Well done on digging this up early a week ago! :pink_heart:

It baffles me that they don’t make these free on any of the other platforms? Like, you can do freebies on EGS (one could argue its known for it!) and even the consoles allow for it.

I know I’ll never get an answer from IO, I just wanna point out these decisions for what they are; strange and confusing.

They did the same with giving away Episode Sapienza - that was only on steam too.

Okay, I wasn’t going mad there then. That was also a bit stupid.

Like, I still hate the Sapienza edition, and even for free it’s still a pretty bad deal, but you could at least make it free on all the platforms, not just your apparent favorite child.

As someone who will migrate from Xbox to PC next year.
And bought Part 1 on sale + Lee Pack for 10 total at the start of the month.
With plan to steadily complete it, amongst other “essential” games on my library.

It’s great, it’s 5 less for me ^^.

In general it will signal and boost the game, maybe.

(Now if IOI could have a cross-platform-save-transfer, if not cross-progression, so I can keep their now patented FOMO celebrET actual-mission suits, and general progression, that would be great.)

Cross-DLC is less common in fairness to IO (particularly consoles → PC), but proper cross-progresson of time playing the game and items unlocked should’ve absolutely been a thing by now. EOS was designed to help with this!

Though we know from experience in 2021 that they can do cross-platform DLC’s and saves, they just choose not to.

I don’t mind the DLCs. It’s business.

What I mean by cross platform save transfer, is “one-time deal like the Hitman 2 to Hitman 3 progress transfer, but Hitman 3 platform A to Hitman 3 platform B”, just in case full on cross-progression with full synchronisation is too much.

A forked copy into another plaform.
Which I think is much more feasible, and fair of an open wish.

When I talk cross-transfer it’s mostly to conserve:

  • ET suits (Dragon…)
  • my full completinism of ET, Silent Assassin

I know there is :peacock:, but it’s not the same.
And it would be a shame to break my involvement into the live service just because I chose / have to change platform.

I really disagree with this. You bought something on one platform, and I do not think it’s unreasonable for players to have it available anywhere else.

To give an example, Paladins allowed for cross-play, Cross-progression and cross-purchases on all platforms (with the notable exception of Sony for the latter two apparently). So it’s not like this is unheard of. That had DLC and microtransactions and an account-based system. Not unlike the IOI account system, which also tracks these sorts of things from linked accounts.

Hell, Twitch items carryover regardless of platform. That’s how absurd this all is. Free items carryover between platforms but not ones earned by its users or that are paid for.

Peacock really shouldn’t be used by IO as an excuse to not do it. And like with many of their business decisions, I suspect their silence on the matter makes it feel like implicit endorsement. You’re still playing their game, so why do they care? You still have to buy DLC’s, and they aren’t against an offline mode, they just haven’t implemented one with scoring.

This is what confuses me with the iOS port…who is this for exactly? If you’re on PC and consoles, then you probably don’t want to lose any progress, so this mobile port not letting you continue with your own account that has all the other DLC or progression associated with it is ludicrous and off-putting to anyone interested.

OTG gaming is a side experience that syncs to other devices, not a solitary one, at least in my experience. I play Fall Guys on the regular on Mobile, but that’s usually when i’m bored and AFK, not because I use that as my main gaming platform. And again, that syncs to my EGS copy because it actually uses the full power of EOS, instead of one small part of it.

Interporability between ports has many benefits, and it’s high time IOI saw that too without being blinded by avarice. But apparently they need the prospect of money or excellent PR to make such changes (I.E Stadia transfers and the Xbox play anywhere ecosystem)

Don’t sell yourself short. This is the kind of request that gives companies such as IOI too much wiggle room to appear gracious and philanthropic and in control, while still being unneccessarily restrictive. A one time deal just isn’t good enough, and should not be what anyone is asking for.

If their servers cannot handle platform data concerning cross-platform chaos and carnage, then maybe they need a better server setup that actually caters to its user base more, and not their own weird and wild business decisions.

As you can probably tell, I am not a fan with how IOI treats its users, and I think they deliberately cultivate an image of being an underdog-turned-AAA studio to evade any problems they create by relying on a userbase that is ready to defend or downplay their more heinous actions (or in the case of the disruptor DLC, flat-out ignore the controversies surrounding content for selfish reasons unrelated to the company).

Give them an inch, and they’ll take a mile. Do not let them take a mile.

Can they give out the street pack one for free instead? Cause I really don’t feel like spending any kind of money on that…

Nice, I never bought that one and it’s my favorite of the two

(I’ll vote for Stellaris or CK3 for Labor of Love though :x )

Ah yes, the weapons I use in freelancer when I don’t want to risk the cool looking guns  enjoy for free, though I wish they’d just patch them into the game in a similar way the Requiem set was.

At least they are giving away a cool pack, since it’s very useful for Freelancer given the Epic rarity of some of it’s items. Still, yeah, why not give it to all platforms?

I must question most of the weapons’ usefulness. The Scrappy Sniper Rifle is identical to the Druizhina 34 (so it’s immediately worse than the Sieger 300 Advanced/ Ghost), the Shotgun is a reskin of the concealable 12G shotgun (of which there are two in Freelancer, one of which can be consistently gotten from New York). And the SMG is silenced, but mostly inaccurate, so most other options in its rarity tier are better. Even the Katana is too specialised to be useful outside of a specific challenge/ objective.

The Makeshift Assault Rifle is probably the best weapon in the pack; there aren’t many AR’s in the mode, and it is a reskin of perhaps the most useful AR in Freelancer (the RS-15), which is both silenced and a high rarity.
