Really a refreshing mode considering I stopped playing the trilogy having been burned out and completely overwhelmed by the sheer amount of content.
Freelancer gives you something concrete to strive towards (mastery, weapon unlocks, tools) while also giving you a fresh challenge each time without the constraints of SA.
The highlight for me has to be when I had a challenge to do an accident kill + hide the target’s body (people seeing it fails the objective) in Paris. My target was on the auction floor, a model next to the window overlooking the helicopter. She stumbled onto the balcony nearby after finishing a conversation with Dalia and saw a body I had hidden there earlier so she had to be KO’d. Seeing as there were no crates nearby and no silent way to do an accident either that I could think of in the moment, I decided to clean out the courtyard all the way down below, drop her body from the 3rd floor, have her land, and die, in front of the door to the basement and drag her into a crate. A guard I distracted by making him move a pistol had just barely missed her falling on his way back.
Of course I also had a moment of brilliance when I used a car as cover in a firefight and majestically got blown up along with a really good sniper rifle and a bunch of gear just as I had almost collected every single tool.
I haven’t noticed any graphical issues at all, but to be honest, I have absolutely no idea what my framerate even is. I am on a PC but i’m using a GTX 1660 so it’s not exactly state of the art.
As for the coin : did anyone find it ?
The non-collector one, the one in the crate, I mean.
My current theory is that it’s a pickup that spawn with a mastery Safehouse improvements.
A constant mastery reward of a sort. What would be better for the Coin. Even more for one named ICA Performance Coin.
I’m especially eyeing the infirmary : the first three level of it go from a stethoscope, to a stethoscope and a scalpel, to stethoscope scalpel and syringe crafting.
There is a fourth and fifth ones relatively late in the mastery (71 and 97), and it would make sense to have it there.
At least I hope, if that’s how it works, that it is in the basement.
I don’t mind going up for exceptional specific action (banana for a slip payout, poison if I don’t have one for a foodie leader, later I think remote explosive crafting for the safes). But for something as useful (and something made to be thrown away) as a coin I really hope it’s in the basement.
Best would even be on the dossier table, in front of the map. It would be appropriate. And satisfying.
I only consider bodies found as part of SA because IOI made it part of the condition for most of the games in the series. Even though Freelancer doesn’t always have SA terms to it, I don’t even consider the bodies being found as ruining SA, so long as you aren’t seen. In such case, Invisible Assassin would be a more appropriate term, and just as acceptable.
I had a non-showdown mission end within 36 seconds the other day. It was in Hokkaido and I spawned in 47’s room. The single target was sitting on the bench immediately outside that same room so I ran out, shot him, and just kept running to the exit.
FYI: There’s a small amount of Merces available to pickup in the safe in Mendoza. Also, It bugs me how at the start of the mission Diana pronounces it “Vinedo Yates” instead of “Viñedo Yates”
I think whoever is writing her scripts either changed or they don’t know themselves. Diana has gone back and forth between calling Chongqing Chong-ching (The Rage ET briefing) and Chong-king (Freelancer), plus Atlan-tyde and Atlan-teed. I just see it as tomAto and tomAHto, and Jane Perry is just doing saying it as directed.
Well, having not had much time to game recently, I’ve finally completed my first campaign. Proud to say that I haven’t missed a target, exited early or died a single time yet (without using any exploits).
I’m not sure if you wanted to come off as a dismissive jerk, but you came off as a dismissive jerk, not just of the work I put into that page, but for all of the editors on there.
Wiki editing is not easy, and I certainly don’t like it when people try to dismiss it as if it’s old hat to use the site, which is a ludicrous notion. I make a point to try and keep those pages (and the officially unofficial wiki for Hitman) as up to date as I can.
Played the first syndicate in Hardcore mode. Damn, that’s already been difficult, not sure how hard it will get after this. Definitely not going to play this for fun after I get this done.
The first mission was is Sgail and somehow my best idea was to pick the “timed - get disguises” prestige objective out of three bad options because I had done it previously on Sgail too. Little did I know one of the three targets would be at the penthouse and the starting location would be the boat. I also didn’t take my collector’s lockpick because I didn’t want to lose it, but it would have definitely helped. Had to get an SMG from a guard to shoot the kitchen door open to get to the last target. Got six disguises overall - guard, elite guard, entertainer, ark member, initiate, event staff. What a rough start.
After that Santa Fortuna was a breeze. I got a crowbar from the crate too so no need to use the collector’s lockpick. The prestige objective I picked was a shuriken kill and that was very easy to do.
Well, the showdown gave me trash prestige objectives again. Two timed objectives and SA. Picked SA, even though I considered choosing “timed - silent takedown”. Well, I would have been in a much bigger trouble had I chosen that one because, surprise surprise, there are nine suspects in the first showdown. I had to be extra careful not to lose SA, especially all the lookouts were a real menace. I had cooked some poison in the shed and the target did like to eat some food so I snuck into the villa and poisoned her stuff. Job done.
Didn’t get any progress to “Natural Selection” which should be about killing leaders with crafted poisons. Is that bugged too or what does it mean, I definitely crafted the poison in my shed?
