Have you tried to do prestige speedruns (from no weapons to full wall)? That could be interesting to planify getting all the free weapons, although the last few weapons unlocks are probably gonna be a bit too random :x
or the suppliers could sell disguises that are available on the map ⦠perhaps you carry them around in a briefcase until you need them
Get ready for that unlock that I can just see coming, which will be hidden behind requiring a certain amount of Merces!
You can bet your life Iād hit the Prestige button and something would get announced!!
How about adding an option to allow us to bribe lookouts?
I bribe those with fiberwire. Same for miss moojkai that kept roaming and enforcing me in alerted territory and crept on me one time too many when Iām planning my run and otherwise distracted with other things.
Completed the challenge of 2500 Freelancer targets today, with the last one, appropriately, being a Leader at the end of a syndicate contract. Down to only 5 challenges remaining.
Great work!
Iāve got them all, but just holding off on the Prestige challenges for now.
Iām at Prestige 97 now, and Iām expecting to hit 100 and fill the wall one last time during the upcoming Twitch drops. After that Iāll probably play a bit less HITMAN for a while. I wish theyād keep working on major improvements and features for Freelancer. The showdown mechanics are extremely undercooked, and thereās so much more they couldāve done with the mode.
Here are just some of the major improvements that could be made in order to take Freelancer from being a 7/10 makeshift game mode to a solid 10/10 standalone assassination/infiltration/extraction roguelite:
-
Most unlockable cosmetic reskins are NOT available in Freelancer, which feels like a massive oversight to me. We should be able to choose a briefcase skin to bring into levels, or choose cosmetic reskins for our tools and weapons on the wall, based on what weāve unlocked from the main game. This could also open up a potential revenue stream for IOI with purely cosmetic microtransactions that donāt affect gameplay in any way. If done right, I see this as a good thing.
-
Silent Assassin (without any extra nonsense like NF or SO) should be added as an ALWAYS available FOURTH Prestige objective choice. That way people could do full SA campaigns without having to use third party tools or video forensics to know if they had an SA rating.
-
The camera flash needs to actually work so that the still image of the suspect is actually brightened by it. Come on, dudesā¦
-
We need more alternate ways to check for tells since the suspects can sometimes just stand around doing NOTHING for extended periods of time, and then get called to a meeting halfway across the map. 47 should be able to smell cigarette smoke on a smoker, or alcohol on a ādehydratedā target. They should have items in their inventories like cigarettes or books, that you can find after you knock them out. Maybe randomly spawn intel caches hidden around the map that could rule out a non-target suspect when you interact with them. The āsmartā camera should also be able to save the information on a particular suspect if you are observing them as they do a tell, for instance (Maybe disable that feature in Hardcore mode though).
-
More ways to spend merces! Have the option before a mission to pay to spawn in a certain disguise, reduce alert level from alerted to non-alerted, pay off lookouts so thereās fewer of them, rule out a suspect or two, body armor, starting with extra ammo, etc! The possibilities are plentiful here! Flesh out the stock market computer in the safehouse vault into a market manipulation mini game with bonus targets added to the missions in order to affect stock prices. There could also be long term goals that require millions of merces to permanently unlock safehouse cosmetics or roguelite style meta-progression upgrades. Give long term players something to work towards!
-
More heist-style gameplay to collect rare/epic/legendary weapons from the levels! Looting the New York vault is great, and I donāt understand why it was nerfed in the early days of Freelancer. There should be more like this in other maps as well, not less. Rebalance the loot crates so theyāre more likely to contain something thatās actually useful. Reintroduce all the propane flasks that were removed from Freelancer. In Dartmoor especially. When Silent Assassin rating isnāt the main goal, propane flasks do not require nerfing. The explosion they cause get guards into search mode and create a lot of chaos to overcome, and you also need to find a safe angle to shoot them without getting spotted.
-
Diana throwing a tantrum and disposing of all your Freelancer tools whenever you fail a campaign needs to be removed. Itās not a fun mechanic, and it makes it needlessly tedious to get back on the horse after an unfortunate accident. Keep it in hardcore mode only for the masochists, I guess.

Rebalance the weapons and tools so that their price, rarity and inventory weight actually make sense. My main problems with the current balance: There is only ONE Epic Unsilenced Pistol (El Matador) for the Prestige objective. Most of the sniper rifles are almost completely unusable due to the long unpack animation and have no upside to compensate for this drawback. Add some spicy options like the special ammo types from the Sniper Assassin mode! Some of the cheapest and easiest to obtain weapons are the strongest ones. Assault rifles have worse accuracy at extreme ranges than pistols do. Even the semi-automatic ones canāt hit the broad side of a barn with the very first shot. Add a lategame unlock to get all the safehouse freebie items like the Fish, Banana Newspaper, Makeshift Explosive etc in a convenient box in the briefing area of the safehouse so you donāt have to go upstairs to get them before every mission. Also, add a loud bean bag shotgun that has massive ragdoll knockback and renders the target unconscious. Good for pushing targets off a ledge.
-
Rebalance Prestige objectives so that the risk actually correlates to the reward. This is especially important for Showdown-specific objectives. Also, Arrange Meeting still doesnāt properly trigger half the time when you use a meeting phone; a bug that was never addressed. (Donāt try to tell me that I need to arrange it in a specific spot, or that suspects must be awake. Iāve tested many variables extensively, and the results just feel COMPLETELY RANDOM.) I addressed the Silent Assassin objective in point 2. It should just be removed from the random 3 that you can choose from, and added as a 4th that is always available.
