The French have always been a head of us in terms of revolutions.

People in the US, and elsewhere, don’t get that France’s “surrender” in WWII, was an anomaly. They should look up what happened during the French Revolution. There’s a reason why the world has tried to avoid revolutions of that scale since.

It’s the last country that is still run by the people. They just shut it down whenever they want. Super impressive compared to the rest of the modern nations.

It’s almost like Sarah Palin isn’t relevant anymore.

Peltola will be the first Alaska Native and the first woman to represent the state in the House. She’s also the first Democrat to hold the seat since 1972.

Of course, she’s also up for re-election in November.

Remember when Palin was considered the lowest bar for a politician?

Yeah, eh kinda opened the door to the crazy conservative that everyone on the right had to start one-uping, until we eventually arrived at Donald Trump.

I am sorry did you forget about Reagan completely?

No; Regan started the trend of asshole Republicans doing nothing except cutting taxes for the wealthy and trying to convince us poor saps that it will somehow trickle down to the rest of us. Regan was crazy and some people who were also crazy followed his example and ideas, but he did not start the trend of trying to out-crazy each other. He started the trend of Republican bulldozer greed at all costs. We have Palin to thank for the wave of crazy, stupid, nonsensical and contradictory right-wingers trying to get attention by being extreme. Thank Regan for Mitch McConnell; thank Palin for Donald Trump.

Wow this is like that fake Twitter thread Clickhole faked a while back. She literally made herself the hero of her own story, I am amazed.

Man I can’t believe Republicans are blowing this midterm! This should’ve been a layup.

Well this one is the pre-midterm. The same seat will be up for election again in November.

But yea it’s encouraging that a Dem won in what is usually a GOP stronghold.

Thank goodness they’re fumbling it.

Well it’s not just this one election, they’ve underperformed in every special election since the Dobbs ruling

The delicious part of this - or at least the most delicious, because there are several things to unpack from this - is that she won on a system that the Republicans came up with, championed, and implemented, with the thought that Democrats will automatically lose in states where they’re not considered popular, and if they flood the field with candidates, theoretically increasing their chances that at least one will be 50% or more popular with their constituents. In this race, Palin was the most popular among Republicans, but not popular overall for various well-established reasons. And now they’re all crying that their own system, which allowed a Democrat to win sensibly, is rigged, unfair, woke, and favors Democrats. It’s starting to hit home to them, really hit home for the first time since the Regan era, that Democrats really are more popular than them, more numerous than them, and that their policies are not as widely desired as they thought. Resentment and bitterness, the primary drivers of their party, can only last so long before people want results that actually do something.

This guy is such a fraud man. Can’t believe anyone falls for his bullshit.

He rants about “freedom”, but now he wants to ban words for being “too complex”. He rails against gatekeepers, but he’s one of the biggest gatekeepers himself.
