Phasmophobia (ghost hunting game) teases finally adding voice-chat communication with its ghosts on consoles in an upcoming update.
(PC Players have this feature normally, but on console, for whatever reason, have had to resort to a pre-written/fill-in-blank text system to ask questions or make statements.)
I got this game off the PS Store using its Stars Points, though haven’t gotten around to playing it (due to waiting for the “real experience”, also I’m chicken) well that time might come soon!
Sonic Racing Crossworlds was announced at State of Play a few days ago. It’s looking good honestly, fun gimmicks, a sizable roster of characters and stages.
The last Sonic game, Team Sonic Racing, was OK. Nowadays you can get it cheap and for sale price, you’ll have a good time. But it suffered from a number of issues. It was when Sega decided to drop the “Sonic and Sega All-Stars” brand the last 2 racing games (and a tennis game) had, instead going for just Sonic characters. And with the roster only being 15 characters, it just sort of felt like the worst of both worlds, bad for fans of Sega characters who were represented, and just not that impressive for Sonic fans, since the last racing game, Transformed, already had Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, Eggman, and Metal Sonic, it meant only 9 more Sonic characters on top of that. Didn’t really feel like many people won on that honestly. Combined with a limited track select. The cars/planes/boats mechanic was stripped, and instead we got the team mechanic, which I think was an interesting idea but not what I think people look for in a kart racer, TSR was just underwelming,Transformed is by far the better title.
I think as well that when TSR came out, at the time the newest Crash Bandicoot racing game was out, which had a great roster, and was constantly adding stuff through updates. TSR came out with basically no support afterwards. Hard not to think Sega gave Sumo Digital (who did All Stars Racing, Transformer, TSR, and helped on some game called Hitman (2016)), either little time, little money, or both to make it.
So onto Crossworlds. This is being made by Sega and Sonic Team themselves, with developers from the racing arcade series Intial D involved. 23 characters at launch, and whilst it appears they will all be Sonic characters, Sega have confirmed that there will be Sega characters added in. The digital deluxe comes with a season pass that includes characters from the Netflix Sonic Prime TV show, which is really cool. Perhaps we’ll see tie-ins from the movie series, or, dare I hope, the IDW comics? If they add Tangle and Whisper, I would be very happy. Hell, maybe further down the line, characters outside Sega? Worth noting that Transformed had a very ecleptic cast, like the football manager from Football Manager, General Winter from Company of Heroes 2, Ralph from Wreck-it Ralph, 3 characters from Team Fortress 2, real life NASCAR driver Danica Patrick. With how much crossovers have become a thing, especially in stuff like fighting games in the last few years, there is some real potential here, both in and out of Sega. If there is a Persona or Yakuza rep that would also make me very happy.
Gameplay wise, the transformed angle is back with cars able to shift into boats and planes as the tracks change. Characters can now choose from 45 vehicles, the character’s stats combining with stats of the vehicle, and with vehicle modifications to boot. Most exciting is the return of Extreme Gear, the hoverboards from the Sonic Riders series, as well as the 3 Babylon Rogue characters also returning to be playable. It does feel like a big fun amulgamation of Sonic’s racing career. Combined with the titular Crossworld mechanic, which sees the second lap of each three lap race go to a different track chosen by whoever is leading the race, and it looks like there will be plenty of variety. With the right kind of post launch support, this looks like a real must have kart racer, and Sega should put the effort in, considering how many kart racers are out there, including the upcoming Mario Kart 9.
So yeah, looking forward to this. I have signed up for the closed technical test, will see if I am lucky enough to get a code for that. This looks like fun.
The speculated roster, from parsing through the trailer footage from Sonic Stadium is:
- Sonic
- Knuckles
- Tails
- Amy
- Eggman
- Jet
- Wave
- Storm
- Shadow
- Rouge
- E-123 Omega
- Vector
- Charmy
- Espio
- Blaze
- Silver
- Cream
- Zavok
- Zazz
- Big
- Metal Sonic
- Egg Pawn
- Sage
Man this shit is like X-Men comics. Turn your back for one second and fifteen more mutants crawl out of the woodwork for fifteen issues never to be seen again until a crossover or some shit.
Back in my day you had the regular blue Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and Shadow but if you said you liked Shadow you would get bullied. Oh and you had Amy because back then you had the designated on girl on the team. Their villain was Eggman or Robotnik and if you went onto YouTube you would see him pop up and say Pingas because Americans thought it sounded like Penis.
Of course in Australia it was funny because pingers or pingas were our word for ecstasy tablets. The teachers would tell that X would literally kill you if you so much as looked at it. Of course the coppers loved X because it gives them an excuse to police music festivals which we no longer have because tickets are too expensive to waste on such mid music.
I didn’t know you worked for IGN AK. The best part is, Sonic fans dream roster would probably be a 100 strong without crossovers, and pull from some of the most obscure stuff imaginable.

Valve released tools so that community can create their “own” TF2.
HELL YEAH WOOOO (idk what that means but thanks yay chicken!!)
BIRB. Nice.
H A H A H A H A H A H A
So great and so cool to see that Marvel Rivals is still going strong and releasing new maps and adding big Marvel Staples like the Fantastic Four. This game is SUCH a big success nothing can ruin this right??
Oh. Okay. Wait what??
inb4 “game made boatloads of money, but the executives think it should be making Yacht-loads of money
”, so bye bye outsourcing-US-branch I guess…
Uugh jeez that’s horrible.
Well I mean that is what they did. That or NetEase know that operating a Chinese company in America is about to become prohibatively more difficult and expensive so they are getting out of Dodge.
Oh. Also, this insanity:
IDK if Ultimate Power Ultimately Corrupts or if these CEO bozos are really all just dark and evil inside this whole time, but MAN, they just keep blaming the spooky scary DEI boogeyman for stuff that just isn’t true.
Can’t believe the ripples the Rump admin is having just talking about “ending wokeness” or whatever… Like I don’t think they’ve even passed any actual laws yet banning any of these things? ![]()
