As an aside, I have found that if you’re playing Hardcore and Prestige after the final campaign showdown, it’s usually beneficial to open the crate afterwards since you have a pretty high chance of being given a >30K weapon.
On another note, I’ve noticed that when the game decides to award you a weapon in an in-level crate, it’s quite common that it’s rolled more than one. I completed a New York map and came out of it with 3 Rare pistols from opening up crates.
This reminds me that I think they should have more randomness in these crates as opposed to the same three items in the same order. really let us get creative
i also feel similarly to expanding the amount of tools we can take back. for example in Colombia there’s flash grenades we cant take back because theyre not Mk IIIs
Speaking of in-game weapon loot crates, who is in favour of new weapons being added to the crates? Would be nice to see some new stuff added to them in a future patch instead of getting the same old stuff like a wrench, hammer, toy robot or a bannana!
I’ve watched recently the “how to play” video. When it was mentionning the planification of mission inside the safehouse, the video has talked about “weapons, tools, and disguises”.
Was it planned at certain time to choose the starting disguise before a mission, or the word “disguise” here means actually 47’s suit?
I think that might have been planned at some point. Because I remember before the Closed Technical Test, there was talk about how you had to take your suit with you when you left the level or you would lose it. But of course that turned out to not be a thing at all, but maybe that was something they wanted to implement.
How the hell would that even work? Suppose you fail to take your suit with you and lose it, and you keep doing that with every suit you’ve unlocked in the game until they’re all gone? What, they gonna give us a boxers-only outfit for 47? Or, more likely, the signature suit would be the base outfit that would not go away even if you left it behind, which would then defeat the purpose of the whole idea because people could just use that one over and over so they wouldn’t have to worry about it. Glad they dropped that one, that would have been a stupid arrangement.
I presume, that yes if you left your suit behind it would be gone but perhaps like with weapons and tools that you might forget, the supplier would have them and you could repurchase it later.
I know, when I played the CCT and died the fist time I thought for sure i had lost the suit I was wearing. But of course luckily that was not the case.
Right, but what happens if you leave all your suits behind, don’t reclaim them, and you’re down to only one left, and then leave that behind? There’s have to be some kind of failsafe mechanism to avoid all suits being left behind, which would actually negate the purpose of letting that be a thing at all.
You’d just have to make it so the default “I abandoned all of my other outfits” suit was something no one would ever want to wear - like a jester outfit or something.
Or there would be a price in merces to recover the suit you left behing, if you didn’t had enough merces with you then you’d lose the campaign be left at 0 merces like when you kill too many nontarget/suspects.
That failsafe is probably 47’s signature suit that’s always in the infirmary. Since it’s always there you would always have one suit you could wear that could never be lost.
Edit: Thinking about it, another failsafe could also be the bandages outfit. At least if you die in the level you always wind up in that outfit back at the safehouse. So technically you couldn’t permanently lose that outfit either. You’d just have to die to get it back.
This suit mechanic sounds like it would have had some legs if you could leave a level dressed as say, a waiter, take that home and then re-use it when visiting a level.
Not being able to use regular outfits because you left them in the level doesn’t add any interesting game mechanics - I suppose with the exception of the Requiem & Midnight Black suits which are useful in Mendoza.
Perhaps of more interest is the fact that Suspect phones were a take-home Freelancer Tool at one point. Though it would have made subsequent showdowns a little too easy on hardcore since you could snag one of each phone after killing the target right from the very first segment of the campaign. You could do similar shenanigans towards the end of a regular campaign too.
Me
New weapons and gear in general would be a welcoming change!
Would love the Floral pistol, Ancestral Fountain Pen, RDIF bomb and some of the weapons and gear from the paid DLC’s to be added in some way.
And I know I keep saying this… But the variation maps
There’s a few things still missing for the ‘How to Play’ video, i.e Seasonal Safehouse decorations!!
I’m thinking as well, more in-game weapons to use from the weapon loot crates as well! sometimes I get a bit tired of opening the loot crates during a mission and seeing an Apple, Banana, Wrench or the Robot Toy in them. It would be cool to have a couple of new randomised items in the loot crates, which may be of assistance for 47 during missions.
Still think IOI should just add a miscellaneous tool chest or something in the safehouse basement where everything not in the walls or in the tool case can be picked up to use in Freelancer. Still need to release all map default suits to be able to play them, too, although I’m really only focused on the ones from Colorado and Whittleton Creek.
The way I play Freelancer, all I need in the safehouse is the Tools and one of anything needed to complete any objective/prestige objective that could come up. The rest of it could go in the bin as far as I’m concerned because I never use them.
There’s already enough pointless items as it is imo.
Half the way to GOAT challenge! Took me almost two years to reach this point…
Still think it’s way too much to complete this one. Likewise, challenges like Top Dog with 100 completed campaigns are unnecessary very time-consuming.
But, remember the time when GOAT was set to 10,000?
