It’s terrible news, but it’s a double edge sword since downsizing Act-Bliz might be good long term. Let’s hope with smaller teams we get more clear and creative visions with projects. Let’s hope the proverbial “Call of Duty Mines” cease to exist and we don’t see yearly releases of the title after this years game is released.
Let’s hope we see Activision/Blizzards back catalogue of games finally get the spotlight they deserve with proper new releases or maybe a new IP?
Lastly let’s hope we get more finished non games as a service titles.
Lay offs are never good, and I hope the severance packages or whatever Microsoft has in place for these employees help them between jobs.

Oh yeah if anyone cares or wants to see a better Game Awards show comprised of and made for game developers, seems the DICE Awards show is your thing. (Design, Innovate, Communicate, Entertain)

I agree. I’m confused about that too.
(I’m also confused how plenty of other awards publications seem to put Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty into their “Best X Game” categories. It was an expansion, yeah??
Maybe it was a pretty big expansion, but I don’t recall those usually being in the running for “full new game awards” 
also maybe it’s just really good, but hey idk I haven’t played yet

The game was slated to release 4 days from now (granted, they could have gotten this communiqué earlier, but it’s essentially been worked on for 5 years now)
Strange how Sony/FromSoft took this long to take notice, but damn, so close to the finish line…
Ooh, one more thing: this is one of the funniest, weirdest things I’ve seen

In minor Helldivers 2 news, Arrowhead has had a job opening looking for a monetization-designer for their upcoming live-service title – but in a stroke of interesting conditions, they aren’t looking to make monetization in a pay-to-win or even dreaded FOMO-Battle-Pass type way…
That’s quite the twist for wanting to include monetization these days…

Absolutely insane that this, kinda, single-player-available, story-based live service can be completely shut down due to no servers.
Sidenote: I’m seeing on twitter that a lot of dumb people are up in arms about the fate of Batman when uh the aim of the game is literally to kill the Justice League…
(“This is a terrible sendoff!” Jeez, people acting like Rocksteady knew or even caused Kevin Conroy’s death or something wtf)

Batman fans hate it when something, literally anything, will make Bruce look even the tiniest bit like the vulnerable, fallible and flawed person he really is. I blame Kevlar for completely ruining Batman in the current day. Instead we should be getting up in arms about the fates of the other heroes instead.
Most Gamers are morons, Conroy didn’t seem to mind otherwise he wouldn’t have done it. This is the same man that voice the version of Batman that boinked Batgirl for crying out loud.

Given context now and how Conroy kept his battle with cancer virtually private it makes more sense on why Conroy would want to do this job. I think it would be all the more tragic if we didn’t get one last performance from Conroy that wasn’t a CW show.
There’s a lot of context the viewer hasn’t seen in regards to this game and what’s been shown is very selective.
Also and to be fair Batman porking Barbara was…ahem… not the best creative decision when it came to the animated movie adaptation of one of the most beloved Batman stories. Like every other Batman story that used The Killing Joke as part of its lore they usually don’t incorporate the nuances that are in that story that make it cherished to begin with.
When it comes to the fate of Arkham Batman I do think the fandom blow things out of proportion when this is the same Batman we’ve only known for three nights seven if you count Origins, it’s spinoff, and the Cold Cold Heart DLC. This is the same Batman who is confirmed to have been active for more than a decade yet we know so very little about him.
