Freelancer - General Discussion

From my experience assassins always closely follow a suspect like a bodyguard, making them easy to spot.
Lookouts are civilians with super enforcer status, so just look out for regular NPCs with white dots over their heads.
On top of that, both seem to be quite bad at blending in and will walk through restricted areas in civilian clothing.

How does the safe hacking work? It says to start scanning with the camera for clues but is there any indication of where to start scanning? They say nearby but that could mean the entire map.

so what’s the difference between the wall weapons and the free lancer weapons?

Had the same problem. Look around the room. You’ll find stacks of paper, notebooks, and/or some glowing smart phone-looking things lying around. The safe tells you how many ā€œcluesā€ there are, so you know how many to look for. Scam them and the safe will open.

How is it that Lookouts ruin runs so easily as I’ve heard? Are people just not expecting them? Do they walk around in unpredictable routes, making it easy to stumble upon you doing something that raises an alert? Or do they have extended vision cones from other NPCs and can see you across the map?

Wow this mode is brutal (and I’ve SASO all maps on master). But so far I am enjoying it!
I also haven’t played many contracts so the mode feels fresh to me.

  • The slow mastery burn is fine to me.

  • Removed items from the maps are also fine by me

  • I actually think we are rewarded with too many items. It really doesn’t take long to have what you need. You are still rewarded with tools even if you die.

  • Targets becoming enforcers in escelated areas makes for an interesting twist

  • I think some things can be exploited. Like starting a new campaign you could jump into a few maps, grab some weapons from specific guards and then head home. Sacrifice failing a campaign but still having weapons in your inventory.

  • Game crashed in Mumbai for me.

Definitely not a mode I can play for too long because of the intensity, but this is cool so far! Especially capturing that tense feeling

Mostly just being an extra enforcer in a place you thought was safe, but also when they see you they spook all the suspects & suddenly you have 2 minutes to chase down 4 people across the map

There’s an annoyance where if you pick up and leave a map with the same weapon that you have already stashed in your safehouse, it disappears from the wall as you have the weapon. You have to replace it all the time (looking at you Bartoli)/

Best thing to do is to ensure you don’t have any weapons you already have to save to the trouble.

You know you can just drop it anywhere in the safehouse and it’s on the wall?

Yeah but I’ve had an issue where it doesn’t stay (or maybe that was freelancer stuff? )

Only 4 campaigns failed in a single day, I think I’ve made some progress since the CTT :3

Okay, I think whenever I make it to Mastery 47 on the Safehouse (which I hope there’s something special in that slot ) I will then probably check out the other 53 mastery levels in the track.

There’s a certain leaked suit from many, MANY months ago when I was following that stuff, that I’d hope would be a fitting reward In FL and I’m interested if its finally here…

It seems 1/3 of the Mastery is locked behind H3 Deluxe Pack and that there are cosmetic DLC coming up. So they are finding ways to monetize this. My thoughts on the matter are still the same:

By the way, the assassins have cool unique silenced pistols you can steal if you don’t have one. The silenced pistols cost a lot of money so the fastest way to get one should be taking out an assassin in the first showdown.

It’s what I did too! Felt quite proud of that little piece of improvisation after I saw the reward for it.

I already finished the first two showdowns and still haven’t even seen an assassin

That either means they’re really good, or incredibly shit.

Assassins are just guard AI with a civilian model.

As you get familiar with maps, it’ll become obvious whom is an assassin since they’re usually following a suspect.

They can also end you in just a couple of shots, so ending up in combat with one that has line of sight is likely to be fatal.
