Freelancer - Pre-Release Discussion

Well, when he’s as good as an interior designer as a real estate agent, than this will be interesting

when this gamemode comes out we definitely need a show off your safehouse thread

Now I’m wondering…

Since the hideout will be such a big part of this mode, would it be a possibility that they can have a final mission where ICA agents infiltrate the place and you have to take all of them out, a la Redemption at Gontranno or just Home Alone

This game mode is expected to come out when I move in real life. So I can picture myself living in an unfurnished apartment with everything in boxes, but I’m spending all day just re-arranging Agent 47’s various belongings.

I wonder if the safehouse will be permanent progress and only items in one “run” are lost if dead or if you really lose EVERYTHING on every death… Would love the house to be gradually more and more with ideally all the items as permanent unlocks instead of having to go back to zero after every run

The Simsman, huh?

People were getting annoyed that 47’s suit collection was starting to look like Barbie/Ken’s closet, so IOI cranked it up even further and gave him his own Malibu Dream House.

Also this thread is BLOWING UP. Every hour there’s like 20 new comments, way more than the other threads.

I think IOI has struck gold with this mode idea.

It’s possible as with any modern game with a currency system, but it’s highly unlikely for Hitman.

  1. It’s single-player, so you won’t have any way to directly show off to your friends and the world what awesome premium item you’ve bought with real money.
  2. Usually these microtransaction things are a totally separate currency track. But I only see one for now (plus, there isn’t a ‘store’ to buy skins or anything too)
  3. I don’t see why they’d implement microtransactions for this completely separate mode from the main game.

There’ll be challenges, probably some based on how much money you can accrue over a single campaign, but I don’t see how MTX could or should fit into it. Their current model of Free Content and Paid Premium DLC is good so far, especially with their track record of new maps/missions.

I wish I could have this model in my Sims game, because I’m totally bad at character constructing

Why do I feel like that mechanic goes against what that film is trying to tell me as a viewer…

yea, im more then 100 percent sure ioi would never do something like microtransactions, but it was more just a fear considering other singleplayer games (especially the ubi ones have implemented microtransactions)

I’m not 100% sure for all of them, but the Haven clip is definitely reused from the Haven reveal trailer. So the clips might not necessarily be representative of the mode/how the targets work.

It looks like a really cool concept. And will definitely for me bring some fresh game play. I love stuff that makes me think, and allows me to take my time in the game. And clearly the having to figure out who the target actually is, was being tested with the Lust Assignation, and I enjoyed that one for the most part. I do wonder though, does the “shop” mean that I can’t take anything I’ve already unlocked into these missions? But my only worry is that this money/shop system looks like a sneaky microtransaction system. And me no likey. :unamused:

I wonder how it will work in terms of UX.

Basically, you launch the mode : you are in your safehouse, with the possibility of chilling, making customization with the in-game currency and practising shooting at the range.

Then, you physically go to your missions board and start a new campaign if you wish.
Then, are you stuck with the missions until they are finished? Will you be able to save and quit and go back to it later? Will this appear on the menu of the mode?

I was wondering that myself. And can you mix it up? Can you start a campaign and finish one map in it, stop, start another campaign, go all the way, then go back to the first campaign and is it still showing one map completed?

I think the consumable items and losing your loot after deaths almost certainly imply no save games.
Possibly something similar to The Garden Show that is half mission half escalation.
No saves during the missions, but you’d still be able to catch up from where you left in between

I might be alone in this, but does anyone else really not care at all about the whole “decorating the Safehouse” thing? Has anyone ever really been playing the trilogy and thought to themselves “I wish this had some elements of The Sims”?

I mean I remember Bully had you slowly accumulating trophies for your dorm room by finishing missions and certain milestones. Even Mass Effect had you go furniture shopping at one point in the series.

Mumbai outfit without driving gloves in Dartmoor.

Have we finally succeeded?

There is something about his hips that makes him seem oddly proportioned here.

But I assume you can unlock it, might even be an ET arcade unlock or a result of the suit closet for Freelancer.
