H3 Pre-Launch Guide (Progression Carryover)

It’s not live yet, but IO have said it will be ready to go before launch.

Have they confirmed if all of the Hitman 2 escalations will be in Hitman 3?

Pre-order keys are unique (like Deluxe, Gold etc.). Even if you activate the game post launch, the system will grant you the pre-order bonuses.

No news regarding the website that will be used to transfer the unlocks, right? I hope soon enough we get something, we already are so close to release.

IO have said it will be available prior to launch, so I’m guessing it will be up in the next 24 hours - ahead of discs being available for consoles in some countries (in just under 36 hours).

I hope so. While I’m really excited for the release, this situation of the transfer has me a bit stressed. Also, nothing new regarding the redeeming of the Legacy Maps and H2 ones for consoles either.

There is no information left to give. They gave it all the other day.

H2 Standard Access Pass is redeemed inside H2 for disc players, everything else is redeemed inside H3.

Interesting…

… and I’m hoping they are going back to the original 48 hours, quite the opposite :joy:, why? Because for me, ET’s was more fun, in my opinion, permanently would turn just turn them into one level Escalations.

I mean, alright, you lose the fun factor and danger of failing an ET. But I just want the content available and permanent so I can replay it whenever I want in the future. We’ve lost Ghost Mode, we’ve lost Sniper Co-op, and we WILL lose Contracts one day. Think it would be just a further kick in the gut if ETs were stuck on an endless loop, and that they remained inaccessible when I fail or complete them.

I plan on playing Hitman: WOA for at least the next few years. Not all the time mind you, but as a game I want to constantly come back too. And I’d feel crap if I booted up Hitman 3, saw The Undying was being run, but I can’t play it because I’d already completed.

I was never interested in the multiplayer in Hitman 3, but I would be sad if I lost the ET’s like they are now, even better would be only 48 hours again.

But wouldn’t permanently added ET’s feel the same?

That didn’t bother me, the only downside is missed or failed ET’s, but the original intentions with them must have been just that, since they started with only 48 hours, when they extended the time frame and I failed a ET, I was reluctant to start Hitman, because the first I saw was the red [failed] message and it would stay there for 9-10 days, with only 48 hours, this wouldn’t be a problem.

Well, keep in mind, one day Hitman 3 will have to go offline. When that happens, IOI basically has 5 options:

  • ETs are never run again and basically gone from the game.
  • All ETs are put in-game, put on a constant rotation with an internal clock, you can never play them again after failing or completing it.
  • All ETs are put in-game, put on a constant rotation with an internal clock, you can play and complete an ET each time it is run.
  • All ETs are put in-game, available to play. After failing or completing an ET, you can never access it again.
  • All ETs are put in-game, available to play. You can play them however many times you like.

To me, option #5 is the way to go.

…no? I’m sorry, I don’t really understand your perspective. I don’t understand why you think an ET has so much more quality and fun when it is limited. I think ETs is Hitman content that should be in the game forever. I think the idea of ETs is fun, but also very anti-consumer, it makes the game play on it’s schedule, but to me, I should be able to play a game to my own schedule. (Single player games at least.)

Yeah, but I feel this is the shortsighted. I mean, Hitman 3 is a game that will be available to play for a long long time. I know I will keep coming back to this. Do you want to boot up Hitman 3 in five or ten years, see an ET running but can’t access it because you did it five or ten years ago? Does that seem like fun?

I feel like some stuff in life is worth experiencing once. I don’t think targets in a Hitman game falls under that.

It was more nerve wracking when I knew I only had one chance, with permanently access to ET’s that would be gone, that’s how I sees it

This dosen’t bother me, I never play old games, which is for me more or less 5 years, but if I did, this option would work for me:

I wouldn’t play a game that is 10 years old and even if I did, a new Playstation would most likely be out, with or without backwards compatibility.

You have a point, but I also really like the original formula.

Agree to disagree on the matter?

(I’m also out of likes , so I can’t like your point of views posts :grinning:. )

I think that’s the crux of the matter really. I’m thinking long term, and as someone who wants to keep coming back to Hitman 3 to enjoy it. I think it’s easier for you when it seems you know you won’t be playing the game much in the future.

Yeah, I suppose.

In my mind, we’ve already lost alot of content. Not to mention who knows if they’ll ever port the Sarajevo Six off the PS4. The Gary Busey ET is the only ET in Hitman (2016) that was never rerun, so good chance we’ll never see that one again. Sean Bean’s ET may never turn up in Hitman 3 because they might have to pay him again for that to happen. And some Escalations may never make it into Hitman 3, since they never bothered to port quite a number of Hitman 1 Escalations into Hitman 2.

I guess this is where I’m trying to come from really.

Seconded. I personally missed the vast majority of H1 ETs (cause I didn´t have a good enough PC to run the game at the time) and failed/missed 2 or so in H2, so I absolutely want the opportunity to play them (again) as much as I like, to experiment with different approaches and catch up on all the extra lore.

I completely understand people who enjoy the “thrill” associated with the limited opportunity, but due to real-life constraints it´s not always possible to find the time to play ETs in the given window (especially if it´s only 48 hours) and appreciate them fully. Which is why I think it would be completely sensible and acceptable to put them permanently in the game once the “active” support for H3 ends and/or the trilogy is finally packed into one single “definitive” game  (and for those who don´t plan on playing the game anymore at that point in the future, this shouldn´t be an issue at all  )

Not to mention there has to be a way for people who haven´t played H2 in the past two years to access the ET-related unlocks

Me either , I don’t understand why some people can play the hole game just because they are youtubers, I was watching a little and even they have no idea about how to be silent and just start kill someone.

Ah yes, Elusive Targets. Yet more paid for content arbitrarily blocked. Items being unlocked by completing tasks/ missions, absolutely fine.

Whole targets lost due to time constraints, not absolutely fine.

Phew, reading all those comments makes me glad I did like IO and … switched platforms. :sunglasses:

I read through the pre-launch guide and just need one thing clarified:
On Xbox, I just go to the Store and download the Access Passes for free, right?
I don’t have to have HITMAN and HITMAN 2 installed?

Oh thank Zeus.

Now they only need to make good on their promise. We’ll see how that develops, but for now I’m satisfied.

Edit: @cake941 you wanna add this into the OP?

Maybe I’m just optimistic, but it wasn’t too long ago, you simply bought a game and what you got was just that (see H:47, SA, Contracts, Blood Money).

I love that Hitman 2016, 2, and III are interplayable, continuing to draw interest back to levels I’ve played hundreds of times. I cannot wait to play Paris 200 more times with new suits/weapons/VR.

These are things that IOI is doing that no one else is. I don’t know any other developers that offer this kind of play, and I for one am completely thankful.

I understand it can be frustrating to purchase it again (possibly) because of the platform it’s on.

How they’ve made these 3 games interplayable is an incredible, unprecedented feat.

Im so thankful they did this. With Hitman 3 being pretty well known at this point, I hope Publisher do that from now on more often. Like I said, almost any franchise would profit from that, and so would the Publisher.
