Has IOI ever made a statement on the kalmer bug or midnight black suit *IN REGARDS TO HITMAN 3/WOA*

for those who need a summary:

  1. accidents and sedatives dont work consistently on targets, if the body is found it voids SA unless it’s a tranq gun but if a tranq gun is used and then the target is shot during the KO animation it DOESNT void SA even tho it’s not an accident kill

  2. the midnight black suit allows you to trespass around don’s villa in mendoza legally

these are well known bugs, reported a few times, but a consistent thing i see told by ppl who bring them up is IOI are aware of them, dont intend to fix them or put the midnight black suit in intentionally

I have never seen a single statement in regards to the status of these when it comes to Hitman 3 onward. Hitman 2 I remember a specific statement saying they wanted to leave the kalmer glitch as is in Hitman 2, but that was because they didnt want to fiddle with the fundamental systems before ending support and that these glitches would be picked back up for 3. Midnight black is similar to various bugs involving the bucaneer which were eventually fixed, people say it’s intentional but it was never added to the “None Issues” page on the support thread

Does anyone have a source for these things with specific explanations AND specifically with the explanations being given in 2021 and onward? Because this seems like misinfo to me personally

I want to bring this up because i am working on a post for Arti for months now and want to include everything that isnt already fixed or addressed in a big thread as a wishlist or started pack for the semi-new recruit (like i said took months)

I always assumed the Midnight Black Suit thing was intentional, since the level also has unique stuff going on with other suits, like the Requiem suit letting you use the praying exit from the Guru escalation, the Hawke’s Bay wetsuit (and I think the Ambrose one as well) enabling the waterway exit (while also showing up as a disguise you can pick up nearby), or some suits being flagged as “innappropiately dressed” for Diana’s tango and thus you can’t exit that way.

IMO this suit fits perfectly with all that. It’s not bugged per se, rather it’s just part of the weird secret/easter egg-esque suit mechanics that are unique to Mendoza as a map…

The tranq glitch is never going to be fixed - as its linked to the work done in H2 with the Silent Assassin ranking (was part of the statement you referred to about them not wanting to touch it for H2). Silent Assassin was broken for about eight months while they worked to get it fixed - it was so broken you could be spotted poisoning drinks and still get SA.

If there are any bugs that are linked to that work, I doubt they’re ever going to touch them to avoid reopening that MASSIVE can of worms. Especially when the Hitman team is so small now.

Bear in mind First Light has finished main production. It would not surprise me if members got moved off the 007 team to Hitman/ Project Fantasy.

With any luck after the disaster that was the last Hitman patch, they’ll do that and make the Hitman team bigger.

So naturally, they’ll ship them all off to Fantasy.

So you say we better off with no game updates at all?

I don’t believe I said anything to imply that I believe no patch at all would have been better.

I simply referred to the bugs the patch introduced due to a lack of quality control.

You don’t think they’ll be moved to “007: Second Light” (or whatever the real name of the sequel will be)?

Nah, I don’t see it. Requiem, yes, that’s a homage to Requiem, and tactical wetsuit makes sense because of water pipe exit. But MBS doesn’t make sense - there is no NPC whose appearance match how it can be used. Yes, there are Jaguars, but these have berets and guns, and also have access to whole map, while MBS only grants restricted entrance to grounds of Yate’s villa.

I wonder if some Devs of IOI accidently put the code function of the staff (Chef/Bartender) disguise to MBS, leading to that bug

If anyone is bothered by the MBS not letting you get spotted or removing any challenge to trespass onto Yates’ property, then simply don’t wear the MBS. Go ahead and sneak around in any of the dozens of other suits.

I rarely walk around in the Midnight Black Suit, simply because it doesn’t have gloves, which is a shame, because it’s a great-looking suit, but 47 having naked hands feels too off.

I havent, but i love wearing it in freelancer and have to remember to remove it before entering mendoza. This is a reason why i sorta want the requiem exit to be all suits

@IOI_Artjoms has responded to my question and is gonna ask the dev team, @BlossomFox has told me it has a specific tag of its own. I let arti know i dont want it removed i just wanted clarification on if it’s a bug or not and that there should be some exclusive gameplay opportunities like new enforcers or a challenge or dialogue or something towards the midnight black suit. Or hell for all black suits in general to have this feature to get frisked and go on the grounds and to have unique enforcers and all that

With the kalmer bug I know it’s got speedrunning value but I would like that fixed 100 percent. The reason why I say that is cause the bugs of how sedatives and accidents void SA on targets has led to lots of frustration and restriction of strategies. i’ve wanted this resolved for years

The midnight black suit by comparison is incredibly harmless. It’s just weird and I wanted to know if there’s a backstory to it at all. My theory is perhaps it was going to be in a closet or handing on a coat like how other suits are found in the map in the same fashion

Hell they add in new easter eggs and such for old maps, I think sticking a midnight black suit and requiem suit on the map would be a good idea. That way in freelancer or contracts we can start with one suit we prefer and if we want the benefits we can search out the suit in the map

just my two pennies

That feels like a very convenient excuse for a bug. Unless I’m missing something then it makes no sense for that specific suit to act like that.

It would make sense once you see the properties of the suit found by others who have and do mod the game. It’s something like <bla bla suit, hero whatever> with the key word being “hero” that distinguishes it from the other suits… Edit_2: Sorry. It’s a subtext of “allowed professions”.

They deduced that the action of being allowed on 99.999% of the Villa’s outside property is, in fact, intentional.

Edit: Found the post. :slightly_smiling_face:

It’s not just the midnight black suit. The PC-exclusive suit (The black streak?) also works the same way. I would guess the other platform-exclusive suits also work but I only have the game on PC.
