Freelancer - General Discussion

It’s never been required, but the items will spawn in the crates/suppliers which potential block items that are required from appearing.

So they’re quasi-required so they don’t become a barrier to get what you actually need.

I’m too good at this, Freelancer needs a new content, new stuff, new things too do :stuck_out_tongue:
I like how everything is perfectly and smooth executed. But I need a fresh blood!

IOI It’s time to bring a Freelancer 2.0 update! I don’t understand this - everybody now in game industry monetise their games with a lot of new paid content, and IOI do nothing. This game is too good to be just leaved that alone. IOI DO SOMETHING!

Can confirm. You can see in the background that I still haven’t got one of the trinity pistols, but I can reset my prestige level now.

That’s handy to know.

Also to note, even though it doesn’t count for prestige, it still resets when you advance to the next level.

I never thought DLC items counted towards Prestige anyway? I can’t remember where I read that officially, but I has been mentioned on here before I’m pretty sure.

You’re correct - they haven’t ever counted. There was just confusion slightly earlier in the thread where someone thought they were.

This is the only DLC weapon pack I own, hence the doubt.

It’s really not that bad. Take the plunge and you’ll quickly develop the instinct to non-lethally take people out to use their disguise and favouring civilian disguises during showdowns.

Beyond that, you have barely any health and you do need to develop a feeling for when your actions are going to put the AI into what I call “terrified mode” (AKA everyone is insta-orange and hostile) which in my experience is typically after killing a couple of people. This AI mode definitely also happens in regular play but seems to have a much higher threshold. Patience (and hiding) is a virtue if you’re not keen on posting up in a single-entry room and engaging in a massacre.

Also, having suspects be suspicious of you is more of a blessing than a curse - once I’ve used a civvie disguise to figure out who it is, I’ll frequently change back to something that makes them suspicious so that they follow me.

Well, we’ll see! I’ll definitely play another couple of Hardcore games in the future, but as to whether I switch to that mode full time, well I’m not so sure about that yet :joy:

Does exiting an alerted man without killing all targets result in camping failure? What about exiting an alerted map without killing any targets at all? Can you exit every map without killing any targets, but still complete the campaign successfully if you kill the leaders in showdowns?

Yes. Campaign fails exiting an alerted territory. Only benefit is keeping what you’re carrying iirc.

Probably mainly so you can’t do that.

Exiting early or dying on Alerted territory is an instant campaign failure. Just thinking of it feels me with dread because I hate having to go and collect all the weapons again

You actually don’t lose anything other than your tools when you do that. Sometimes it’s preferable to exit the level with your Silverballer rather than dying in a shootout

Do you still lose a load of Merces doing that? I can’t recall

Yeah, you lose them upon exiting the level, which means you can spend them before they’re halved (while they’re halved instantly if you let a leader escape).

But exiting a normal map without doing anything just fails that particular mission, not the whole campaign, right?

Yes, that is indeed correct

It does also alert one (I think only one?) of the following territories though.

Yeah exiting a normal map (non-alerted) just puts a cross through that mission on the campaign trial and you don’t loose any tools, nor do you fail the campaign :slightly_smiling_face:
