I know Sean technically already posted this but his article doesn’t mention Germany funding a hospital and training its staff for 5.4 million euros or the other stuff surrounding what Germany is currently doing.

Well the good news is even if Russia invaded they might not even be able to hold it. That is provided Putin is doing nothing more than scaring Europe into instability and schism which seems likely to me. He has been greatly successful at that.

Russian troops are deployed defensively and I don’t think they will invade, as they don’t really have the necessary equipment and manpower to successfully invade an entire country. The West just has a habit of going apeship at the sight of Russian anything.
I would be very very surprised if they did advance into the country under the current circumstances.
It’s not like they’re done it before, right?

Well I refuse to take the bait on the Ukraine. Russians are masters of disinformation and scare mongering and I can smell a ruse here to try to create more destabilization especially considering internal issues in the U.S. are bound to get heated up again.

Unconventional “article” here is a list of books Texas is going to be banning. I sure hope nobody goes through this list thoroughly and decides that they need to expose their children or themselves to these books.
I mean that would be terrible wouldn’t it? I sure hope you don’t send this to anybody you know who is a real American who can actually think as well. That would also be mortifying.

I’m all for a pass being given on someone’s first car jacking or similar type offence. But 3 and a firearm used in each one? That kid should have never been free enough to commit his 4th crime.

I know, but such leniency is by design so that when it’s done white nationalist type doing the same thing to people of color, there’s no question that he can be kicked loose. By design.
The leniency is a fairly new thing where I come from. It was ushered in by our current mayor and DA. I promise you neither Lori Lightfoot nor Kim Foxx are white nationalists. I would instead offer that they are trying to move the city into a place where reform over punishment is the standard, and that they have simply missed the mark, or overcorrected the old policy.
I know, I just mean the overall system. It is indeed systemic, creating problems across the board even when someone who could and would do something about it is in the position for doing so.
The problem with use of restorative justice isn’t so much that it is a bad idea or that it is impossible but that there is literally no way you can implement it using what lies out of a DA or Mayor’s control including a whole lot of reforms. Restorative Justice only works if you have prisons that prioritise rehabilitation over punishment, if convicts are going to have a safety net when released, when there is a reduction in poverty and homelessness, the police actively doing their jobs instead of doing nothing out of spite or apathy, it requires expanding police to include social workers so certain situations don’t end in arrest and knowing that it isn’t a zero sum game and that there will be people who can’t be helped.
As you might have notice all but the last one would require reforms and greater welfare systems all of which are Communism, Socialism, Syndicalism or whatever word they use to call good and sensible policies these days.
