Game News Thread

If that’s the case the question is how the hell would you unlock the achievement. Honestly it might just be a sign in the middle of the woods that appear at a set time in specific weather saying “nothing is here move along”

So if it´s a new engine, does that mean the OG versions should remain available to play/purchase as well?

That I don’t know. That’s entirely on T2/R*

Supposedly they should remain playable, unless R* is willing to give free upgrades to all digital copy owners. Purchase availability is the one that is hard to tell.

Also, the new DE version will become available on Rockstar Game Launcher. That’s a first for them to release PC version and console versions at the same time, right? That’s good news. Still a terrible shame they hunted down the mods for old games.

Basically purchase availability isn´t an issue since I have all three games already, but whenever there´s a remaster coming up, I get goosebumps whether the publisher doesn´t decide to replace the OG version completely with the remaster and doing a Sgt. Doakes in your library…

I´m hoping the scenario here will be the same like Mafia II (not necessarily in terms of receiving the remaster for free - though that would be nice - but keeping both versions available).

Yeah, that would be a dick move to replace / stop selling the original version though I’ll be honest, the better version of these games are the retail versions since they still have all the soundtrack intact :stuck_out_tongue:

That´s something I was just about to add as well - wondering whether they´ll make sure the soundtracks are in their original forms. Somehow I doubt it… :unamused: (The Definitive Edition(s) as in “We´re definitely not renewing those licenses”)

Some shocking news emerged yesterday…

After all the leaks posted by @Swangtheugly, Rockstar had their hand forced and officially announced the Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition.

No release date yet outside of “soon” ™. But it is “later this year” per the video description.

And apparently they will be pulling the OG versions off digital stores starting next week. No word yet on whether this means they will remove them from our libraries as well…

It was to be expected. As long as the new versions aren’t so broken that needs community fixes, I’m okay with it.

They shouldn’t be. Renderware the OG versions was obviously just used to Render the game and it’s UI. So the coding and scripting will be intact and seamless with the port over to Unreal which is known to be user friendly.

Jokes on you, I still have the physical PS3 version of San Andreas.

X360 / PS3 ports are the Android version with a lot more bugs so no, the joke’s on you :stuck_out_tongue:

It’s not that bad on the phone. It’s very playable and while it has issues, it has way less than the PS3 / X360 versions

Christ I don’t envy you that port is ass. The 360/PS3/Mobile ports for SA are so bad.

There are bugs? My copy of the port plays pretty well, I haven’t noticed anything unusual unless you are talking about the other two.
