A guy who correctly predicted the September State of Play has said that we could see a remaster of Sonic Generations announced at this State of Play. That would be good, although not really that essential in my view, there are other mainline Sonic titles that could really use the remaster treatment. Sonic Unleashed is notorious for having frame rate issues on some stages, something that is mitigated on the Xbox One since you can play the game through backwards compatibility. Lost World is still only exclusive to the Wii U and PC for some reason, might as well be a PC exclusive right now. Sonic Heroes is the oldest mainline title to never be ported. I’d also say Shadow the Hedgehog and Sonic '06 but I imagine Sega will just want to bury those titles in the past.
Anyway, hope it’s a good remaster, the Colours remaster definetly had issues, arguably not really making it the “definitive” version of that game. I own the PC version of Generations and it runs fine, and as much as I enjoy the game, it is pretty short. I won’t be picking up the remaster if it’s like $40, which is what the Colours remaster cost.
Still, hope to see Sega remaster or just port more Sonic titles. There’s a pretty big catalog of Sonic games, especially from the 2000’s that are just stuck on their original hardward, like a ton of 2D titles for the Nintendo handhelds.
I do think that we will get a real, fully realized Deus Ex game, made by Deus Ex devs, at some point in the future. It will just take a long time (decades, when the something-cycle spins anew and the ethereum stars align).
It really hurts seeing the layoff numbers climb the more you read this article.
It seems to me there is a upper limit for commercializing game making. Many companies these days don’t go below a certain scope anymore and prefer to not develop at all then. Remaining are huge projects that are extremely sensible to the economy and can leave a franchise dead for a decade or more.
I wish IP owners would give small indie developers a chance to try themselves on them to create spin-off games feasible for their size.
Arrowhead released details on their “Warbond” progression/unlock system! (Their version of a battle-pass)
Sounds pretty good if they’re giving you a way to earn the premium unlock currency in-game, plus them always being available.
The only question is whether the way to acquire them in-game is substantial or common enough to keep you from wanting to spend money…

I never played it and it was in my wishlist for years. But I have a Mac, and consoles.
Soon as I read this news this morning, people were saying it was still on GOG and the Xbox store. Immediately clicked through and it had already been delisted from those stores, like an hour after the notice that it was still up on those.
Shame. Some advance notice would have brought in some not insignificant cash flow, I reckon.
I don’t think it would have, Spec Ops: The Line’s launch saw it earning little the first time around. Plus most people have already seen the best part of the game online, the actual game is fucking ass to play.
You can just watch a Let’s Play of the game and have a better experience than physically playing it. Or you can watch Apocalypse Now.
PDP have revealed their new modern refresh of the iconic Guitar controller for use in Rock Band 4 and upcoming compatibility with the Harmonix-developed Fortnite Festival mode.
Comes out later this Spring. It has allegedly 36-hours of battery.
USB-C charging, two note sections to play on, a joystick on the back, a console Home button (depending on your version), a 3.5mm Headphone jack, collapsible for easy storage
Fair arguments. I still think that if they’d just said this was happening and sold the game at five bucks, what, five, ten thousand people might have bought it? Maybe more? Surely many other people had it in their wishlists for a while
Okay so 25-50k isn’t much in today’s gaming landscape, but it’s also not insignificant.
Edit: Also, high on my pile of shame is the fact that I still haven’t seen Apocalypse Now. Gargh.
Trailer in excess of 9 minutes for Death Stranding 2. I noped the fuck out as soon as I saw the video length after clicking play. It’s baffling how Kojima isn’t universally mocked in the same way that we all [rightfully] mock David Cage, IMO.
Put me in the “Death Stranding is boring and stupid” camp.
I played the thing. I didn’t finish it, but I played pretty far into the game. Maybe 2/3rds of it. Enough to make an informed opinion.
And that opinion is MEH.
The mechanics suck. The menus suck. The hologram conversations with NPCs suck. The safe house sucks. The product placement… don’t get me started. The stupid baby is annoying. Falling down is annoying. Getting swept up in the gunk is annoying. The music and landscapes are nice, but not earth-shattering like the game’s fans would have you believe.
And like, what, you travel for 30 minutes and that’s supposed to represent 500 miles across North America? Porter-Bridges?? Die Hardman?? Get outta here.
I could keep going with the spot-on, unarguable critiques. Shall I? Stupid game. I think no less of anyone who liked it, though.
Because Cage’s are just interactive movies whereas Kojima occasionally throws in some gameplay to redeem himself? I dunno… Anyways, introducing Physint! “It’s a game but also a movie at the same time!”
Yeah, it was gone pretty much instantly. I´ve had the game on both Steam and GOG for a few years now fortunately, but it sucks that they gave no prior notice so people could buy it last minute if they wanted to.
I wouldn´t go as far as to call it fucking ass to play (there are worse), but the gameplay certainly isn´t the highlight of the experience. And even if you are refering to the WP scene as the best part of the game, it still has a fair share of memorable moments up its sleeve. Plus the setting is great.
Personally I disagree (with the former that is, I do endorse watching Apocalypse Now), but to each their own.
Nah it’s cool, I mean there are worse shooters to play (like you said). I just kind of expected more after hearing so much about it, I got it cheap played it for a bit then just kind of decided to watch the rest of it elsewhere. It was a decent deconstruction of the military shooter but I have seen its tricks done elsewhere better both before and since.
