General News 1.0

Big surprise Trump has delayed announcing running mate. We should be prepared for him opting to keep his VP choice redacted all the way to Election Day itself.

I identify as an Xennial, though I’m more Millennial than X.

That’s not a joke by the way. The “in between” generation of Xennial is a real thing.

The judge in the Alec Baldwin case has dismissed the case with prejudice, citing police misconduct and the prosecution withholding evidence.

I mean as someone viewing the events unfold from an outsiders perspective you can genuinely see Baldwin is remorseful for the events that took place. And never wanted any of this.

Regardless with how you feel about Baldwin guilty or not guilty depending on how you view it. The man will be haunted by the events that took place on that day and for some people that’s enough of a punishment for him.

We might not ever know the truth behind what took place that day, but what can be said is that it was negligent to have live ammunition in a firearm and proper safety procedures should of been in place.

We were this close to putting Trump in the Official Death and Hitman Incidents in Real Life Threads.

Instead I bet this will be a boost for him at the election.

I kinda hope the opposite is true and this scares him from making more public appearances.

He does not look scared.

Now he’s a living martyr and his people will get more violent in response.

I give it ten minutes and then after some incendiary blustering from his medical clinic and on his socials before he spends the next four months in a bunker. No amount of posing lik he is doing for the cameras there will change that Trump is a coward at heart.

It is his followers I am more scared of.

Yeah this whole event will cause violence I fear. But that violence might be even worse if he was lethally wounded.

Agent 47 never misses his mark or questions his function…unless, of course, he’s paid to botch it on purpose.

In all seriousness, Trump is not beyond staging this sort of thing to his own benefit. A bit extreme, but it only helps his cause and emboldens his followers. The world is a WWE match to him. I doubt it was actually staged, but either way, this is very bad.

2 dead, the shooter and one rally attendee.

Of all the news possible, this is the one that I had to find out first from the forum. First time for everything I suppose.

I’ve been following the case and the evidence showed Baldwin was an accident waiting to happen with a lot of evidence showing that he was reckless, used his clout to allow him to break safety rules and that had a knock on effect to the rest of the production.

If we conclude that he was been punished enough, we must also conclude that essentially everyone who has ever been convicted of manslaughter is also punished enough due to being haunted.

He didn’t get released because his case was especially tragic etc, he got released because he could afford a large team of very expensive lawyers to go through everything with a fine tooth comb - find an oversight by the prosecution and lever it to the fullest extent. So, if we accept that he is punished enough and so justice is served, he is yet another example of only the wealthy actually have access to justice in the US system.

It’s a very bad case for a lot of reasons, and the only real upside is that the things that came out of it mean Baldwin is unlikely to ever re-offend not necessarily out of regret, but that nobody will ever trust him to hold a prop gun ever again.

So no real winners. Poor conduct by the prosecution on one side, wealth and influence providing a defense most others can’t get on the other. Sometimes you just have to accept being caught between a shit storm and a storm of shit.

I don’t buy it. In most cases I don’t believe the inside job/false flag nonsense, but this is a guy who would absolutely try something like that. Also, in 2024, someone was able to get that close with a weapon? And nobody behind him got hit? And it comes right when he needs it most? It didn’t even need to be his idea, the dickheads and lunatics orbiting him could have come up with it. We’ll see in time, but with how stupid his whole movement and administration and staff have been, I won’t be surprised if we later learn that there is evidence of communication and planning to make this happen.

Worth remembering that at this point, we have pretty much no information and historically - a lot of people who have attempted high profile assassinations have done so not for any real logical reason but rather to attain infamy.

Only time may reveal something about what is going on, so it’s not helpful to go all in on the speculation.

I feel bad for the attendee, the poor misguided soul who no doubt had loved ones. Vigilantism is unacceptable and consequences for Trump should have come in the form of government prosecution rather than this. And Trump is, for once, completely innocent in this situation; I obviously wouldn’t put lying and violence above him, but this is too elaborate.

But forgive me if I can’t really bring myself to feel sorry for the man directly behind, and currently wholeheartedly endorsing, this.

Regardless, the former political terrorist will survive this act of political terrorism. The kindest thing I can say is I hope this makes him prioritise who he loves over his political ambitions and drop out to spend time with his grandchildren.

And I say this for his sake and not necessarily ours, as his replacement would likely be just as bad as him, just cleverer at hiding it.

what safety rules? aren’t actors constantly using prop weapons to aim and fire at each other?
