Freelancer - General Discussion

Thanks for the heads-up about the assassin’s damage output. I’ll have to think careful about dealing with these Assassins, I at least want one of their pistols to have in my first showdown :stuck_out_tongue:

but I wonder if the assassin don’t just shoot you if you have been stealthy and haven’t yet engaged with the target, as this would make sense. Both missions I have done, I eliminated the targets when they were completely alone, so maybe the assassins weren’t fast enough

As I said, they’re just guard AI. Consequently they follow the rules of guard AI.

Do they count as guard AI? Like, for the kill 3 guards objectives, would killing an assassin count? How about the lookouts? If so, I can see a way of getting rid of a big annoyance and earning a payout.

Assassins are guards, lookouts are not guards. And a guard is a guard is far as the game is concerned

OMG, I lost half of my money… but good thing I got a suit …

Whatever you do in Freelancer - just DONT DIE !!

I completed the primary objective and was greedy for 1000 mercs - shotgun kill guards - and then I was shooting around like fps - as the shotgun was not silenced and then someone shot me …

I was so greedy…

Yes. There’s also a prestige objective for specifically taking an assassin out, makes for a nice combo.

I pretty much always pack an assassin pistol since it’s so easy to re-acquire

Damn, that means I’ll need to do something else about the Lookouts. Are there a certain number per map, or is there just one per map, do we know?

Remember how i shared my cheese strat with boxing the suspects (which they nerfed)?

Well, heres another cheese strat :stuck_out_tongue: (allthough this one won’t be possible all the time)

When you get the optional objective of shooting a target with a dart and/or emetic a target, then just sieker a suspect: When the objective completes it’s the leader, if it doesn’t it’s not.

Hey all,

enjoying Freelancer so far, but I have a few questions for clarification and wonder if someone could answer them for me:

  1. Will there be substantial respawning items in the safehouse later on? Like a silenced pistol, Poison or something like that?
  2. Is there any difference between gold/purple grade weapons and the normal ones? Do you lose the legendary weapons as well when you die or are they respawning in your house? Because if they don´t, I don´t really see the sense of using them at all:D How is this working with the tools? Same way?
  3. Will start my first hardmode soon, did I understood right that you fail immediately if you fail one of the additional challenges?

Thanks in advance and have a good one guys:D

  1. Haven’t got that far but I highly doubt there’s anything that valuable in the unlockable areas. A coin outdoors is the best thing I have found lol.
  2. You lose all tools you’re carrying no matter what the rarity is. The rarer weapons are usually better though and some challenges are tied to using them.
  3. You have to choose one prestige challenge to each mission and will fail the entire campaign if that challenge is failed. The other three challenges don’t matter. Keep in mind that all your current items will vanish when switching to hardcore mode.

Thanks for answering.

  1. Ok, my best item yet is the Strangulation tool in the “hospital” room

  2. Thats a shame, because until now i just found “use type of weapon x for the kill” and maybe with a silencer. Just wondering why tf I should use the gold Hackl, if I can use a blue Sieger 300 with more or less same stats but way easier to find again if lost… Makes the gold weapons pretty useless for me.

  3. Thanks for clarification. But just the tools are vanishing right? Not the weapons on the board.

Oh yeah it should be like that. I was kinda confused about it earlier too. Haven’t played it myself but will do it later.

Like he said there are some challenges related to using purple or gold weapons so they’re not useless or made just for bringing those in the walls for fear to lose them.
I’m glad that they give so much optional objectives and playstyles… In the main game some time I never use some gadgets, but here that you have to adapt in what you have its really great.

I vaguely remember from the CTT that you’re able to make poison in the shed and explosives in the garage(?), so there’s definitely a lot of value in unlocking areas.

I don’t think IOI will be able to nerf this strat without removing that objective altogether (which I think would be a good thing, those dart gun objectives are just terrible).

But for that you will need to already have some kind of poison among you Freelancer tools, right? I’m guessing it’s the same thing as in Dartmoor and Ambrose.

Personally, I’d be fine if they removed all the objectives. Or made it optional to assign them to the mission in the first place, like how you get to pick the ones you want to assign when making a contract in Contracts mode.

There’s an emetic mushroom that spawns outside the safehouse, so I guess that can be used to craft lethal poison.

Pretty sure I started a mission without selecting any of the prestige challenges. I didn’t have the necessary tools yet and/or they weren’t fun. I don’t think it’s obligated.
