Freelancer - General Discussion

Ok, then I’ve got my strategy for speeding up the complete 100 campaigns challenge.

Something I did not know and would not have even thought about. So thought I’d draw attention to it. Via reddit.

Somewhat, the general consensus seems to be you’d assume “no firearms” = you can not use a firearm. I don’t think I’d ever use the android in freelancer personally, but still.

I mean, it doesn’t fail when a guard uses a firearm… So not an unreasonable assumption to think the android would fall into the same category.

Doesn’t help much since doing that makes the other non-alerted missions alerted as well.

Finally got the Top Dog challenge for completing 100 campaigns. Funnily enough, the leader for the fourth syndicate in that 100th campaign was also the final leader from the very first campaign I did, back during the Closed Technical Test.
(This guy, if you’re curious)

Just one more challenge for 100%!!! (As long as you don’t count elusive target SA ratings)

In situations where necessary. I just needed to know it’s possible.

Actually if you can manage alerted showdowns easily (I usually do them with sniping on Mendoza) you can just get out of the last non-alerted level before the showdown and that will cut down 4 missions from the campaign, making it a bit faster. If the showdown level was already alerted, you even lose nothing by doing so (aside from the merces the mission would have given you of course) since you can’t make an already alerted level more alerted.

Yeah it will speed things up a little, although other areas will gradually become alerted the more you exit early, so you’ll obviously have to complete those missions.

can you do Colorado SA/SO last syndicate showdown? :cowboy_hat_face:

I don’t see any skill in choosing SA/SO in Colorado for last Syndicate Showdown, just pure stupidity - especialy that there is a lot of randomness involved. Freelancer is about a strategic and smart choices. This is not a smart choice

This seems like a lot of extra words used to say “no, I can’t do it.” He’s not asking about skill, first of all. He’s asking if you can do it. Secondly, if you don’t think beating that map in that way during a showdown involves skill, then you’re either being deliberately dismissive in order to deflect, or you’ve been playing the game safe the whole time and have begun telling yourself that you’re better than you really are. I’ll even go further on this one: can you beat Colorado, SA/SO, no firearms, no KO, no emetics, no bodies found, hide target bodies, remote explosive kill, during a showdown, on Hardcore. If you don’t think that involves actual skill

Yes.

Now do that walking only, no run if that’s still not enough. Where lies borderline of that nonsense?

I already always walk. I never run. It’s called the Heisenberg Parameters of Perfection, and I have a whole thread devoted to it.

The borderline is, in order to show how good you are at something, you make it harder, and improve. What you call nonsense is really no different than adding more weights to a bench press. The fact that you dismiss it as “nonsense” calls into question exactly what you do to consider yourself “too good” at Freelancer.

I wonder how far you’ll keep pushing the boundary of absurdity until you realize that you’re impressing no one - except for inflating your own ego.

In bench pressing, there’s a fundamental difference between wanting to impress other gym-goers and focusing on your body, endurance, and maintaining a healthy balance. If you consider impressing your friends or yourself a skill in itself, then congratulations. I’d rather spend that time improving my skills in more practical areas than a video game. That’s why for me it’s a nonsense. It’s called Shade’s common sense. But cheers, you’re top dog!

Then what are you even talking about. You say you’re too good and Freelancer needs to change, then dismiss feats that would show you’re actually good as nonsense, and say that even talking about doing the things that would actually make you good is somehow about ego, when you’re the one who was talking about being “too good” at it in the first place. What point are you trying to make?

Can you all go brag about how great you are somewhere else? Make a new thread if you just want to tell us all how skilled you are or how boring and unchallenging the game is.

Congratulations! You achived Johny Bravo 100% T-shirt!

I’m good enough at this game that nothing it offers in terms of challenge levels is difficult for me – that’s why I said that. I have no need to create artificial restrictions just to boost my ego. That would be a complete waste of time.

Congratulations on your achievement! Haha i’m remember this same guy from TSS (I believe had this same one).

I’m still at 40/100 campaigns, and it looks like it will take a long time to reach that goal. I won’t deny that I take breaks and step away from the game for a while to avoid getting burned out. I just reached Prestige Level 5 and got to the point where I need another long break from the game.

Wow, that looks like you almost at end of the game :winking_face_with_tongue: The only challenges I have left are the ones related to the number of syndicate/leader kills and campaign/prestige progress.

Unfortunately, I’m really feeling the game’s monotony now. I wish IOI would give us a big expansion, new features, and real game development instead of just throwing in scraps to artificially extend its lifespan. New locations or missions sound like a dream with little chance of becoming reality.

For now, keep doing fine work, and I’m stepping away from the game until the next Celebrity Season! Cheers!

I’d say I’m pretty good at Freelancer, but no way I’d accept that challenge haha :joy::joy:

Colorado showdowns are actually pretty easy with the Wicker Man since you can just run around and everyone will die without understanding what’s going on (but you’ll usually lose tons of merces for non-leader suspect kills).

Colorado SASO on last HC showdown seems very hard on the other hand… but I’d still take that over Hokkaido :x
