Freelancer - General Discussion

What does this mean? And I don’t think I’ve seen higher than a 30k value reward after a campaign.

18 is just the number of missions in a full campaign.
The 60k could be referring to the Merces from the crate plus the campaign finished bonus and/or the last mission payout, which you may be able to get if you prestige fast enough (before Diana finishes her dialogue)? Not sure I remember that correctly.

As your toolboxes are probably full as well, what you can also try is leaving your favourite tool behind in the last mission before prestiging, so that the tool crate will have only that specific tool instead of a choice of three random ones.

When you take the coin it’s 30k but triggers the 30k win bonus so another 30k 60 k total

Only at the end of an 18 campaign and as long as you have all the gear and ready to advance

But remember open the crate before you advance and don’t take the coin the lid stays open once you leave then advance and come back for the coin after. I can’t stress that part enough

Perfect. Thank you for the info.

This is really useful for when I plan to really get into Prestige sometime in the future. I’ve only ever done it once, but I prefer to play Freelancer with a full inventory, including both Freelancer tools and weapon wall, which is why I’ve only ever Prestige once :slightly_smiling_face:

I will come back to it probably once all content has finished for WOA and there’s time to kill before the next game, so this advice is useful for when I really get into Prestige

I forgot who has a list of all the free items you can get

But I always begin the first mission in Dubai. I need a supressed gun, sometimes suppliers don’t sell any during first few missions, but that elite guard sleeping always has one.

Then the first showdown any assassin will have a real suppressed pistol.

I then prefer isle of Sgail and Paris

The sappers axe, Saber, baseball bat , Mace items you can get. As said someone on this forum has a list of where free items are

The toughest part about advancing in each prestige is the beginning because you have little cash and little weapons. I’m on level 7 and still have 3 more to complete the whole thing.

That’s why I look forward to when I finally prestige level 10, because I will then obtain the items behind the shed when my gear and money is purged, letting me start with two of the most important things I need at the beginning and a supply of Merces to begin buying the rest right away, and I will never prestige again after that.

Honestly once you have a silenced weapon (DAK DTI from Dubai works), any Sieger sniper rifle (the base one is decent and is easily found from vendors, the 15k ones are the best value for the money, the Ghost is just a luxury) and the scalpel / newspaper from the safehouse you have pretty much all you need to speedrun through prestige levels. If you know where to find the “free” weapons you could probably get everything back in like 3-4 campaigns.

One thing I did notice from 6 to lvl 7

The Merces stayed the same. Each lvl 1-5 the payouts increased. But not this time.

Still I’m averaging 10k per mission.

I usually like to just stock pile cash and get about 300-400k and buy a bunch of times

I think I been avg 7 campaigns per lvl give or take

Employee of the year 395/500 leaders

Top dog 84/100 campaigns

Prestige V - lvl 10

These are the last 3 to complete freelancer

Yeah the merces bonus stops after prestige 5.

Stockpiling merces is a pretty bad idea though - deaths can happen and it’s better to lose 2000 merces than 20000 to them. And considering the merces rewards from the crates will always be more than what the items from this tier cost (with a couple of exceptions, like the Leviathan / Ghost and the two dart guns) it’s better to spend everything as soon as you can. Removing all the common items from the pool (by getting them in the levels or buying them) will bring a lot more money in the long run, especially if you tend to die a lot and have to repeat the first syndicate.

I could be wrong, but I think the maximum payout from playing the stock market also decreases in the upper prestige levels. I don’t have anything to prove it, but I remember being able to get as many as 12,000 in one go if timed right, then it stopped happening and never went past 10, then 9, and now I haven’t seen it exceed 8 since my last prestige weeks ago.

That thing always felt 100% random to me (and I lost about as much as I won) so I quickly stopped paying attention to it to focus on more efficient ways to make merces.

I learned to trigger more predictable wins at a particular point in the scroll, and would restart and try again anytime it failed, so I’ve been able to see this very slight pattern. Most of the time it’s random, but I have noticed winning streaks, losing streaks, and that the maximum appears to have lowered as my prestige has raised.

Another good tip for when Prestiging is if you have a Freelancer tool you deem to be essential and would rather not be without, on your last mission before Prestiging - purposefully leave it in the level when you exit.

Then open the crate and the tool will be there (assuming you have a full tool set) - but don’t pick it up. Once you prestige, pick it up and you’ve “saved” that essential item for your first mission of the new Prestige.

Well I’ve learnt something else about Freelancer as I didn’t know that either. Thanks for sharing, really helpful :+1:t2:

Hope my math is right

But I added all the items from all 11 boards of the gear wall.

I came out with 157 items

I’ll have to try that

Having the lock pick off the bat would be nice.

Goddammit all, I finished the campaign last night, but the one item that I could not get and refused to show up in the suppliers’ inventory at the end, was the Red Trinity pistol. Since I don’t need it to Prestige to the next level, I figured I’d ignore it this time so I could try the Merces-in-the-box Prestige trick. I figured the pistol would not be in the box because it’s ranked Epic, and the final contract reward is supposed to be Legendary, so I expected it to skip it. Guess where this is going… surprise! Fucking pistol was in the box, so now I have to go through a whole other campaign before Prestiging to the next level to try the trick. Goddammit all.

If you have all the items, you can advance but if you started a new campaign and want the 60k to begin the next prestige you will need to complete a new campaign

You can advance now but won’t have any $

Also did you begin the new campaign?

Because if not and close out the program. Before it has a chance to save . The system should reset meaning when you log in, it should return you to the rewards chest after completing the campaign.

Those Trinity Weapons and other items from that specific weapon wall are hit and miss showing up in the suppliers inventory for some reason? Even the weapon crates at the end of a campaign, sometimes it’s just merces in there and the DLC weapons don’t show up until sometime later on :face_with_diagonal_mouth:
