Freelancer - General Discussion

Both of the recent dlcs have added pay to win items, so it could happen, regardless if it is wrong or right.

Just lost a run because I bought a proximity explosive and it immediately blew me up well that’s a sign i should stop trying this mode if I’ve ever seen one

We’ve all been there. Don’t give up. If it was a mistake, that you meant to bring a remote charge but grabbed a proximity instead, you’ll select more carefully next time. If you meant to bring it but got too close by accident, you’ll take greater care with the placement and remember where you put it. Keep at it.

No? I bought it from a npc and just died on the spot

That’s not intended and very weird, what location was it on?

might be an issue with the merchant on that map where purchasing stuff leads to it being dropped by the player unintentionally leading to the proximity explosive going off.

Whittleton creek specifically the muffin guy in the old lady’s garage

Well, all the explosives, except the ones that come with CelebrET DLC packs, are tools, not weapons, and will eventually appear in your toolbox in the safehouse. To avoid this issue, for the time being, might be best to avoid buying them from suppliers and just get them that way.

Hrm I’ll try to do some testing in a bit…

Okay, yea I’d avoid purchasing any proximity item for the time being and only procure them through the reward chest in the Safehouse.

I get they’re cheap and accessible but currently only buy safe items

I usually blow up the extinguisher next to that guy to KO him then stash him in the freezer once I’m done shopping, I guess you got the explosives karma backfire instead of me :x

(but yeah if you play Freelancer for a good amount of time it’s pretty common to get killed by your own proxy explosives at some point)

And feel like a complete fucking idiot for it.

Remember when it happened to me on a hardcore run and I just stared at my screen.

I played a bit of Freelancer and the Harbinger Elusive Target tonight and had a thought…….

As the Drop and the Harbinger Elusive Targets are clearly set post Hitman epilogue, wouldn’t it be cool if those versions of Berlin and Dartmoor were added to Freelancer to fully fit the post Hitman III narrative? The Club in Berlin has undergone fully refurbishment and Thornbridge Manor has changed slightly since Alexa’s death.

I know it’s unlikely to happen, but it would be cool to see!

I guess you could expect it in Freelancer Variations

Quick question: do I have a random false memory, or did Freelancer used to have a “Shoot target into water” objective that was removed at some point? I can’t remember seeing this for the longest time, but I swear it existed at some point.

Can’t remember something like that. Could be a memory from an escalation?

I don’t think there ever was such objective.

The removed one was for a Perfect Run wich wouldn’t complete consistently.

Still, there are objectives in Sick Games and Eco Crime syndicates and in showdowns about a kill using a water canister trap.

I believe there’s an unused string like that in the files, but it was never in the released version of the mode.

Hmmmm. Maybe it was live in CTT then and that’s what I’m thinking of.

I swear I remember at some stage having that objective in Dartmoor and luring the target to one of the pond things in the garden out back and shooting them into it so I could complete it.

This is some positive news for Freelancer!!
