Freelancer - Pre-Release Discussion

I can definitely relate, can’t believe the big fun freelancer demo was only a weekend, right before I have two weeks of mock exams :smiling_face_with_tear:
At least there’s another road to freelancer to look forward to this month, Freelancer itself is still so far away :sob:

It’s hard to describe because it all depends on your play style. If you want rush all takedowns just for kills and ignore all lootboxes, safes or curiers it will take a 10 min to reach first showdown. If you want to do everything slow, explore area, take all loot boxes - one takedown can take you a 15-20 min and showdown 25-40 min, it all depends on which stage you are, because at some point there is a lot of enforcers or syndicade leaders to find. But if you have a day off - campaign can be completed in one day if you not count failures. Anyway it’s not recommended to rush it.

There is 18 missions within one campaign (14 takedowns + 4 showdowns)

I don’t think that’s something we’ll see if you want my opinion. IOI put the feelers regarding a future potential Co-Op mode by adding Stone and Knight for the Sniper Assassin mode in Hitman 2, but I don’t think it proved as popular as many people thought it would so they removed it.

It made sense IOI removing it because it was pointless having it there if people wasn’t playing it. That’s what’s create about IOI as a company, they listen and take our feedback on board and make improvements all the time :slightly_smiling_face:

47 is perfectly fine in Freelancer!

I hope we get more options for music in the final release, Miami and Berlin have some banging music. Some forms of extended mixes that’d mimic a radio would be great.

Cooperation was cool but after you completed all challanges there wasn’t anything left to do. I’ve completed with my friend and we had a lot of fun, but we didn’t like Knight and Stone because they are so political-correctnes and bland characters, it’s hard to like them (regardles if they fit to franchsie or not). I would like to see a 47 + Gray.

Ghost mode was awesome, I never used match making because I always played with friend and we had so much fun. I was shocked when they remove it. I would like to see a comeback of Ghost Mode and I see a potential applying it to Freelancer as one of type of contracts (as standalone to campaign)

Theyre not changig that in january

Ive been saying that for months. I still dont know how the Showdown targets work, if they are procedurally generated

Yeah and they announced it already. More likely only one changes what we could expect is how things cost, now many things we can get - just pure economy. But I want to be suprised.

It depends on what parts would be procedurally generated. The showdown targets are already randomised, if you’re trying to change up parts of the incredibly well-crafted maps, it wouldn’t fit them, it would jar too much. It’s perfectly possible to change item and npc placement though.

I’m certain they will change lookouts, likely change it so that normal mode in freelancer doesn’t remove equipment when you lose a campaign (maybe it will stick around in hardcore mode?) and reduce the amount of showdown targets.

Those were views that were highly expressed during the technical test and all relate to simply balancing the mode (which is the kind of feedback that IO wanted).

The lookout change would likely just reuse the animation of an NPC getting on the phone in order to alert targets, and wouldn’t require too much development effort.

The assassins part is mainly wishful thinking by me though, and I doubt we’ll get any changes to that. A real shame, since facing other killers is usually my favorite part of hitman games, but it doesn’t really feel like that with freelancer assassins. It’s definitely the mechanic that got little attention and probably needed/deserved a lot more development time.

its intersting how they add more npcs in the map with the higher diffculty

I like the high levels in freelancer cuz its more npc and more enforcers and more suspects the easy level was kind little boring i hope they will add more

And wait to see Chongqing with the 12 suspects and the extra npc maybe finally Chongqing street will look alive

I guess since it’s been revealed in the tech test, I can share it here.
How about that new Freelancer planning music when you’re in the Safehouse, eh? It’s a pretty cool medley/remix of the main themes!
