Speaking of that, I know that’s the Perfect Run Prestige Objective that was removed, but what happened to the Perfect Run XP bonus? Did it also get removed?
It’s been a while since I’ve played Freelancer, so I’m kinda foggy on it, but I had a perfect run recently I think should have granted me it, but no dice. (Then I didn’t perfect the next mission, so idk)
I finished all the objectives and the Prestige, which should be a perfect run, but nothing? Am I getting this wrong, do I need to get a sequence of perfect runs for it to trigger? Is it only on Showdown missions?
I remember having a smooth time leveling up when I got to the mastery in the 70s by doing multiple missions of a perfect run, and that bonus XP being a good extra push in the mastery bar.
I’ve found that the Perfect Run XP bonus doesn’t always get applied if you skip the exiting cutscene too quickly. I assume there is some validation going on while its playing, so if you end the cutscene early, the game doesn’t have enough time before it locks in whether you’re getting that XP or not.
Based on the background in the screenshot, it looks like the cutscene was skipped.
I still consistently get my Perfect Run bonus. It’s 2500 XP and like thrison said, gotta let the Mission Complete text to show up before skipping cutscene.
Tonight I was changing up the Safehouse and thought 47’s garage area needed a slight change.
With the Harbinger taking place after Hitman III and with where Freelancer is set in the story, I thought I’d remove the red van from the garage and replace it with the Ether car from the Harbinger ET as it seems perfect to be placed in there.
So not that I’m a cheater or anything, but is there another way to cheat the prestige levels now that the item dupe glitch was patched? Asking for a friend of course.
If you’re on PC, you could install the Rogueless Freelancer mod and enable being able to Prestige at any time and getting to keep your items. You can either Prestige, exit to menu, load back in and repeat, or Prestige, play a mission and repeat.
If you’re on console, you could also buy a cheap Steam key, setup cross progression and do the above as it carries over.
It’s been a lot of fun replaying Freelancer as of late - a thing I quite enjoy doing is baiting all of the suspects on the final showdown in Mendoza and most of them end up going to the grape field. I saw a Reddit post where somebody entered the invisible box of ultimate hostility where lockdown guards are ultra suspicious and hostile (I don’t think I’ll ever understand when they are and aren’t because they are sometimes enforcers to all disguises regardless if you enter the box or not, and then sometimes they’re ok as long as you don’t enter the box!), so I avenge them and everybody else who have died to this hidden game mechanic!
My favourite Sniper spot on Mendoza is overlookong the Vineyard which oversees the dance floor. I’ve always managed to get lucky by killing the Leader from that view
Oh, that’s another favourite of mine as well! I remember I played my first ever Showdown on there back at release, and blew myself up with an explosive baseball!
Someone called me as I was in mission Friday evening, I hit the “pause - exit to menu” reflexively…
The day after as I loaded in back, I found 47 in the infirmary, a lost campaign, and half the mercers gone.
It took a beat to understand and remember what happened.
On the other hand I had a fun sniping opportunity in the session.
I went out of my way to take a rarely used position for it.
It’s nice when Freelancer gives way to an unusual to do yet satisfying play of the level design.
I remember when I lost 9 million getting sniped by an Assassin in Whittleton Creek, I thought it was just one of the regular undercover guards but sadly not!
Aww man that’s gutting, but you’ll bounce back I’m sure
I messed up not that long ago when an Assassin shot me on Whittleton Creek and I was on roughly 7+ million merces and it totally knocked me off the pedestal. I’m slowly getting back there now, but it’s taking me a while.
Has anyone been experiencing server lag over the last few days, especially on Freelancer? Tonight there has been exceptional lagging, when I’m clicking a destination, it’s takes around 8 seconds for the objectives to show and the loading screens take absolutely forever as well. To be fair, it’s been a bit laggy the last few days, so hopefully it sorts out
Happens to me on a semi-frequent basis. I always thought it was to do with my internet though, it mostly occurs leaving a mission and having a long load before you get to the debriefing screen and then also leaving the safehouse and before you load into a loading cutscene.
Just happened to me, I thought it was because I was livestreaming but I guess it’s more common than that. I almost failed a mission because I went to exit before the last target had registered as dead, and it took like 15 seconds for the game to update properly.
It’s an IOI server issue and today the servers have been going down completely on different platforms. https://hitmanstat.us/
Recently they have been unstable too.
Well, that makes me feel so happy and good, considering we’re trying to play a game that has its playability almost completely dependent on being connected to those servers for some fucked-up reason!