-
Rebalance blue objectives so that the risk actually correlates to the reward. Perfect Shooter and No Combat should be worth 1500, not 500. There are other egregious examples of objectives that are easy to trigger but too rewarding, or hard to keep, but not rewarding enough. I donāt have the energy to list them all right now, and it shouldnāt be my job to do fix this broken mess anyway.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. I probably forgot to add a bunch of things. Too fried, though. End of rant.
Prestige level 97 is insane. Hitman WOA is like the only game I play, and Iām at 28 only. Huge respectļ¼
Some absolutely fantastic ideas!!! I hope IOI see this!
I do agree, I hope Freelancer gets some more love across Year 5 and I know Samir has acknowledged that fans would like more Freelancer love in the Hitman live streams!
There are too much artificial difficulty in freelancer now ,especially in hardcore, they are so boring.Itās should be changed immediately .
I have seen it, pushing the feedback to the team.
I did it. Finally got the āTop Dogā-challenge. Now Iām only missing āCold Feetā ā mostly because it doesnāt always count towards the challenge.
I donāt agree. I like that SA is more of an optional/occasional thing, unlike the main game. If itās always available, a lot of players (including me) will end up feeling a soft pressure to play everything SA like in story mode. The genius of Freelancer is that it opened up for different playstyles and it was clearly intentional.
Not against adding the option of green guns though.
Nothing would be stopping you from engaging in free playstyles, and any āpressure,ā soft or otherwise, that you may feel if SA was always available as a PO would be self-imposed, and an issue you would need to resolve yourself.
I agree with this suggestion, and have often thought about it myself. I want to always be able to have a PO active because of the extra Merces involved, but based on the playstyles that I enjoy, where no non-targets are killed except to fill objectives where guards need to be killed a certain way (whom I just consider additional targets), and not having to rush everywhere like with those stupid timed POs, I canāt always use one. And some of the SA ones, such as the no firearms requirement, are a pain in the ass because often I must use dart guns in order to accomplish the rest of the objectives. Hence why I like this idea of an SA PO with no special requirements always being available, especially if it could work in conjunction with my previously spoken idea for the option to turn off the other objectives individually, with their Merces gains being added to the base earnings of the mission itself. These two changes would allow those of us who like playing the game the way we can in the main missions to do so, without disrupting the ability of others to play the way they wish to.
Thereās always the possibility of not picking it and going for any of the other 3 options if you want to go for a different playstyle.
Unless you happen to roll the stupid ākatana killā objective that always comes with another weapon kill PO and basically reduces your options to 2 -_-
Once again, thanks Samir! Respect
Having Silent Assassin as a permanently available objective completely overrides the whole point of Freelancer to me. One of the main reasons Freelancer has been so popular is precisely because it gives you freedom of approach to play any style without worrying about SA or get punished (lower xp, less merces) if you donāt achieve it.
If you want to go for SA thereās nothing stopping you from imposing that restriction on yourself, many players already do. Itās also pretty easy to tell if your run was SA or not without a third party indicator, we all know the criteria by now.
If you really feel like you need a third party to indicate SA, then the obvious solution is to simply make the SA hud available on Freelancer⦠the fact that the devs purposely removed the SA hud from Freelancer further shows that this mode was never intended to be all about the silent assassin approach.
Thereās more than enough content to play in the other modes silent assassin style.
I also disagree about needing further indicators for showdown suspects. The current 2 tells and 4 appearance identifiers are fine as they are.
Hitman has always been about patience, scoping out your targets, watching their routines and biding your time before taking action.
Yes sometimes the suspects will take their time to do a tell, but thereās plenty of other ways to identify them by process of elimination with the other suspects.
Being patient and going in blind is kinda the whole point of the showdowns, and again itās what separates Freelancer from the other modes.
I do agree that the camera flash could be better, it can sometimes be hard to see things like earrings and tattoos in low light or dark maps like Ambrose for example.
I do feel like we need some fresh challenges added though, most of us have completed the original ones by now.
The problem with this statement is three-fold.
Firstly, having SA as a permanent PO would not prevent players from still having the freedom to play it in any style they want, because they would have to choose the SAPO in order for it to affect them. They donāt pick it, they donāt have to worry about it. If the whole thing of Freelancer is freedom of play style, this would actually honor that, giving those who want it access to it always, while allowing those who donāt want it to avoid it always.
Secondly, the point of wanting a permanent SAPO isnāt just about the play style, but the reward. For those of us who want to maximize our Merces rewards without failing or otherwise not completing any objectives, while also playing Silent Assassin style, canāt always do so with the selection of Prestige Objectives that comes up. Sometimes itās a timed one where we must rush when we donāt want to, sometimes itās one where we must have a collateral kill when we donāt want to, sometimes itās SA where we canāt change a disguise or use a firearm, making completing the other objectives impossible in some cases if we choose such a PO. As a result, in order to avoid any failures or changes to our play style, we must forgo any POs, which brings down our reward for completion. A permanent SAPO as a fourth option would remedy that.
Thirdly, the point of Freelancer, in terms of it playing roguelike, where one must weigh the options and choose a course, is not a good fit for Hitman and should never have been implemented, at least not without additional options to get around the limitations such gameplay would impose on those of us who do not want to play in such a way. This suggested option is a good compromise to that.
This is simply not true. The player doesnāt have all the information about what every single NPC has witnessed, and even the most experienced players would have to carefully analyze recorded gameplay footage to accurately gauge whether or not SA remained intact in a mildly chaotic Freelancer mission.
There are of course cases where itās obvious that SA would break, but a lot of the time there are close calls where you simply cannot be certain without access to the gameās logic.
