Arnie delivers a rebuke of what happened at the Capitol. It seems that the Americans by Choice are more Americans that the “patriots” we saw at the capitol
Pennsylvania senator Pat Toomey is the second senator to join Alaska’s Lisa Murkowski in calling for the resignation of Donald Trump.
Another shooting.
Another major power out has hit Pakistan just three years after a major outage knock 80 percent of the nation’s power off taking down the nation’s whole power grid.
Well no shit Sherlocks. Whatever could have made you reach that conclusion?
CNN did also report about it, but nothing about suicide:
(CNN)A Capitol Police officer who was among those who responded to the storming of the Capitol last week, died while off duty, the Capitol Police said.
Officer Howard Liebengood, 51, was assigned to the Senate Division and has been with the Department since April 2005.
“Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family, friends, and colleagues,” a statement from the U.S. Capitol Police communications director Eva Malecki said. “We ask that his family, and other USCP officers’ and their families’ privacy be respected during this profoundly difficult time.”
The announcement did not state the officer’s cause of death.
Parler is about to lose it’s hosting after Amazon dropped them like an ugly baby, and the CEO admits he was mistaken when he said there would be lots of providers eager to offer hosting, to date it appears literally none are interested in hosting.
He’d probably want to sue them about it, but apparently his legal representation has also abandoned him - along with every other business associate.
Fun fact: This isn’t a thing anymore. It went away during W Bush’s presidency. It’s 10 years after leaving office for anyone elected after 1996.
Fun fact 2: the protection also applies to your spouse; if Hillary Clinton had won she would have been the last President with lifetime USSS protection, not bc she was president, but bc she is married to someone who was president before the change.
Parlor creator versus Jeff Bezos mega Corporation. The legal battle of the decade. Who will prevail? Mr Deep Pockets or using some random guy on the app that uses racial slurs?
I’m getting miffed at all the pearl-clutching over Trump’s Twitter account being banned. Both because it’s Trump, the obnoxious wannabe dictator, and because it’s Twitter, the Internet’s death throes.
Not sure, nobody’s hashed that out fully due to the criteria that would have to apply:
The ex-president would have to not be impeached or have forfeited their protection detail
The ex-president would have to actually go to jail, as opposed to home detention, etc
It’s pretty safe to say the circumstances would have to be negotiated as a one off - though a large amount of Secret Service protection is not the guys in suits but all the behind the scenes intelligence that goes on - so I suppose at worst case scenario they’d be able to call the warden in advance to let him know if a gang was planning to shiv the ex-president
But the scenario for this happening is… extremely unlikely unless Donald Trump goes on a shooting spree unrelated to his presidency.
maybe i’m reading too much into this whole thing, but there’s a subtext of tech giant’s patting themselves on the back that bothers me.
while, yes. i’m glad they’re finally doing this, i’m concerned their pr are spinning this as a ‘taking a stand’ moment, when they couldn’t make this move at a safer time for themselves. their motivation is entirely about getting the incoming administration onside rather than benevolence or progressivism.
It is the hypocrisy that really irks me half of these reactionary assholes complain about Twitter being evil incarnate or everything wrong with Western society but the moment they ban their precious president…
