting of one contract for each syndicate type, and I’m now on the last one, a Big Pharma contract. I’m doing it by following the HPP at last, and it’s been tough, especially with my restrictions on disguises without gloves, which leaves New York particularly challenging since there are no gloved outfits on the map.

The part that became a challenge was the central office hub in the lobby. One of the targets, a security guard, was in it, but fortunately that was easy enough to take care of with a remote emetic device and a briefcase while standing right next to the open sliding doors while his back was turned.

The tricky part was that the safe was inside this spot too, and if I was gonna complete this with the HPP, I needed to figure out how to get to it without a disguise. I couldn’t just ignore it, because when in New York, I always take every Mercer I can get - helps with the story that 47 is taking the money from the syndicates to further decimate them - and while I might let a courier go if there’s just no way to get to them, a safe is out of the question.

Right away, solving the clues was out, so I had to put a micro explosive in a briefcase and throw it into the room near the safe and set it off. Once everything calmed down, I then had to wait for the workers to go about their routines until most of their backs were turned, then crouch and sneak in and over to the safe. Very risking and I was almost spotted, but fortunately, the explosion also knocked out the nearby glass wall panels, so it was faster to get out of the restricted zone that way than making my way back to the sliding doors. Nailed it, barely, and it took me days to plan and time it right, but I got it, and all other available money on the map too. The targets were the easiest part.

For some reason, I always have difficulties with New York as well. Bangkok and Colorado are another two that cause me problems in Freelancer :joy:

New York is my go-to mission… so easy… bring a chloroform… if you start in the garage, just poison the ventilation… grab a high security disguise and keycard… kill the targets…

otherwise, make your way to the it room… grab the janitor key… trip the distraction for the guard to investigate… pacify him…grab his disguise and keycard… go back and poison the ventilation… kill targets

All fine and dandy, when you can take disguises willy-nilly. My playstyle to achieve Hitman perfection forbids me from using disguises that lack full-fingered gloves. New York has no gloved disguises, putting it on the same annoying level as Berlin and Mendoza.

Forgot about that. I’ll amend the statement: no gloved disguises that are helpful getting in anywhere that you have to stay out of sight anyway, meaning you might as well go suit only.
