Starting to think misogyny is real…

But in good news… Apple almost ready to admit Nazis are bad.

One could hope the removal of Parlor happens cause the platform is full of Fascists. If it means they lose another platform to voice themselves and gather that’s okay. We don’t need people following people like Gypsy Crusader even if he has became a icon on apps like Tiktok.

I say almost because Apple wants to pretend that it could somehow be moderated, however given they keep sanctioning ArtStation for things like nipples and wangs in paintings, it seems unlikely Parler can excise the hdeath threats and rampant child porn in time.

Parler went down shortly after the announcement so I am guessing they are trying to prevent people from cataloging all their illegal content when they scramble for a backup plan.

Meh. At the end of the day, they’ll just find another generic platform where “protecting free speech” is code for “protecting Nazis”. Parler is just another symptom of the disease that is weak legislation.

Weak legislation and decades of propaganda - however whenever these micro platforms get banished from major platforms - it essentially undermines their ability to recruit because now you can’t just install an app 'cause someone posted a link or visit it while you’re doing other stuff, now you have to go out of your way to go there.

Back when it was on Reddit, TheDonald was one of their biggest subreddits and it used to regularly go on campaigns to fuck with other subreddits, upvote articles to get them to the front page etc. Now it’s a separate site it’s been bleeding off followers because, well when you’re there all you can do is wallow in the toxicity - you can’t post something then go look at the responses to the cat pic you posted in a different subreddit earlier.

Likewise, Parler being a phone app means it has access to similar levels of engagement even if you’re not on the site right then - you’ll get notifications when people respond to you, when something goes viral etc, on your phone right there. If you are too busy to look for a few days, it’ll keep reminding you until something gets your interest in a moment you’re bored (probably sitting on the toilet) and then it all begins again - if it’s just a site it’s easy to get out of the habit of checking it, to have something bigger to deal with, etc.

Limiting the ease of access limits their ability to retain people who are not yet completely sold, and limits their ability to retain people who are having a crisis of doubt about it.

A lot of people from TheDonald didn’t go to the website, they just went to r/TuckerCarlson, which doesn’t even try to disguise the fact it’s just a literal Nazi subreddit.

Kinda like the real Tucker Carlson. Fash pretending to be Cons

A whole bunch of them just lost interest too, after all it was subscribing to a whole new web site or finding a whole new subreddit. Not to mention there were a lot of people who didn’t subscribe to r/TheDonald or any other outright evil subreddit because they didn’t want to have it on their feed all the time, but they’d go there and join in the fiascos when they felt like it.

The ones that went to r/Tucker_Carson don’t have the numbers or the juice to do the kind of manipulation of Reddit’s algorithms that The_Donald did.

The people on the The_Donald now no longer have the global reach they did, and what outside traffic they can get comes mostly from big sites that should have (and hopefully will soon) block their recruiters:

No longer can they seemlessly move between their cult and society, now they have to start thinking about what really matters more to them and facing a lot more resistance when they try to normalize their cult. That’s not good for their membership long term.

Also as a side note, Parler is very not free speech, you’re not even allowed to send people photos of your poo:

This is just sad:

We regret to report Trump is at it again on Twitter

Donald Trump, after being permanently suspended from Twitter under his personal account @theREALDonaldTrump, has tried to hijack the official presidential account @POTUS to tweet his grievances.

Twitter is quickly deleting the posts before they can be shared, but users briefly could see messages from Trump slamming Twitter for coordinating with Democrats and the “radical left” to “silence” the president.

The social media platform had already said it will remove any new postings from Trump to @POTUS. If Trump attempts to make a new account, it will also be permanently suspended “at first detection,” according to Twitter’s rules.

Donald is set to become the uberpoisedmortal of Twitter

It’s good to see Apple moving in the right direction (even if slowly). As @Sean said, they will find another place creat an echo chamber. Based on what I see Clouthub is my guess. Already seeing the right flock there.

This is literally like George Orwell’s Road to Wigan Pier

You might have the confused with the list of people George Orwell fought in Spain.

The “hypocrisy” is largely due to a wide spread misunderstanding of 1984, which was largely perpetuated by the people who were like the ones the Orwell fought in Spain trying to avoid the consequences of their actions.

This article is nonconsequentail, but it made me smile.
