Huh, another nintendo thing I didn’t know about:
the hit game Dispatch has a bunch of visual censoring for nudity with no option to turn it off on the Switch version.
Dispatch developer AdHoc Studio acknowledged the change in a statement that noted how “different platforms have different content criteria” and that the company has “worked with Nintendo to adapt certain elements so Dispatch could be on their platform.” Now, Nintendo itself has chimed in to try and explain the matter further.
Nintendo: “While we inform partners when their titles don’t meet our guidelines, Nintendo does not make changes to partner content. We also do not discuss specific content or the criteria used in making these determinations.”
People are theorizing it having to do with censorship boards in Japan, not Nintendo themselves. Other notable mature Switch games typically have forced-censored versions in that country.
Apparently Dispatch’s PS5 version just released in Japan with this forced On censorship, but other regions that already had it available are unaffected. But for whatever reason Adhoc didn’t see the need to make different region versions for the Switch port? That’s pretty screwy.
You know what I mean though, when you give someone the ability to create a person ex nihilo they will either recreate whatever it is will give them a good laugh or gets the most attention. Plus I assume there are a few ironic Kirks already, I mean he already looked like a Mii with the face made on the smallest setting.
I “liked” this but I don’t like it. Anything to get more people to play Below Zero, though? I never finished it, but I obsessed over its predecessor.
Below Zero was ok taken on its own, and I appreciate that the devs tried out some new mechanics (and environments), but the game didn’t go super deep or super hard, and lacked the special sauce of Subnautica. It’s so hard to capture lightning in a bottle twice, especially when the surprises of the deep are no longer surprises.
Here’s a thing: Ubisoft just delisted The Division Gold Edition and put out the Definitive Edition - basically just a new bundle, not a new version or port.
Why? Maybe so they can keep it from selling at like 90% off so soon again, but, man. That came outta nowhere…
Oh yeah and there’s a 60fps patch for it now I just learned lol
Yeah that’s my assumption, because even if 98% of the audience are using consoles and PCs to play your game, it’s still worth getting full coverage to net that extra 2%. Profit margins seem to be narrow in the video game industry, so you gotta squeeze out every drop you can!
I played Poker Night 2 to unlock the Portal skin for Borderlands 2. It was actually quite fun, though I only really liked GLaDOS, would have liked Heavy and Sam to be present instead of the others.
I remember seeing the videos for all the funny table conversations for that game but never played it since mainly PlayStation player. Glad to see game that were once exclusive like poker night, yakuza, and many another games branch out to other consoles as well.
so all things considered the Switch 2 has been kinda pulling a lot of punches when it comes to third party support. I can say confidently the system while flawed really is great.
but Game Key Cards, and Game Cards are a big point of contention.
Bethesda arguably can put their games on a Game Card and ship them out. Well Fallout 4 and Skyrim’s Anniversary Editions will be sold physically but not as a Game Card, or a Game Key Card. But as a code in box.
Saddest part of all? Indiana Jones and The Great Circle will have its whole game on a Game Card.
Hopefully Oblivion remastered is on a Game Card or at the very least Game Key Card. But my excitement for Fallout on the Switch is absolutely gone after this decision.
The Marvel Tōkon steam page got updated with a bunch of new information including the launch roster count so there should definitely be news for it at the State of Play on Thursday
So back in November, all PC players got the ultra-secret basically impossible Nuclear Disarmament cutscene in MGSV.
And according to my youtube feed, it happened again 14 days ago…!
Video games achieving world peace twice in the span of 4 months, what a world
(The current fan theory is that the Nuke Cutscene is inherently impossible, however, due to integer overflow, enough nukes were made to exceed the maximum, so the count was reset to zero. ) The PS3 version also finished this 6 years ago.
There’s gotta be some irony that peace day was triggered not by the total dismantlement of nukes, but of the polar opposite. The proliferation of nukes on such a scale that world considers it to be a non-issue. Like instead of eradicating smallpox, we gave it to everyone and normalized it until people considered it an inherent part of humanity
I got it randomly twice over the years (PC). No idea what actually triggers it. But if u have the game on PC, just download and install Infinite Heaven and you can play it as many times as you want
