“Deathloop: It isn’t a Roguelike, it’s supernatural Hitman”

An interesting comparison and it’s definitely put Deathloop in my watchlist

My thoughts exactly when I saw this review, good to know that there will still be some hitman-like games out there after the Hitman 3 content well dries up

dishonored is arguably kinda hitman-like.

looking forward to deathloop but i ain’t jumping in for a loooong time.

It has more in common with the Thief series and Dark Messiah than with Hitman. Games closer to Hitman are the Death to Spies series, Alekhine’s Gun (Death to Spies 3) and Mission Impossible on the N64…
The Ship could also be a good candidate for a Hitman like game.

absolutely but they’re both systems-heavy, open sandbox stealth games where you can use an array of tools and the environment to assassinate npcs, often by manipulating the diorama they’re involved in.

definitely less social stealth in dishonored, which is a huge part of hitman, but i reckon they have a fair few similarities. i’d be very surprised if hitman wasn’t at least a little bit of an influence.

Kindof hilarious to me. I love Hitman but can’t stand Dishonored. Definetly waiting to see what Deathloop is like on reviews, it sounds fun enough, but I also can’t help but wonder how much replay value the game truly has.

Same here.
Though for me, the first-person perspective just doesn’t click. I much prefer third-person cameras in games, especially stealth ones.

The time loop, schedule-type hook sounds pretty cool though.

i realise i’m the only one who cares, but paradox announced the new stellaris dlc for console too:

that’ll put us only one behind pc.

I noticed Stellaris is free to play on Steam until the end of the Paradox sale today, so I gave it a quick try, and am considering actully buying it at some point after all… Is there any DLC you would consider a “must have”?

in order of importance: utopia, federations and - to a lesser extent - nemesis are the big expansions. they change up the game quite drastically and have loads of content.

apocalypse adds planet destroying stuff, the largest ship class, and marauders (space mongols), but isn’t essential.

megacorp, lithoids, necroids and synthetic dawn add new empire types/playstyles; playable corporations, rock monsters, space zombies and robot empires. really good stuff but can wait till you’re into it and want to try out something different.

distant stars, ancient relics and leviathans add additional story content, archeological sites and big space monsters. i personally think the story stuff is a big part of the appeal, but i wouldn’t necessarily call them essential.

other than that, it’s mostly cosmetic, except horizon signal which is a free (and awesome) quest line by the guy behind sunless sea.

loads more deets here.

Oh my gosh you can now book a June time slot for any of the Tribeca Games demos. This also includes the ability to book one 12-minute time slot for Twelve Minutes. OH MY GOSH

Thanks for the details :+1: I actually ended up nabbing the game on GOG since it was even cheaper as part of the Paradox essentials bundle :joy: Not gonna play any time soon, but will give it a go eventually and if I find it engaging, I might start throwing in a DLC every now and then.

frugal choice!

it took me a while to get my head around so hit me up if you have any questions.

Yeah, the learning curve is the main thing that´s gonna be preventing me from playing. Simply don´t have enough time for it nowadays… Will take you up on it if necessary though!

Microsoft and Bethesda to announce five new AAA games this summer, says Xbox insider

https://forum.xboxera.com/t/xbox-game-studios-ot5-doom-posting-not-allowed-except-for-posting-about-doom/7395/1256

Along with Ben Decker (Head of Xbox Gaming Services) saying, “We have 23 studios across Xbox and Bethesda, working on Halo, Forza, Fallout, and new IP that we haven’t even talked about yet that’s gonna blow your mind.” I am really looking forward to E3 this year.

Didn’t Beth milked and dragged that series through the muck a bit too much to be enthusiastic for another one? Give other titles a chance to get the Bethesda treatment :stuck_out_tongue:

You should keep your eyes on the modding scene
