I’ve literally just posted that article in the Safehouse thread before reading this
I too also hope we get more stuff for 47’s Safehouse. Like you say, the Xmas and Halloween decorations are in the files somewhere, so hopefully we’ll get them towards the end of this year.
Oh no, now that I’ve noticed the “target is on screen” music when you’re near the actual target in a Showdown, I can’t un-notice it. I kind of hope they patch it out, there’s no way they intended you to be able to find the target with just one piece of information like that.
On a weird random nitpick note, I think Jane Perry has been an absolutely brilliant voice talent addition to the series and taken the Diana Burnwood character to another level with her fabulous performances, but there is one specific Diana line in Freelancer that drives me potty every time I hear it:
“The target enjoys food… [brief pause that is uncannily just a beat too long] …of any kind.”
I’m going to put it down to clunky writing and direction rather than Perry’s read, but I always cringe when I hear that particular line on a Showdown.
That’s the one that bugs me too. It’s because the pronoun being used is “they”, so the verb “to have” is being conjugated incorrectly. Diana currently says the following:
“As for their description, we know that they have brown hair. They are wearing earrings. They are wearing a hat and has a tattoo.”
Using “has” would only make sense if the subject of the sentence were “he”/“she” or “the target”. Instead, Diana should be saying this:
“As for their description, we know that they have brown hair. They are wearing earrings. They are wearing a hat and have a tattoo.”
However that still sounds a bit odd even though it’s now grammatically correct (which would be my guess for how this error came about in the first place). I feel like they just need to add an extra “they”, like this:
“As for their description, we know that they have brown hair. They are wearing earrings. They are wearing a hat and they have a tattoo.”
That tattoo line always irks me. Always. How that slipped past testing into the voice recording phase is beyond me since it’s not exactly a rare occurence.
On the other hand Diana’s slightly isolated "but…"s always make me smile since it sounds like she’s saying “butt” out of nowhere
The fact there is still no mute-function for Diana’s in-mission lines is beyond me. It seems so easy to implement compared to stuff like aprons clinging to a parallel dimension and bread basket vomit receptacles.
Yeah this isn’t obvious to me either, this is something I’ve been asking for and thought was needed for a while now, and that was just because of main mission target introduction lines Diana always says.
Now with freelancer Diana’s repetition has gotten to a point where I’m sarcastically asking “Gee Diana, do you think that was or wasn’t a blow to the syndicate?” after I kill a target because of how often we hear the repeat lines. I’m sure an option that has to be toggled on in the menu would be appreciated and a decent quality of life change.
Doesn’t Payday 2 have a similar menu option where you can turn off contractor voices? I know they are different games with different engines, but I think it works as a good comparison as to a similar design choice in action.
I’m at level 68 and this is the first time I’ve ever gotten the “allergic” tell. I’ve been really confused having seen that icon on top of the suspects heads earlier, not knowing it even was a tell. Surely it must be rarer than the others?
